What happened in 98?

Regarding Kali Mist, wasn't it actually 96 that it was reworked?

Interesting question though U4EA, nothing wrong with that standing out to you. It could appear from reading and following strains that a watershed event occurred. Speaking of catch-years, what about 91 with the 91 Malibu Kush, Chem 91, etc.

I've seen multiple threads after thread asking the very same question-- well it’s times everyone knew the truth!

This "Pre" stuff all started when I was helping Magus Genetics write a description for their new strain Double Dutch. Since I was the primary tester for MG new strain, I was given the opportunity to write the strain description for Double Dutch.

I used the Phrase "Pre-2000" to describe the Chronic seeds I gave to Gerrit (my close Friend) to be used in the Double Dutch cross. You see, Serious Seeds had lost their male Chronic breeding stock due to busts by the cops. So Simon was forced to change his P1 stock in 2000. Incidentally, I made sure Simon got cuts of the Pre-2000 Chronic's Gerrit used in his Double Dutch crosses. I confirmed receipt of the Chronic cuts with Simon and he offered me free seeds as a Thank You. Simon discusses his change in 2000 in his breeding stock in a "round about manner" in Ed Rosenthal's BOBs.

So in 2000 the Serious Seeds Chronic changed and I wanted to differentiate the female Gerrit used in the description I wrote. No one else had used the "Pre-2000" or anything else for that matter, prior to me writing the Double Dutch description. Now it is a commonly used phrase.

Cheers,

Mosca Negra

And how did you make sure that happened?
As far as I know, you had no involvement whatsoever with Simon receiving the cuts other than providing me with the seeds those cuts came from.
Feel free to "colour-up" your history, but keep it real whenever you like to include me in your stories.

Your a good/close friend indeed, but that sure does not mean I agree or accept everything you say and do, but you already know that.
You've done a lot for me and I'm more than happy to give you credit for that, but don't make things look bigger than they are/where in reality.

Thanks for the clarification Gerrit-- assisted, agreed to, ect-- semantics really... you initiated transfer to Simon. But this thread is about the "Pre" phrase and how it came about.

I think that the big bust involving medical marijuana and the Bel air mansion went down in 98 and possibly certain genetics/people were lost or forced to stop.

Indeed, the thread is about Pre 1998, but I think you know what I was getting at.

Semantics..., agreed to...?
I didn't know you where in charge of anything back then really, please tell me more.

What happened in 1998 (in Holland that is) is that they changed the law so production of seeds became illegal where it used to be a rather grey area before that.
I personally don't think this had a major impact on seed/breeding quality though.
It's still shitty, lol

hey gerrit love your honesty! never grown your strains but i can respect a breeder who tells it how it is! as to the pre stuff i think its all a marketing ploy for some breeders/vendors to separate themselves

That's about as gospel as it gets ! In plain text,, direct from the lions den

Before 2000 (1993) folks still had the freedom to express themselves botanically and explore the world still,,, after which many lines took a knock-back in selective numbers,, and as a result several varieties (like Super Skunk) there-after were never quite as good or the same again,, as they once where... or folks remember them.

Perhaps like vino,, the 98 was just a good year ,, (so growers naturally want lineage from that season) :canabis:
