AzaMax vs. Einstein Oil

I just bought some AzaMax today to try it out after using Einstein Oil for the last year and a half. It's an OMRI Listed organic pesticide and they claim it's good for all sorts of insects. With the oil they start to come back if I don't spray it every other day.

It's main active ingredient is the same as Einstein Oil. A couple people have told me it works better than the oil but I'll reserve my opinion until I've used it for a week or so.

Has anyone else switched from Einstein Oil to AzaMax? If so did you see better results against mites?

I don't really like either.
einstein oil is not just neem oil, there are other oils (sesame and wintergreen i believe) in there as well.
azamax is concentrated azadirachtin (main active chemical in neem oil) and is more likely to burn your plants if overapplied or applied incorrectly. Because it focuses solely on azadirachtin, azamax misses out on the synergistic nature of raw neem oil that contains a wide spectrum of other active chemicals .
I'd buy dyna-gro neem oil.
cheap. effective. raw neem oil, not a concentrate. check, check, check.
just be sure to warm it up to about 70F first and mix well with an emulsifier.

i have a friend in humboldt who only does outdoor who swears by & just recommended einstein oil to me. i couldnt find any locally, so i ordered some from a shop here. ill let u know how it goes in a few weeks tops.

I never knew that Azadirachtin was in Neem. Its like Azamax churched up the name to sell super expensive Neem Oil!?

I can get a quart of Dyna Gro Neem for 30 bucks at the local store, or pay 70 bucks for 16 oz of Azamax.

Guy at the store said Azamax kills mites like 3 different ways.....through skin, through eating it....and I think he said it kills the mites ability to reproduce. Anyone wanna through their 2 cents on that???

If you can get your hands on a bottle of "Pyreth-It", you would be doing yerself a favor IMO.

Its a pyrethrum concentrate. I like to throw 5 tsp of it in a 5 gallon bucket and dunk a plant into it....fully submerged....that really shows critters the door.

humble1 - I've used regular neem oil and the einstein oil was way more effective for me. Been using einstein for awhile so it was hard to make a switch, but I have a couple friends using AzaMax who say it's even better than the einstein. Another plus is it doesn't stink, einstein oil smells nasty.

Admiral, I wouldn't say they used the name to sell it. Azadirachtin-A is the active ingredient in both but they both have several ingredients. Neem/einstein oils work more by smothering. On AzaMax's bottle and the manual attached to it, it says it's a repellant, antifeedant and insect growth regulator. The way the guy at the store explained it to me, is it basically makes insects not want to eat the plant, and they starve to death. It does have the same active ingredient - but it's only 1.2% of the mixture.

Azamax is great because it's designed specifically to use up to the day of harvest. It imparts no off odors, flavors, or anything else. That said, I won't be using it up until the last day, but in theory you could.

It's not just rebranded neem oil. It's a concentrate of the active compounds in neem, without the filler. Far stronger and more effective. Plus, it has 100 other synergistic ingredients as well.

So it's not just one or two active components, but a whole spectrum. And, on top of it all, it dissolves easily in water and requires no elaborate premixing.

Thanks for that info! So far I see awesome results. It didn't kill the eggs like einstein oil, and I knew it wouldn't, but it prevents the mites from feeding/reproducing after they hatch...no eggs or mites (or other bugs) anywhere in the garden.

AzaMax = awesome.

I saw far better results with azamax them with neem. but another product to look at is spinosad, its more of an organic nerve agent, kills by paralyzing the bugs from ingestion and contact. it is also safe til the day of harvest. I like using both.

I have a small amount of spider mites, am 5 weeks from harvest.
I have Einstein and Azamax. How do you spray it without destroying the buds?

If your fighting mites, Floramite comes highly recommended, i used it and it wiped them out but they have come back, DAMMIT! I've ordered some Avid off E-bay, and it suppose to be an end all for mites, but not to be used in flower.
I plan on keeping Floramite, Avid, and Azamax on hand at all times.
Time to check out this spinosad stuff!

I'm thinking a re apply of Flora mite 2 weeks after the first is in order! I've given some clones a blast of FM and will hit them with Avid, as soon as I get it. Should be mid-week.

This product is better used in a comprehensive IPM program.
Azamax needs to be applied to the root zone at the rate of 1 ml per gallon and a ph of 6.0.
Not with a nutrient solution, only by itself.
It is a systemic product that works better when it comes in contact with the mouth piece of the pest.

Foliar spray is also good, but not as effective. SPray with 5 ml per litre (or 20 per gallon) at ph 6.0.
Repeat spray every 3 days to follow hatching cycle (imperative with any natural pesticide)


Neem oil products work by smothering the insect and not by the concentration of azadirachtin present. It is important to wash the plant shortly after application to make sure you do not clog any stomata and create tissue necrosis.

While you might be 100% right, I've sprayed Floramite onto my hand/arm, more than once.
Hopefully, I'm around long enough, to say it did no harm!

Just water your plants like you normally would....

you will see them slowly deperish, not eating, not hatching eggs and turning around aimlessly, a beautyfull sight to behold.

I had a small outbreak of spider mites and a couple applications of Einstein Oil killed them. Of course then I got thrips and had to use some Spinosad on them. Einstein worked really well on the mites though.

I had/have a serious aphid outbreak. Tried dyna-gro neem a couple times and it seemed to only slow them down. Got azamax a few days ago and now they all look DEAD! Only problem is in my veg room, it seems to have stunted all growth. I have seen no new growth since spraying

Anyone else get stunted plants? I sprayed it on my new PPP and BOG sour bubble and am most worried about those.
