Perfect little cab, yet not so perfect..

Got myself a cab: 16.5''W x 11''D x 28.5''H
for around 35 bucks at home depot. stuffed 2x 42w 6500 and a 2700 in there with a small 14w 5200 for a total of 96 watts of vegging powa!

Currently running: Lemon Skunk and an unknown (OG Kush or LA Woman, or Sharksbreath)

Let me know what ya guys think, the growth has been stunted a bit. I believe, from reading around the site, it to be a pH problem. Oh well, going to flush with distilled water or something.

Thanks for watching.

look pretty good man! great use for a pc power supply. and i assume that the shelf can be moved up and down? thats very useful imo.

also, are you going to light proof her any? because light leaking in durring the off period can damage your plants, screws with their photoperiods.

anyways, alls looking well

Thanks for lookin christoph.

I've been thinking about light proofing the cab, however I think I might end up purchasing another cab to flower in, and keeping this one I got running as a veg cab for mothers + clones. In the flowering cab I intend to stuff at least 3x 42w bulbs or go with PL-L lamps if anyone knowledgeable decides to chime in :)

Call me crazy, but to me my plants look sickly...... anyone care to lend their expertise?

Hmm... I water once every 3 days, and wait until the pots are light. Don't you think this could be a pH issue? It's pretty tough to figure out at the moment considering I can't check the run off until tomorrow. I could be underfeeding or overfeeding and creating a nute lockout. The past two watering - have been with just water - so if it continues I'll start with 1/4 to 1/2 strength nute regimen.

It's funny, the Lemon Skunk is showing signs of N deficiency (yellowing older leaves) and the unknown is showing weird discoloration on younger leaves...

Smaller... power supply for the CPU fans? Hmm to be honest I ordered a bunch of fans from coolerguys with fans that came with an AC adapter. However, after some research I found out that I could wire a PSU to run without a mother board, and since I had an old crappy computer laying around I decided to save 60 bucks :)

the plant on the right looks like it has a calcium deficiency going on, though the pictures aren't very good. what kind of soil you using ?

I'm using 2 parts fox farms ocean forest, 1 part chunky perlite, 1 tbs of dolomite lime (might be regretting this) per gallon of mixture.

The nutes:
Fox Farms: Grow / Bloom / Tiger
Using tap water, I bubble it for 24 hrs before mixing nutes if any, then adjusting ph and let it sit for another hr or so before watering..

These babies have been growing since March 21st, when they popped out as scrawny little seedlings. For now, I am going to keep them as mothers (feminized) and take clones for the outdoors, or make another box

:tiphat:

"though the pictures aren't very good."

-thehappyguy: Here are some close up pictures of the affected leaves, before I cut em off about a week ago.

*Edit* The fan leaf stems on the whole plant are all turning purple.. hmm read about that somewhere... time to look

looks like a calcium deficiency to me. try foliar feeding with a water/dolomite lime mixture. also, how long has the lime been in the soil? it takes a little time to activate.

Any idea how much i should mix in terms of tsp/tbsp a gallon?
The limestone has been in for... I'd say 3 weeks. I hear the dolomite raises the pH slowly as time passes... so I'm not sure if I'd put any dolomite in at all next run.

!!!!!

!!!!!

sooooo...

I decided not to bubble the water over night. I figure if there are any microbes in my soil, they aren't doing me any good anyway!
I watered and watered but didn't actually do twice the pot volume of water. After taking the runoff, I strained it through a coffee filter for each plant, and put them in different cups. Then...... I check the runoff for pH and BAM its 7.3!!!!!!!

I've come to the conclusion that unless you're feeding your babies like crazy, which will result in huge sodium build up over time, that you shouldn't put any dolomite lime in it. I was watering them with 6.3 nute solutions the whole time and the ph is at 7.3.....

**EDIT** The pH'd water I fed them with was at 6.44.. so 6.44 -> 7.3 so I'm guessing the pH was near 8++!!

That power supply is sucking more power than your lights!! Grab an old ac/dc adapter from a phone or something and wire those fans to it. Lots a them at thrift shop for a buck and you can get all different voltages for different fan speeds. You could run a ton of those fans off one adapter.
