Hey kush, yeah I don't have many rolling pins, but I have lots of sockets! They work a treat.

dongle69, I press it for a couple reasons. For one, if I do it in the celophane, it makes a nice little plank that can be carried almost anywhere and you can break off a little chunk anytime.
I believe that hash makers will press the polm so it releases the oils in the resin glands. I think this gives it the chance to age, or cure so to speak. I think hash that has been pressed and aged a bit tastes MUCH better than fresh polm. Kinda like fresh dried vs cured buds.

barnt, this method is an old one, and it works better than most would imagine. In fact, I have found that if I use only fresh trim that has been immediately frozen, I get very little veg material at all.
Mostly all golden polm.
And when done this way, the hash is often very pliable and gooey making it easy to form into balls, etc...
It also makes for fine smoke material as well. It will dome up like you see in these pro hash shots.
Ash?
Here is a ball of it I rolled recently...

Right on, Marquis!

Thanks for the kind words, chamba!
Yeah I remember the hash recipes being touted in HT. Sam brought us some great things.
As far as gumby goes...I know for a fact that Gumby and Pokey were around before the 80's, but I don't think they were gettin high. Although, they were great to watch while high!
There are guys in Hawaii that do big hash runs in several 5 gals and no bags on youtube. Very similar to the method I am showing. They call it gumby hash for whatever reason.
Here is gumby and his sidekick pokey...

Couple of g's of nice blonde kif into the cigarette cellophane.

Now get some newspaper and tear a small strip to wrap with.

Another strip of paper wet down nice.

Wrap it up!

Hot iron

Roll it out

Viola!

Two hits of that phucked me royal. I love the stuff from straight bud meat.
Hope y'all enjoy!

What heat setting do you set the iron on (nylon, wool, cotton/low, medium or high)? How long do you press it?Thanks!

Gold, I like to have the iron on hot...steam hot. Then only take several short strokes at it.
You need to watch the paper and when it looks like it is getting dry, you need to back off.
It won't take but a few times of this to make the plank stick. It will also turn a nice dark color when the trics are cooked and set.

If the resin that you get is real clean, you can just keep rolling it and it will become pliable and you can make balls out of it. When the palm has more green in it, it is harder for it to become pliable and soft.

Yeah, I have used a blender and it is for sure less messy. But I find that best comes from the egg beaters. The blender seems to produce more green leaf in the final product, although it still produces fine stuff.

The trics are heavier than water, so they sink to the bottom. There are no trics to speak of floating in the water after it has sat for an hour.
So, I suck all the water out...that still holds lots of micro floating trash, and chlorophyll.
All that I have left is a very small amount of water, and the trics.
If you ran all the water through, there would be trash left in the polm.
If that did happen though, all you need to do is put some more water back in and let it set for another hour and do it again.

If you disturb the canister it's in while sucking out the water...and the trics get mixed back up in the water at the bottom...stop and let it set again so they will settle back down. You want to be very steady and patient when sucking out the water, being careful not to disturb the resting trics below.

I had a thought, I have an iced tea gallon jug with a spigot in the side an inch up from the bottom. Would releasing the water that way controlling the amount of flow be faster and easier being careful not to disturb the bottom.

When I take the jug (container cannister whatever) out of the fridge, I am very very careful not to make any waves at all. I may even let it set for a couple of minutes before I start pulling the water out. It is a very tedious thing at the last inch or so.
I highly doubt that the water coming out of a spigot would not also suck trics along with it.
Maybe if you just dribbled the water out so there would be no fast movement.

Look at it this way, if your container holds 2 quarts, that is 64 ounces. A turkey baster sucks up about an once at a time. 60 or 70 pulls with a turkey baster...takes less time than one would think.

If you really want to be sharp, you could set up a siphon tube that goes to the level of where you want to stop.

I get the idea, but was thinking I could leave the jug right on the top shelf of the fridge and drain it out slowly, never even taking it out, I'll try it with some trim dust and see if it stays on the bottom.
Been busy curing and trimming, planted too many different strains, next time only one strain in the grow room.

I would look in the pantry at my house. I know lipton tea comes in boxes covered in cellophane.

I haven't tried it yet, but I think you could just take a square of writing paper and use that. Fold it as you want with the polm inside as if it were in cellophane, then do the rest of the ironing procedure. Some of the oils from the hot pressing will surely absorb into the layer of paper, but you should be able to peel the plank right out of it once it has cooled and hardened. You won't have the protection of the cellophane to protect it, but you should have a nice plank to smoke.
