I don't see any reason not to just have another cup later this year considering all things, most likely it would have run like a swiss watch had it not been for the volcano of the wrong kind mucking up travel so badly. You could call it the 2010 Volcano Cup! Closer to Christmas time maybe so maybe some outdoor entries can be tried? I could make sure there was some special Sweet Tooth to be toked upon for sure. ;)

Just a stoned idea..like always! :joint:

maybe next time OP can include a copy of the contest rules with each entry application pdf. it isn't really ideal if anyone isn't following the same rules as the rest. no matter who it is.

but the thing is now it's too late and many judges i'm sure never even saw that thread of Somas. these things need to be mentioned before the competition begins. complaining now if you don't happen to be a winner makes it look like sour grapes.

the muddle with the samples is another mater and i hope that was a one off mistake or misunderstanding, but in the end we are all human, no more no less lol. much kudos oldpink for all the work involved in getting it all organized. really pissed i had to miss it, hope i can make it next time.

Gypsy, I hope u get out of asia soon man. sorry to hear that.
In regards to the thread topic, i think u should keep in mind that many of us still hold this cup in very high regards... I love that there is a growers category for us here, and ill be working hard this year for my next years entrees...
with that being said, as a few have pointed out here, there were some problems...
this can happen to the best of things bro... what will benefit the cup the most is to use this to learn from mistakes, and to improve upon in the future.
clear, stated, rules given before entrees begin arriving... and I love somas gear as much as anyone but i think the rules(specifically about keeping the blindness of the judging intact) are there for a reason(unlike some rules like about pot)... keeping this cup completely fair and unbiased.
Perhaps more staff to handle the event(im sorry the bloody volcano ruined ur 420 man)...
I really hope the 420 cup continues to garnish its reputation for fairness and authenticity.. theres alot of weed that would never get the chance to be judged if not for the 420cup, and that undergroundness makes this probably one of the biggest, if not the biggest, underground cup. I hope it continues to be something special, and not turn into the HTs cannabis cup.
when u do end up getting the entree list and final scores from OP of all the strains involved this year I too would be very interested to see what all was entered as well.

dutchgrown and karma seeds... i dont think u come off as whining ur products didnt win. On the contrary... your opinions matter greatly as ur reputations have been quite established here within the cannabis community. I thank you both for being honest and helping to give next year a chance to be better than this year.

thx for pulling a nice cup organisers! i was lucky to be able to drive under the ash to the cup. meet many cannabis lovers, like myself, and had a lot of exelent bud and hash and fun. as always good to be at milas.

the arrangement itself was like last year, caotic and confusing, but i dont mind, im also a bongbrain. seems like op is doing all the practical stuff alone, he might need a hand or two, would be pretty easy to arrange. missed a time scedule saying where and what.

hope to see you all next year! bum shiva!

does anyone else have anything else that's negative to say about this years 4/20, because I would like to know, so I can make sure whatever the problems are that they won't happen again......

Hello Gypsy,

I don't mean to be shot as the messenger, but since you raised the question, here are some observations. For the positive bits, you can read elsewhere, my posts included.

- No judges passes were given, I at least was not given one. As in judge pass, I mean a piece of plastified paper saying, "Judge - IC mag Cup 2010". I still have my VIP pass of 2008 and its a great souvenir :smoke: The pass this year would also have been useful for judges to claim their discount when buying food at Dampkring.

- The 420 final venue was located far away. I heard about there not being enough public for the bands.

- Judge packs: The herb pack contained 30 samples of 1g. The hash pack contained 5 (a 6th one was given later, when I inquired) of about 0.5g. When you look at the price difference between packs, the hash judges ended up paying 3 times more, for 10 times less.

- "X said this, Y posted that": Sure there's a lot of that, I'll like to believe mostly because people don't read the rules and therefore rules are not always applied. A some suggestions to prevent this:
° Include a print out of the rules with each judge pack. Being is judge is more than smoking 20+ samples in 24 hrs, there's also a responsibility attached.
° Get "referees" to go around, people who have no other interest than a fair and fun Cup. They'll be the people to approach when something is not right during the Cup.
° The "refs" could also help with the preparation of the packs, and the counting of points. Having to hand in the judge pass at the same time and venue as where the final party is, adds extra stress to the point counter(s).
° By not having a Judge Pass, I could have approached anyone giving freebies away, ask them what they had and look for it in my judge pack, which wouldn't seem fair. I didn't do such a thing, but could easily have.
° Clarity in the results: Who voted on the 2 categories for which there was no section in the judge passes?

- The Cup would be a great place where (posting, photo, advice, etc) awards could be given to those posting on this site.

There you go, I said it. Most of it are my own observations. having said of this, I don't mean to bash on anyone. You made a question, and got my contribution to make next year's Cup even better! :jump:

An excellent Idea.

In all honesty I feel very let down, dissapointed and frustrated that I could not get there due to the Volcano. Pleaee consider having another cup later on during the year.

Sorry I've just got back online and read this
none of this was brought to my attention during the event, I wish it was
as something could have been done at the time to correct it
couple of good points raised about the rules being included etc
