Yeah pruning more of the lower branches that don't see as much light will reduce the popcorn. Mine just kind of overcrowded themselves so there were at least 4-5 branches on each plant that saw very little light. So those just had bunches of little buds.
I think the main and secondary colas are significantly affected when pruning off everything around the bottom of the stock. I've always been under the impression the plant will grow the same amount of bud regardless, but pruning the bottom means more of that bud is on your top and secondary colas.

Has anyone tried Grandaddy Purple Kush?
I picked up some clones in Rollinsville. They are just finishing up... harvested one early due to some major transexual tendenciesBut I got one that'll go 70-75 and it looks really nice!
WHAT!!! does that mean that you bought 2 grandaddy purple kush from THC in R-ville, and they were 2 different phenos? are they seriously selling clones that are unproven and not the same cut?

No these were both the same pheno. One of them got hit much harder than the other with Root Aphids, and I think that's what brought on the multitude of nutsacks.

Here is a pic I took of Civic Center Park in 2008 from the stage. This was the biggest crowd I have ever played to. I would call it the crowning achievement of my musical career (even though I was a sub in for the original guitar player). I just got a call a few days ahead to come play and had no idea there would be this many people.

I actually work in that industry. I don't want to give up much info...but I'm 100% positive that you...and everybody in this thread has been in my place of employment.
The same exact thing happened to me with the same cutting.
I think we can chaulk it up to the stress. What did you use for the aphids? Imid was my silver bullet.

Eh, I didn't find a silver bullet. I think I wiped 'em out with nicotine/pyrethrum and then 4 treatments of nematodes. Never saw another flier... not to say they aren't still chewin on the roots though.

Where do you think you got the aphids from? Now that I think of it, my problems started shortly after picking up those clones from THC. I didn't even consider it possible that I got the aphids from them... everything looked so immaculate.
Do you remember if you had aphid symptoms prior to buying those clones?

The band was Juba Juba and I'm thinking that you work at the oriental theater? I haven't been there in quite some time. I put my musical interests on hold about a year ago so I have been away from the scene for a while. Do they still have those pot lucks there?

I just ran a side by side test (in soil) with 5 gallon smartpots vs my 3.5 gallon square pots using two of the same strains in each. My yield is actually smaller with the smart pots FWIW.

I saw enough shows in the 90s to get over the whole smoking in public thing...
Yep, the only difference is the placement under the lights, which shouldn't have affected much based on my layout.

I hate to say it but these RA definitely came from THC then. Also, came with spider mites which were a piece of cake to get rid of! This is basically my first grow (besides several years ago many moves in between with all different equipment). I picked up most of my clones from THC and then 1-2 weeks later I got a few more at CAM on Broadway. I first noticed symptoms about day 15-20 of flower when I noticed one of my plants (Mr Nice from THC) was a slight yellow from roots to cola... the entire thing was a yellowish color that seemed to be getting progressively worse. I'd fed some nice doses of nitrogen and noticed no difference over a few weeks. I'd originally noticed the yellowing though in veg come to think of it... I just thought it was a different pheno clone since I'd heard there's 3 different pheno clones. By day 30 I had to chop it as it was entirely yellow. RA proceeded to infect every other plant in my garden and squash yields... I'm just harvesting now. But I should take a picture of this Sour Diesel plant... it's pathetic and sad and kinda hilarious in a sad way!
I didn't know anything about them beforehand... so I think I maybe would've been able to keep them in check with preventative treatments (nematodes - and neem actually seemed to work really well for me despite others saying it's worthless). I think I'll do neem soil treatments through veg next time... in addition to nematodes.
Although, I'd like to find out what THC uses for RA.
