400w bagseed+soil grow

hey all, the total is in from the last run through, about 120g out of the 400w hps. pretty average in terms of yeild, but the bud is super, and I was using bagseed. I also like to dry my weed very bone dry, which accounts for a lower number... Thrips attacked my plants later in the flower cycle too, which cut off growth as the plants matured (I have the bugs under control with tobacco-water spray now)

There's 2 trained, fimmed and topped plants in the flower room now, coming to 10 days of 12/12, they were grown from clones of the best phenos I got. There's one other plant growing into a screen too, it was topped a couple of times during veg. I like the combination of LST and topping, it seems to work well together to manipulate the plants shape...

I've got 4 small plants growing in tiny pots, just an experiment, which seems to be leading to this http://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=15772&pictureid=381603 ocurring on pistils lower down the plant. the top is fine though... any ideas?

Here's some more pics of the last month or so:

Vege box. note lettuices and jiffy pots with clone + 10 seeds germing. the seeds were given to me, i was told afghani and strawberry cough were the two strains, but they got mixed up at some point, so i don't know what'll be popping up. Oh well, they were free seeds, I can't complain!

Note my 2 re vegged mothers too. I'll be taking some clones off these soon to get into flower while the seeds wait to show sex

all of the plants were sprayed down with tobacco solution again tonight, as I was still seeing creepy-crawlies around. However, the damage to new leaves is down to almost nothing, and the population of thrips, lice, and spider mites seems to be dwindling... the hottest of summer is over now, and the environment is at a comfortable ~26C with lights on. it was approaching 32C in the hottest hours as the last batch of plants was maturing, and the bugs thrived in these conditions.

The plants just after tobacco spraydown

No seeds have sprouted yet, of the 10 I planted. I'll be taking some clones in the next few days, as soon as I can find some more soil and pots to put them into

2 seeds have popped, I also took 5 clones of my best mother plant, I'll be flowering them as soon as they're rooted + a week of vege.

Re-vegged plants like these don't seem to have a "top", every growth tip grows at the same rate, so they form dense bushes, with all the tops leveling out to a degree, with no training at all. Pretty damn easy!

The bugs continue to tear into my plants, there are far less now, but the plants are clearly still stressed out. I've been misting thoroughly with tobacco tea + a drop of detergent in a spray bottle, on both sides of the leaves. It's effective in killing off bugs, but just not perfect, or instant by any means. I've been applying it every 2-3 days. For about 5 applications now.

There's still a lot of little white specs on the bottoms of the leaves, which look a little like eggs, plus what I think are mites or some sort (I can't find a lot of info on NZ specific pest insects like I've found... I'm not entirely sure what they are) I'll see if I can get a macro of them tomorrow, but the 100x magnifier is really required to get a proper look.

Oh, also are there any other easy simple things to add to my home made bug killer spray that'll up it's effectiveness, and not result in hurting my plants (or their flavour) I've heard of hot peppers and similar. Any suggestions?

One last thing... Is it possible to remove time release fertilizers by flushing the soil thoroughly and repeatedly?

Peace out

My plants are still infested with pests! I spray down with tobacco leaf cooked in water, once every day or two. I'm not 100% sure, but they have little white dots on the bottoms of leaves, which look like eggs.

I really need some advice on treatment for pests that are on plants between 2 and 5 weeks into flower... I can't identify all of the insects, it looks like there may be spider mites, and some other little crab like creature (I'll try and get a macro of one tomorrow).

I think the plants are fairly stressed out, they've been shooting out nutsacks left and right, I'm having to pick them off hoping that the bud isn't going to be too seedy... only a few have had a chance to pop... most I've caught early. I really need some higher quality genetics - and to free myself of pests. after this run comes to an end, I'll be cleaning the whole place down, fixing up new ventilation, and hopefully starting from a decent clone off one of the seeds I'm popping now (there's 5 sprouted now)

Peace

here's a shot of the underside of one of the leaves of a plant... note lice and what appears to be eggs or some other white crap in little spots on the underside...

The flower room, note re-vegged clone in the back, on it's first day of 12/12.

Here's some shots of the flowering room... Spider mites galore, I'm doing more population control than killing them off any where near completely... Their eggs seemingly survive most things I do to them, so I have to wait for them to hatch before I can kill them off.

The weakest plant threw off a few hermi ball sacks in response to this mitey unpleasant treatment, but is since recovering a bit at least. No further hermi signs have been noticed in any of the plants

This is the weakest of the plants... I've been spraying with tobacco tea to control the levels of spider mites.... they're amazingly difficult to kill off, and it seems like the eggs survive this treatment to some degree, so nearly impossible to kill of properly.

Vege room - ahh... cardboard box with fan and a couple cfls. the mother was nuked with a stronger, nastier bug spray to see if it'd be more effective in ending the infestation in here, but it's so far not too successful, even in combination with tobacco tea.

The rest are just being sprayed with tobacco tea... I'm hoping these plants will be able to overcome the plague of spider mites before I flower them though.
