This isnt the Lakers first rodeo.
They are not gonna be overconfident and come out flat - they are not the LeBrons or D-Wights.
The experience that Kobe & Fish have will keep the Lake Show ship steady and true.
This is what the 82 game regular season was all about... for the opportunity to play for the Championship on your home court. We're 30-4 at home in the last 3 playoff seasons.

We got this.

The Lakers are 0-4 vs the Celtics in Finals game 7s.
Phil Jackson has never coached in a Finals game 7.

under Phil Jackson LA is 4-1 in playoff game 7s:
2000 defeated Portland, 4-3, conference finals
2002 defeated Sacramento, 4-3, conference finals
2006 lost to Phoenix, 4-3, first round
2009 defeated Houston, 4-3, conference semifinals

The Lakers are 3-0 in closeout playoff games this season, including 3-0 on the road.

The Celtics dropped to 3-4 in closeout playoff games this season, including 0-3 on the road. Boston had nine chances to finish a playoff series away from home in the past three postseasons, but has been successful only once.

In the Finals there have been 16 Game 7s, with the home team winning 13.

cannot wait for thursdays game - gonna be huge!!!

All those stats, and you conveniently leave out the crucial "Leprechaun Factor."

Derek Fisher knows about it...

Fisher hopes to avoid any leprechaun sightings

LOS ANGELES

There are some things Derek Fisher never has seen and never wants to see, such as leprechauns. Especially of the Boston Celtic variety.

“Personally I’ve never seen a leprechaun growing up in Little Rock (Ark.) or any of the years I’ve been here in L.A.,” Fisher said after the Lakers evened the NBA Finals at three games a piece. “I’ve only seen them on t-shirts and commercials. I don’t want to see one Thursday, that’s for sure.”

The Lakers can make that happen by beating the Celtics in Thursday’s decisive Game 7 and win the franchise’s 16th championship. But they probably will need a bit o’ luck.

Sorry, Derek....but guess who just hopped on a plane at Logan International Airport? DEREK, YOU WILL BE SEEING "LUCKY" THE LEPRECHAUN VERY SOON. And the tide will turn. And the Lakers shots will go CLANK, and those lucky rolls you got last game will "magically" roll the wrong way.

Celtics take game 7............ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Red's Army:

However, there's a bright side to the blowout. The Celtics may be the best team at flipping that post-blowout "momentum" back to their own side.

  • They followed a 124-95 Game 3 loss to Cleveland with a 97-87 win.
  • They followed a 113-92 Game 5 loss to Orlando with a 96-84 win.
  • They followed a 102-89 Game 1 loss to the Lakers with a 103-94 win in LA.
You should feel confident that the Celtics will be bringing it. Gonna be an awesome brawl.

"would you bet those chocolate Thia beans you always talk about" Hell know I yelled.

I know the feeling. Wouldn't bet my beans or money on this one. Too close to call. I just don't want a repeat of Tuesday. I watched the game at a local pub and as we got further behind the drinks seemed to pile up on me. Damn I got shnockered, had to have the wife come get me. Today wasn't a fun day.

Time to pull it all together Celtics. The season has come to this last game for all the gold at the end of the rainbow. Let's do this!!

Another snippet from Red's Army...

While we are lamenting the loss of Kendrick Perkins in Game 7, ESPN.com's John Hollinger says there's a silver lining to Perkins knee injury:

"However, if Boston's bigs can avoid the whistles early, we're unlikely to find ourselves discussing Perkins' absence as much of a factor. As important as he's been to Boston's suffocating defense the past three seasons and as crucial as he was in the conference finals win over Orlando in particular, he hasn't had as much of an impact in this series, and Bynum's knee injury renders Perkins' biggest strength a nonfactor."

"As a result, the Celtics might find themselves better off in his absence than they were in his presence. No other Celtic offers Perkins' physical presence, but between the shooting and Gasol-stopping of Wallace, the production of Davis, and the tantalizing possibility of wrong-footing L.A. by unleashing Tony Allen on Kobe and playing small, Boston has landed in a peculiar one-game scenario in which it might be better off without Perkins than with him."

This entire theory hinges on Rasheed Wallace's ability to stay out of foul trouble. Or... how tight will the referees be calling this game.

I like Rasheed in the line-up better than Perkins, but he needs to have a good game. We could really use his shooting. I'd love to see Rasheed stay out of foul trouble and be swooshing that net.

I'd also love it if the players could be mic'd. There's sure to be some good trash talking tomorrow night. Damn this is going to be an exciting game. :yay:

I think they have a biased opinion on the matter :p

I think the more important factor here is if he can get hot and start sinking the 3 and the long J. Once he starts that, the defense will be spread and that will open the attack lanes. If he's off then they will rarely pass him the ball.

The refs will be instructed to let them play. The league has the game 7 they wanted. They dont want to fuck it up by letting the refs clamp down on the fun stuff. There will be a lot of people watching. They want dunks and hard fouls. :cathug:

No doubt, but isn't this thread a battle of biased opinions?

I posted it because it was an interesting thought-out view of what might be, from the Celtic fan perspective. And, it really saves valuable time if you can find already written, thought-out pieces instead of composing them yourself. I already spend too much time on the confounded time-trap.

If Sheed does get hot, especially with the 3's, it will be a huge help, since Perk rarely adds an offensive game. But, Sheed getting hot isn't nearly as important as his defensive presence and his ability to stay on the floor to provide that defense. The Celtics have plenty of offensive threats, from all over the court...they just have to start making some freaking shots!

edit: and REBOUNDING! Sheed gotta board!
