Yeah not much to be done about it now, maybe use less molasses as it has NPK too though not so much as actual nutes. Sounds as if it's not too bad tho as apposed to actual burning, I see curling is an early stage of toxicity and burning as the later stage. This is why I prefer light soil btw as you get more control, you do need to be vigilant and read the plants more tho.

Sorry to hear the Lebs died. I was reading a few grow threads of it at another place and they all discovered it wouldn't take nutes.

Can you describe the clawing? if it's like this one and the tips are clawing downwards, it's too much Nitrogen.

I wish I had a way to upload some photos, would be alot simpler! Gonna work on getting a wire soon, and get a proper diary on the go.

The curling is similar to that, but more confined to the ends of the the leafs, and slightly more extreme. This plant was also grown with severe root restrictions for a large part of it's life, so maybe that had an effect? It's been repotted now however and is starting to explode with new growth and pistils, and going back to a lush green colour. I'm not too worried. It's so rare to find any heavily sativa strains where I live now that I'm sure I'll be chuffed with the end product regardless.

The Lebs was just part of the learning process I guess, it wasnt nutes that killed em though, but my lack of providing any water for a week! Wont ever do that again! I have a couple more seedlings, plus a couple RSC Mazar seedlings on the go now.

The one I was most upset about was an RSC Sherberghan that smelt outrageous, like stanky sour limes before it had even been sexed! turned out male though....

Shame on the Lebs, they are supposed to be a drought tolerant variety, but it all depends on how long the drought is I guess! I can highly recommend using 2 litre pop bottles with those dripper spikes stuck in the top to water your plants if you're going away for more than a week.

If the clawing is the leaves curling in and under from the tips, it's to much N, probably means the royalty mix was too strong for them when they were still small. Royalty Mix, like all Plagron soils is good stuff, but very strong in nutrients, really only suitable for putting well developed plants in for flowering. The way to use it for younger plants is to put a 2 inch layer of the Royalty mix in the bottom of the small pot and the rest of the pot fill with Light Mix or regular cheap potting compost, that way the plant can root into the less potent compost and only when the roots are well developed is it drawing on the strong nutes in the Royalty Mix at the bottom. Alternatively, mix the Royalty Mix 50/50 with regular potting compost to use for small plants. I like to add extra perlite or vermiculite to soil mixes for seedlings and young clones as it's inert (no nutes) and makes for a very free draining soil, seedlings don't like the soil to be too wet for too long!

That plant i posted is a pure sativa, can be touchy about too much N, hence the clawing. Pic was about 10 days ago, since then I've reduced the N and the clawing has mostly gone.

Cool man, good advice.

I've started the seedlings in some regular John Innes seedling compost, I like the idea of 'diluting' the Royalty Mix. Although I am running 12/12 from seed, so I dont know if that affects the amounts of nutes required?

This place is such a brilliant repository of knowledge, I would never have been able to even build my cab without it!

Peace

you can get this stuff to block the helicopters
its like mylar but stops the heat signature
most grow shops sell it

i know loads of people who grow in loft with no extra protection

especialy if you only got 1 or 2 lights i wouldnt even bother with the extra helicopter shit

i think the helicopter is alot of propaganda abd if they got the equpment they dont be using it much because they would have every grower out there
more scare tactics

if it was real they would be making a big deal about it
showing they got the stuff and busting growers everyday with it

i mean there would be 100's if not 1000's of vientemese growers geting busted a day

they use 20-30 lights per room
and up to 100 lights a house
now thats a heat signature
and ive been in 1 of these houses and they do not use the anti detection film

just my 2 pennys

peace

My mate had 5 x 600W in a small cottage loft, built an igloo of Wickes 2" tongue and groove polystyrene, extracted through the chimney, no problems for many years, last house to melt the snow. This was in the most joyrider/burglar infested area around, chopper with heatseeker must have passed overhead 10 or 20x a night....

Another had it in his garage, well insulated, but extracted out of a vent on the sidewall, he got busted... 40 plants, 3 lights, 600g dry, just got a fine, so now, a year later, he has set up again. I think/hope he is doing the venting differently this time...

Hi

Hi

UK here, new to the site, fairly new to growing having grown outdoors last 2 years in sunny UK and now finally doing things properly indoors. First proper grow under the belt i think i have found my calling in life. A few ups and downs and lessons to be learnt but enjoying nether the less. Few pix of first crop on here, would be nice to get some outside input, peace!

The only reason imo not to grow in your loft is because of the heat,my friends attic was 35 degrees the other day and i live in a place thats not famed for being warm.On the copters i have it on good authority that this at least in my area is bull,it's far to expensive to fly around looking for grows and they can't tell the difference between an insulated house and one that is not.Iff you want to know were i get my info i will pm you iff you so wish,my 2c peace

Attics are OK in winter,,, basements are better in summer,, a small upstairs bedroom tends to work ok all year round if well ventilated,, providing you dont over do it with the lamps.. lol

N.b. (400w lamps run cooler and work better in numbers, when contrasted against 600w lamps at the same number of watts /lumens input/output,, plus they cover more area)

e.g. 2 x 600w hps or 3 x 400w

Indoor growing is about finding a balance.. what works OK in October normally doesn't work the same in July. Much depends on local climate and barometric changes between.

Selecting a suitable strain to work with,, in each season,, also helps dramatically!

peace
