I'm gonna go watch Deadwood now.

I haven't heard of Deadwood, what's that all about bro? Now I know this shit is old, but I just DL'd Twin Peaks. I have never seen it, but I'm told it's a good watch...what do you peeps think?

I've just started DL'in Sopranos again.

Peace. :tiphat:

WHOAAAAA! How come you suggest watching the movie first AB? If I watch the movie first, it isn't going to spoil the two seasons is it?

And is the movie: Twin Peaks, Fire Walk With Me?

yeah, i'd say watch the movie first :joint: the movie, to me, is a serious/dark/twisted/awesome film... once you've seen that a few times and can appreciate the sick sense of humor david lynch has, then watch the series lol! the series is like a campy/funnier version of the movie (this is just my opinion of course! :joint:)

Cheers for the heads up AB, sorry is the 'Fire Walk With Me' the film?

So how come the film came before the TV show?

Peace.

i've watched the finale twice now and i really liked it and still love the whole show. the purgatory reality in the final season was a clever device because it allowed them to show what characters were fundamentally like in a new scenario and bring dead characters back - and then they could do the montage 'best bits' thing in the finale as they remembered.
this show was more about the journey than the ending for me. all the dharma and the hatch was foreshadowing what happened in the end anyway. the whole water plug pool chamber thing from the finale was just the result of a very ancient 'incident'

for me still the best. show. ever.

Yes, BSG = Battlestar Galactica. Make sure you watch the mini-series before you start the seasons.

It was a really good show. You should give it a shot.

did any of you BSG fans watch/like that Caprica series? my gf started watching that show (and liked it) without ever watching one episode of BSG, just wondering :joint:

You what older series was great and didn't drag on forever and had an EXCELLENT ending?
Star trek Voyager

I loved that series

I started watching caprica, but I couldn't get into their little "space muslims" religion so I stopped

....

to me, its kind of a slap in the face when people were already theorizing what was going on/how it could end, and SO many people said "they're in purgatory/already dead" and the producers and writers said "no, that's dumb, we're better than THAT!" and just adamantly denied that theory...

ArcticBlast

just to be fair though, they were all alive on the island - that wasnt purgatory - it was real. only the flash sideways timeline in season 6 was purgatory or similar.

but close enough, right? i'm talking about how they said it would end... i think the 3 most popular theories were:
1) they're dead
2) purgatory
3) vincent's dream

but it wasn't terrible, they could have made it millions of times worse... or they could have soprano-ed it and killed off their whole fanbase lmao :joint:

you do see the occasional show like Lost that tries to go a step beyond the usual mindless plots
mysteries are presented, fundamental questions posed
ultimately, shows like these can never deliver the 'big' answers
if they could, the writers would be expounding new religions or whole new philosophies of thought
that's a high bar to reach

clarke's law - "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

if you want to understand the nature of LOST better, you should read
'The Stand' and 'Dark Tower' by Stephen king
Watchmen by Alan Moore
Call of Cthulhu by H. P. Lovecraft.
Solaris by Stanisław Lem
and possibly The third Policeman by Flann O'Brien
