Colorado House Bill 1284

Okay, now you really need to move here Fucktardo!
We will gladly take your money, take your house (when you can't sell your dirt weed), take your wife, and your car....

you are the one with the same lame hydro setup running non organic fert. says it right there in your sig.

go cut your dreadlocks wookie boy

Matt Brown, the asshat thats in bed with Romer, said yesterday the only part of the bill he is against is the residency requirement, what a surprise. I think someone needs to make a list of all the players that are involved in helping with this bill and expose these bastards. I've heard Matt Brown (who was hired by farmacy and a few others) wrote 90% of this bill with Romers blessings.

Someone needs to buy that idiot a oneway ticket back home to Kansas....or maybe kick his ass all the way back there. How is it all of the non-voting, non-residents even get input into Colorado's lawmaking process? I went to one meeting with his group of morons and figured out that he was all about the dispensaries, not the patients....if I wouldn't have gone to jail for it, I woulda kicked his butt right there.

At the meeting I was at, he was asked about us growers...he basically said we will either have to "partner" with a MMC, or we would be illegal, and that "vertical integration" was going to be "non-negotiable". So basically, we better follow his and Romer's rules or we would be out. Several growers left right then...

Our problem is, we aren't as organized as the dispensaries are. We've been underground so long, we don't trust enough to organize...making it impossible to get together to hire our own lobbyists....effectively muting our voices. There are way too many "agendas" here...

My bad, I was thinking oaksterdam etc. and the farmacy which has opened up shop in Lodo. But all mis-naming aside I absolutely should talk shit, because we have been here fighting this battle for years.

Farmacy is also opening in Boulder too, and they are pieces of shit!

I realize that you guys feel like you have been fighting this fight for years and I agree that born and raised Coloradan's should have the first stab at the pie, but did you guys think that people from other states wouldnt want to come here and grow LEGAL pot ,when for years they have been looking over their shoulders to avoid LEO and jail time in non-med states. If you did, than thats NAIVE.

You should be proud that people want to move here from all over, Colorado is a wonderful state and although Im not a born and raised CO girl, you can bet your ass that I would fight for it just as hard as someone who is born and raised here. Plus I dont take it for granted, the wonderful opportunities that have been opened up for me in this state. Those people that come here and who are not contributing a fair and decent product to the market will not survive.

But you guys have misguided anger towards the little guys, its not the small growers coming out here to finally do what they have been doing for years, with less consequences, that are ruining it for the rest of us. Its the large corporations and the greed that follows them.

Oh please tell me what I SHOULD be doing.
How can I appease you, Oh Master Grower.

Perhaps you could post your badass setup for others to learn from, that would be helping patients right? Indirectly, I mean the money wouldn't be going into your pocket, but you want to help the patient right, you can do that without even moving here. You can share your vast experience and knowledge about growing.
See, you can still help the patients and you don't even have to leave your computer!

you've made it real clear that you prefer to keep it only colorado and i respect your opinion. however, a healthy, reasonable debate doesn't start with hey fucktardo, i'm going to be banging your wife when you move out here. that crosses the rational reasonable person line. cmon. lets be adults here. I'd like to apologise for calling you a wookie and insulting your garden. peace

I think you hit the nail on the head MHDave,
Trust is a huge thing and until we can get past that as a collective unit we will never be able to fight against this bill, instead we will just continue fighting with each other. And thats just how the Romer and Matt Brown and their lobbyist firms want it!

what has harborside done to "fuck up the scene?"
is it the 10lbs they give away free to sick people every week?

What about the big money interests in Nebraska or Iowa or Florida or Arkansas that havent entered the scene but have millions on the sideline poised for 1284 to pass?

Nebraska, Iowa, and Florida don't have organized money coming in trying to dominate the industry. The people coming from those states are small time growers, still scared shitless.....

welcome to the world of American big business.
scary isnt it.

sounds like this:
For one thing Monsanto has come to our state, created a team of lobbyists, and crafted a bill designed to put independent farmers and seed breeders out of business and create a system where only those with big money backing them can survive.

this is where i see the difference. Harborside arguably has one of the best clinical mmj models in the US. they distribute a healing product with very little environmental impact and are socially responsible. Monsanto is constantly suing farmers, developing products that wreak havoc on the environment, and destroying the planet, making patented crops that feed millions if not billions, and genetically engineering their products. just wait till they develop the "roundup-ready kush"

I need no introductions to the world of GE crops, or corporate greed. There are definite parallels between the food industry and our cottage industry, only furthering our reservations about big $ interests.

I'm glad you believe Richard Lee and the like are saviors, but some of us disagree. I have seen many of his interviews, and he is in it for the wrong reasons IMHO. I'm not trying to say the guy is evil incarnate or anything, but every piece of legislation coming down (not just in Co) is unfair to MOST people, favoring large wal-mart style business, which IMO is going to very destructive to the MJ movement.

I have 2 throw in my 2¢ here...

I have know my way around Oakland (Oaksterdam) and I have friend in the business there. Yes, there are good people there, and the people that are there trying to produce good meds and make a difference are STAYING there, not invading Colorado. If I lived out there, I would want well grown Cali bud. But I live here, so I want local Colorado bud. Part of what MMJ, and MJ in general, has always been about is decentralizing the economy and directly adding wealth to the LOCAL community, even when it was illegal.

Some of you may of read about the arguments between Richard Lee of Oaksterdam and Dennis Peron (Jack Herer was involved in this arguement also). Essentially Dennis Peron and Jack Herer said that people like Richard Lee are trying to monopolize the industry and perpetuate a pseudo-legal market, where they can dominate but still charge street prices....this is obviously happening in Colorado now.

During the hayday of Oaksterdam (5-10 years ago), there were tons of shops in downtown Oakland, thanks to Richard Lee's diligence, there are only 4 now, 2 of which he owns (not Harborside). Everyone considered Blue Sky (SR-71, Richard Lee's shop) to be the worst one in town, and only stupid tourists would get sucked in there, much like the Bulldog or Grasshopper in Amsterdam (why do you think Richard Lee opened his own "Bulldog"). One of my good friends out there actually got into a huge argument with Richard Lee's personal assistant about "Activism" because that is what she was preaching while wearing Prada shoes and over charging for aphid infested clones and subpar meds.

Harborside on the other hand is doing some good things, I believe. Yes, they are a huge multi-million dollar facility, and yes they charge $60 an eighth for top-shelf, but their $45-$50 an eighth shit ain't bad either! (And lets face it, Cali is expensive, $4/gallon for gas, c'mon!) They take in a lot of product, and they don't grow any of it themselves. They prefer to buy from small growers, as most of the large warehouse growers in Oakland have gotten pissed off with Harborside due to their diligent testing for THC levels and mold. They prefer to use their resources for supporting the smaller guys that grow quality.

The truth is, there are greedy people everywhere in every state. And there are good people everywhere in every state that are just trying to do whats best for this plant and for all of us that love this plant....its just becoming harder and harder to tell what is their motivating factor...

I was really liking the bickering, oh well.
Please accept my apology back.

People just don't understand that the rest of the states are sitting around saying Cali SHOULD do this, Colo SHOULD do this...'You guys are just in it for the money', 'you're throwing the non-med states under the bus', 'greedy bastards just trying to protect your profits off the sick and dying'.

We sit around and think, 'If these people would just enact change in their own State, it would be legal'.
What if New York, Illinois, Georgia or Florida got MMJ going? We are not your Messiah! You are!

We know it is scary, that is how they have kept it down for so long.
Most stoners are pacifists or pussies (me included).
Marijuana is very smelly, bulky.
It takes a long time to grow and leaves many signs of it's existence. (easy prey for law enforcement)

That is why people keep it in the dark.
I was scared when I first got my card. I thought 'fuck, if they didn't know me before, they know me now'.
But that is what is required to win this. You get the doctors in your state onboard and it is all but won. The doctors are the ones with the REAL balls here. They have a lot more to lose than some stoner.

Little or not, the sentiment seems to be, I'm gonna come to Co and get rich growing weed, just like what happened to Cali. Do I blame them for wanting to grow quasi-legally? Absolutely not, do I resent that we residents are taking one up the ass because people want to come here and grow quasi-legally? Damn straight.

Are there a handful of people who decided that they would like to come here and be able to grow their 3 plants and be left alone, probably quite a few. But the wave of out of state "entrepreneurs" is what has us all pissed off. I don't want you think I am aiming this at you or anyone else in particular, I certainly welcome any and all people who have something to offer besides "changing the game" or my "90210 kush". I have respect and open arms for anyone who loves cannabis more than money!

here one of the letter I send out everyday:

To my representative,

I am writing you, to urge you to vote AGAINST HB1284. This bill is designed to fill the pockets of big business and it falls extremely short of helping the patient out in any way. I am a legal med. patient and I currently use a small to medium sized caregiver to obtain my meds. I have found the medicine from my caregiver to be of a much higher quality and lower cost than the meds that I have bought from local dispensaries. HB1284 will take that away, as I know my own caregiver can not afford to pay any exorbitant amount for a growers license and is not in the position to partner up with a dispensary.

In this election year, I will be looking to see which representatives are voting for this bill and those will be the ones I DO NOT vote for in November. As a publicly elected official you should be the voice for the people, not the voice for the large corporations who see Colorado as the new proverbial gold rush, so to speak.

I am pleading with you as a one of your constituents, Please Please Please vote AGAINST HB1284.

Thank You
Cannagirl

Hey Canna...it's folks like you that WILL make a difference. As I mentioned before, out of 102 people that testified, only 3 were for the Bill....one thing tho....you should be sending it to all of the reps, not just yours alone! Just add the rest into the BCC section of your email...

I have to spread the wealth before repping or voting again...

Florida will be the last state in the union to legalize, at this point that state has harsher MJ laws than even the federal govt. It will not be legal in Florida for a loooooonnnnnngggggggg time!

If you got every old person in Florida to smoke a joint, and then told them 'Hey, vote this in and you'll get it with your Viagra'...It would be legalized in a second.

What can I say, Americans like their drugs...It is just stigma that makes some acceptable and others not.

If you have never read the Big Book, then check out this short story "Doctor, Alcoholic, Addict".

The physician wasn’t hooked, he thought—he just prescribed drugs medically indicated for his many ailments. Acceptance was his key to liberation.

Why does everyone not see it??? Its Patients Choice, along with other asshole lobbyist big business companies trying to monopolize on our industry. Shame on you guys!!! You guys aren't fooling all of us... PRICKS!!!!!!!! :dueling:
Every time I have been in Patients Choice, they always brag about their 6 warehouses they use to grow in, yet they still charge damn near 60 dollars an 1/8th. So fuck them too!

I'm sorry...but Patient's Choice is definately NOT one of those we are against. Jim, the owner, is a local and, knowing him personally, I can tell you that, while growing alot of his own product, he buys more than 50% of his meds from vendors! In fact, Jim, being a Chef, also does most of his own edibles.

Find a real transplant to bitch about!!!
