Ways to live frugally

I have been trying every other day to not eat any meat until dinner. That reduces the lunch menu and forces me to eat at home. Lost 20 pounds also (not drinking beer contrributed).

Growing your own tobacco

Growing your own tobacco

... if you must. I had a friend who did this back in the 70s. It's not difficult to grow quality home-grown tobacco it turns out.

Interestingly enough, he wrote the US Department of Agriculture to get info on small scale tobacco cultivation. They sent him a ton of useful info along with an envelop of free seeds!!!

If only they would do that with our favorite herb.

One time I requested Sour Diesel and got Lowryder. :badday:

Oh wait that was a Seedbay freebie request.

Not so much anymore, but when I'm strapped for cash:

I did chores at friends houses, fixing cars, computers, landscaping etc. A free dinner is a free dinner. Earn your keep and don't mooch, you'll feel good about helping your friends and family.

Sell stuff you don't need or use anymore. If you haven't touched it for a year it's probably not worth storing.

Speaking of storage units, get rid of yours. How much is all the stuff in there worth? I bet if you sold it all right now it would be worth less than 6 months of the rent you pay. Sell the crap and move on.

Download movies and music instead of going to the theater (I still do this)

When you must buy something, put the part number into Google followed by the word "clearance." It works an amazing amount of the time and saves me tons of money.

Buy used stuff off Craigslist. I buy very few brand new things, but slightly used models from last year are about 1/2 the price of the new ones. For most anything.

Eat lots of Oatmeal and beans, both healthy high protein foods and cheap.

Take good care of your stuff. That includes your house, automobiles, and other stuff. The better you take care of it the longer things last. Learn how to fix simple things like washing machines, dryers and vacuums. Change your own oil in your car, it's usually quite easy.

Nah I'm kidding! The happy endings are the main reason to go. ;)

Alternatively, people could learn about the healthiest food on the planet, HEMP and start eating that instead of all the GMO and chemically treated foods. Hemp is the one of the highest protein foods and is very easily assimilated by the body. It is also very high in Omegas 3, 6 and 9. It comes in many easily digestible forms; seed, hemp nut, hemp seed oil, flour, pasta, and many other forms of food where hemp has been included. Hemp does a body REAL good! :) In ancient China, people survived terrible famines by eating nothing but hemp seeds. Peace.

The largest expenditure of cash is a mortage or rent....both scams if ya ask me....come up with a plan, live super frugally and live somewhere super cheap or free if ya can for a few yrs...work two jobs if neccessary and SAVE as much cash as you can...then buy a mobile home, small condo or modest home cash....in many places you can buy one of these as cheap as an expensive car... might not be the nicest part of town or fancy but itll be yours and then no worries...my cuz did it and works only occassionally..semi retired at 34..lol

lol at "skippin the heart disease"...hamburgers are very healthy foods and they are exactly the kind of thing thats good to eat when youre on a budget. they have a lot of protein and you need that if your goal is to gain muscle, or lose fat. its not the hamburger thats so unhealthy at burger king, its the fries and the big ass coke.

people if you want to lose weight, eat small meals throughout the day, of healthy foods, instead of gorging out on three or less big ass meals. when you eat so infrequently your body goes into fat storage mode since it thinks food must be scarce. if you eat regularly on the other hand, your body tends to be more liberal with fat usage. also since your blood glucose stays steadier throughout the day, you just feel a lot better overall.

one good way to save money is to put up a clothesline. its far cheaper to dry clothes the natural way than using a drier. if you have an indoor grow room even better, hang the clothes in there and they'll dry very quickly.

Use the Usenet Newsgroups for your book, software, and music needs.

Shop at the Salvation Army for furniture, wall hangings, and houshold things. Great bargains can be found. You can bargain with some items, and take a senior citizen with you for an additional discount. Resell many bargain items on ebay or craigs list for a profit.

Bargain with vendors for discount pricing, never pay full retail, even for food. Instead of going to the checkout stand, ask to speak to the manager and see what it will take to lower the price on your purchase. Sometimes buying a few extra packages will get you a 10-20% discount, and all you have to do is ask. Many managers will discount items just to get them off the shelf, but you will never know unless you ask.

When bargaining with vendors, remember that the worst that can happen is if they say no, but just act like you know what you want, dont be a dick, and get them to bend on the price.
