Are American and Canadian growers biased against Dutch breeders and seedbanks?

i hate to break it to the dutch defenders, but 90% of all the dutch strains came from the west coast = haze (haze bros), skunk#1, northern lights and hashplant. and to date, 90% of all hybrids have some of this genetic make up.

it was a mutual effort. cali got way more seeds then holland in the 60, 70 and 80's, due to the fact their population is double hollands, and most routes of transport came from cali to the east coast. that is where the seeds originated, in bricks from landrace varieties.

look at shantis seed list. afgahni, skunk, afghani/skunk, agfhani skunk haze hahaha. all were made in cali then found a new home in holland, rookies, lol, d

Sorry, sounds like because Nikolaus August Otto is the the innovator of the combustion motor, only germans can construct good driving cars today, more than one decade later...

I love my Ferrari!:jump:

its so rad how people confuse facts with opinions.

facts arent opinions, attacking character/swearing is a symptom of opinion/ego.

im not biased, and most north americans moved to spain/holland anyway hahaha.

i use for medcial purposes(pain). medicinemans bubble haze is the only one(haze) that helps with that, and those are dutch genes selectivley bred here lol.

theres a big difference between i think and i know. ive lived in canada and holland and spent a lil time in cali, plus all my crew is in cali monthly. i think i know what is happenig lol.

things change as time passes, as markets and demands like waves and tides in an ocean. skunk and haze goes back to the 70's, those pics are from the 80's lol im sure hashplant and nl were late seventies or 1980 as well(dont quote me). and it pretty much a skunk haze haha. when i was in holland, no one believed that nl or hp came from the pacific northwest, becuase the dutch pride themselves on being dutch, which i would too as my grandma is 1/2 dutch.

i was in the country in holland, not a'dam, where the real goes on. most coffeshop owners that i met out there were running a business, and didnt even smoke weed, they just did what they did, and made a ton of money. im still certain that foreigners arent allowed to own coffeshops, so that debunks what was said earlier,

the fact is every 5 -10 years or so there is a gene shift from eu to n america.mexican from thai, to red hair, to road kill skunk, to northern lights, to hazes and now kushes.

like i said, holland has a different market the n america, dictated by policy. it doesnt make them better or worse as you all assume it does, and you all know what assumptions do , dont you? d

id love to see a list of amazing indigenous north american or northern European cannabis

there are Asian. Indonesian cannabis cultivators that risk death just to preserve a plant they have has been integrated with their culture for centuries

and it is indigenous as they are

its funny the same regions that claim to hold the very best breeders are located in lands where the indigenous pot sucks and they all walk around like they all puff out their chests are the weed jesus merely because of their regional pride

now is this more a phenomenon that is generational also ?? i do not know

In my observational experience the varying climates that lay closer to the equator have some of the more diverse medicinally and recreational valuable strains

its funny cause the stuff of legends of the 70s (some of which did cross my lips) that was so fucking legendary had names like

Acapulco gold
Panama red
Hawaiian
Thia stick
Jamaican

Nepalese temple balls
Moroccan hash

never had any indigenous Canadian north american or northern European strains that were life changers

but hey what do I know maybe i haven't had the right heady feral hemps or auto flowering strains to have the right to form an opinion :p

really, breeders are seeking to stabilize and continue propagation of a set of traits they highly value

the better breeders have a higher success rate, the best breeders have a higher success rate and a refined sense of the different aspects of the plant that need to be considered when establishing strain traits, one that exceed the perception of the average grower and smoker

I have smoked tons of great weeds that had a delightful character and have seen the same smoke go under appreciated by a good segment of smokers for one reason or another

many people don't want to hear the real truth, but in my very honest and real life observations many characteristics of the marijuana experience are completely missed by a good segment of the population

one such reason:

many of todays modern pharmaceuticals, especially the ones in the american markets (like opiates and benzos) really undermine the ability to appreciative the full character of a sativa dominant high

if you would like to make this part of the discussion i'll be glad to expand on it

Jeez dmt, with every post you make in this thread you sound dumber and dumber, like THC123 said, how old are you, bet you're still in your teens, another punk kid who thinks he knows it all and is clueless.

curiously what about Neville

i thought seeking finer cannabis was his goal after a close call using solvents to make hash oil

thus the search for marijuana strong enough to smoke without the need to extract oils or process it to hash was born

read the story several times have no idea of the real authenticity

im not too sure what u mean by the last part???????(west coast people r on pharma pills)?????, i feel we r trying to compare strains of the past, which were great strains to the great strains of the present day.

out of oasis, orange bud, black domina, karmas jack, white widow, afghani #1 and jack herer bought last year, all i have as a gem is karmas jack.

last year i was gifted a sour diesel clone and a ha og kush clone that killed all those other dutch genes. karmas jack sits on a pedestal with my med mans blue cheese and bubble haze with the sour d, og pk.

ive bean buying beans for 10 years, and the dutch laws have effected quality trust me.

grew out sour bubble, c99, atomic jam, nl#5, sssdh, and trainwreck from n american breeders and got a gem or two in each pack.

am i biased, no, will i support big seed banks again, no. im all about quality for my pain, and trust basement breeders over the hype 9 times out of 10, d

the comment was regarding american medicine

take some anti-anxiety meds for example. xanax, valium - benzopenes will negate some of the character of the sativa high, which makes it less attractive. anti-psych meds, opiates, and many others also mute some of the effects of a sativa

this may explain why some cultures enjoy sativas and why some prefer indica. This is where regional may have some influence on preferred stain type.

im a east coast american, in the NYC area, were street drugs and pharmaceutical use is rampant, and many who dont abuse drugs recreational have legitimate medical need to take them. it was a simple real life observation.

in fact ill go as far as saying diet can even influence your high (not as much as with a stone). I find if my diet is high in refined sugars I don't get the same cerebral effects of certain strains as I do if my diet has consisted of less dense more natural foods

Many of the stains of the past as well as the strains of today have significant value, regardless of region of origin

this makes the bias for "best breeder" subjective since not all people and all cultures appreciate the same pot

above and beyond the fact that there are many countries that have been producing marijuana 10 x longer than america and Canada have been colonized.

This would give the dutch the dutch some advantage of those regions but none over the regions that had to that point been successfully cultivation for centuries

once again it boils down to EGO which swells even bigger as these folks succeed.

they forget the illegality adds far more to the value to craft of breeding seed than the particular agricultural skill sets that some of the breeders employ

which is why i made the cross market reference saying i would love to see some one enter marijuana horticulture, learn breeding, then jump to an old existing horticulture market

not that breeding is that exotic, but the costs, the value of the work compared to MJ seed, the established competition and the schoolatic resources available make it far less attractive and far more difficult to succeed

now we do have some factors that will give us the competitive edge in THIS MARKET because as Tom points out you need to be able to have a refined and discriminating smokers palate to be able to identify superior resin profiles before you consider what to choose as parental stock

the array of phenotypes is exponentially increased when you add more genetically influenced factors like THC composition

I see the green thumb alone not being a real factor of deciding value

Never really understood that. I like the process of smoking, I don't like being fucked up after one toke. That would be a bad smoking experience to me.

i feel the same^^^,,,,,,,i mean this just proves how subjective "good weed" is,,,,what might be amazing to 1 person is total crap and sometimes even "revolting" to another person,,,

i personly love "smoking" ,,"vaporizing",,,,it sets my sences alight,,,,,,its like eating a blueberry muffin when im realy hungry,,,,an im allways hungry,,,,,,,im allways dying to taste something tasty,,,,,i was a fat kid beffore i smoked weed,,,i dont eat usaly because im hungry,,,i eat because i want to taste,,,i now smoke because i wan to taste...

Ureap,

Hey guys,

Any foolio can breed a wrinkled pea, a pink tulip, a tomato to look like this or even taste like this or that when eaten, corn that does this or that or taste like this or that. However, to breed cannabis that has the above and "X" effect when smoked??? Well, we are talking about another category altogether, and I mean x many. Anybody can breed a dog or a person for that matter to look like this or that, now, breed a dog, nay, an entire litter of working dogs who all exhibit the CHARACTER that gives the ability to perform this or that and now you understand the complexity of the mountain that you are mistaking for a molehill. Not that anybody's changing the world, lol, but it kinda sucks to see anybody belittle the subject matter. -T

hay tom,,

i love the way you make SOLID points...:)

us kids learn from weed,,,,if this is supposed to be difficult then us kids must be learning alot:),,,,,thats very cool,,,,

it is weird,,,i am very intune with my weed,,,,i see the right expreshion as just the best singers in my choir

just out of intrest is a purple tulip 1 locus and codominant?,,,is that right?

Tom,

I know you probably didn't intend to, but I was kinda offended by you saying that any foolio could breed a pink tulip.
I stand very close to professional tulip breeders and I can say that breeding a tulip-product might be on the same level as cannabis-breeding. It takes years and years of immensely effective and educated selection to get a vigoruos tulip that possesses the colour-traits that you intended to get.

Just don't forget; just because cannabis is a complexer product doesn't mean it's above the other plants. Because commercialism made everything as complex as the size of its market.
