Field Marshell Seeds goes to the Birds

Welcome to my second grow. My first grow was documented in the Grow Journal this time I'm placing it in the Grow Dairy section and I'm hoping to get more interaction here than I did in the Journal section.
:groupwave:

I will be doing a test grow for radvancan Field Marshell Seeds. The variety that I will be growing is LadyBerryKush (Anaberry[True Blueberry x AfganSkunk/Herijuana] x SFV OG Kush/C99). This variety has a lot of medical strains in it and this is what attracted LadyBerryKush to me and I hope that it help with the pain in my knee.

Thank you radvancan for letting me test and document this variety for you.
:thank you:

Once again I will be growing in my Medical Spice Cabinet which I have just completed a few upgrades for this grow. My first grow I used a DWC system, But with summer here I did not want to figure a way to keep the reservoir cool so I have decided to go with a soil grow.

Soil: Fox Farm Ocean Forest
Nutrients: GH Flora Nova Grow and Bloom, Hygorzyme and maybe something to keep the salts from building up in the soil. Any one have any suggestions?
Containers: Supper Air Pots 3 litter (0.77 gallon) pots to start off in then transplant two females into 9 litter (2.39 gallon) pots for flowering in.
Water system: I will be using Tropf Blumats. These Tropf Blumats are a gravity feed device and I have added a reservoir to the top of my cabinet. To the reservoir I have added a fill line so that I can mix the nutrients on a counter top then pump it up to the reservoir. I also added a drain line to the reservoir for water changes.

The LadyBerry seeds I have heard from other tester are a hard opening seed, So I have scuffed 6 seeds and dropped them into a glass of water where they will sit for 24 hours then into jiffy pots to finish sprouting in.

I have a question for you Blumats users.
Are you just running water and no nutrients through your Blumats?
Are you running a weak nutrient solution through you Blumats all the time?
Or do you run like two reservoirs of water then switch to one reservoir nutrients then repeat.?
I was thinking going with two water then one nutrients.

Today I checked on the seeds of the six seeds that I placed into a glass of water yesterday three were cracked open and starting to show a little root, So I removed the three from the water and placed them root up into jiffy pots.
I will check the other three later today to see if there is any more progress and let you guys know.

I went to rinse my carbon last night only to find that the new carbon I ordered is a lot finer than the last stuff I was using, So today I need to find a finer screen to use rinse my carbon with.

Yesterday I stopped at a silk screen place and picked up silk screen to use to rinse my carbon and as a screen in the bottom of my scrubber.

Last night I checked on the plants 5 of the 6 have shown their heads out of the jiffy pots, So I moved them into the cabinet with the 400 watt MH light. They are still inside the little green house thing. Two of the plants had stretched so that their leaves were almost touching the top of the green house dome, So I had to do a little LIST training with them.

Hey Bud, sorry I didn't catch you earlier but I've not been around much. You asked earlier about nutrients and the Blumats. I've used them with nutes and liked them alot. I didn't have a problem with the nutes clogging up the ceramic cones if that's what you're worried about. It's because you soak them, fill them with water then stick them in the dirt after watering the soil. As the soil dries out it tries to draw moisture through the ceramic (because the universe seeks balance) which creates a negative internal pressure which opens the valve on the irrigtion tube. The nutes are delivered via drip through the tube and not through the ceramic cones. The cones retain the original water you put in them. They're a great little low-tech auto watering device.

I used PBP bloom nutes continuously when flowering, then did a flush and switched to water at the end .

Good luck with the new crop, I just cracked some new beans too.

Thanks Touchofgrey,

I have some sad news today. I had said that 5 of the 6 seedlings have come up well two of the 5 are not looking like they are going to survive.

The seed shell on these LadyBerry are very tough to split open after the plant sprouts. The plant comes up just fine but when the two first little round leaves try to split open the seed casing the pland just does not have the strength to open it and drop the seeds casing. I did help a couple of the plants to shed their seed casing, But it looks like two of them I got to to late and the little round leave never did open up and are now dieing.

It looks like tonight I will be trying to gremanate the remaing 6 LadyBerry seeds.

Sorry to hear that news. At least you've got the other half pack. Your experience made me go check my situation and I decided a couple of mine needed "help" shedding their shells. It seems them membrane around the cotyledons is thick too. I'll have to keep an eye on them.

on another note, i am wondering what temp you keep your cab at during germination and seedling growth?
im not sure what temp to keep my cab at while popping.

Checking today and I see that all 4 pots are starting to show roots poking out of the sides of their little pots. So I spent the evening filling the Air Pots getting the Blumats set up.
I hope to be placing the into their new pots tomarrow.

Soil: Fox Farms Ocean Forest, 4 weeks ago I added large perlite and 1/2 cup lime to the soil.
Today filled the air pots with the soil and ran 500mm water into each pot. PH 6.45 109 ppm.
Checked the run off And it was PH 6.20 2880 ppm
Should I run more water through the pot to get the ppm numbers down and if so what sould I be lookin for? 1200 ppm?
