So the mix is cooking after the first watering...but it will dry up eventually i'd imagine. Are you guys re-watering to keep it moist?

I am assuming that water is the key ingredient to the cooking process, but i could be wrong? On the other hand im thinking i might not want to flush anything out?

Righteous! I like the terraced garden. Looks like a good spot.

Very nice Hash Man!

Mister C - Just water it down nice once then leave it alone. The more you water it the more you will pack down the soil in the pot with no roots in the pot to grow, just soak it and leave it and then turn it and plant.

2010 season has begun. Thank you to those who have helped and all the information you growers have brought to this talk. Will be looking forward to seeing the onward of this grow season and good luck to all.

Planted May13th on my 21st birthday seemed like a good occasion to get them in the ground.

Confident they will stay in veg, Only one I'm worried about my c-99 she thought about starting to flaunt her stuff started showing some hairs. We matched the light cycle in our grow room to the outside light we have now. Once again thanks for all the help and advice the growers have gave in this talk.

Hi Everyone!

I can't let you guys have all the fun without me this summer.

This is my first outdoor grow. Thanks to Tom Hill, Nomaad, Butte, HumboldtLocal and others for sharing their knowledge. I'm going from a 3x3 indoor tent to 40 acres in the 707. My gf has a 4x8 tent and always gave me flack that hers was bigger than mine. Now we share the back side and top of a quarter mile long ridgeline.

The pots are 4' x 18", about 175 gallons. I turned half a bag of steer manure into the top 6" of native soil. Then I placed 1" chicken wire on the base to protect against gophers. The pots are made with chicken wire and a huge roll of landscaping cloth I bought off Craigslist. Soil is a topsoil mix with lava rock from the local landscaping/compost facility amended with oyster shell, bat guano, lots of bone meal, Stutzman's chicken manure, worm castings, and trace minerals.

I'll get a thread up asap when I can get into town for a longer break. Here's a quick pic:

IanSF: Sounds like you and the gf are off to a pretty good start. Thanks for sharing.

Does anybody know where I can get smartpot material in roll form? I want to make some huge (7'x18'x18") raised beds for my black boxes.

good thought.

if you can find what you are looking for I loved your idea of turning the full season garden into one giant bed to avoid the 200s being overgrown too quickly.
