does anyone out there in icmagland know if Marc Emery is serving his sentence in the U.S.? i can't seem find out his status after he was bonded out in canada last Nov. Marc is an amazing person. His bio is a very interesting story of someone who actually does take a stand. despite what some may say about his seed business he is one of the good ones in the movement. please no bagging on the man here just some current info.

Yes, he reached a plea deal with the U.S. Justice Department, agreeing to serve five years in federal prison. He's still fighting the extradition to the US. Read more at the link below...

marc was at the olympics don't know since then. it's funny i went to his going away party last year and he's still here.

Emery was taken into custody on September 28, 2009, and held at the North Fraser Pretrial Centre in Port Coquitlam, BC, to await extradition to the USA. On November 18, 2009, Emery was released on bail, pending the Canadian Minister of Justice signing the extradition order.





Sounds like he has been out on bail for a while.

Federal prisons can be strange. It's like you have to make a reservation to begin your stretch with some non-violent offenses. They don't always slap the cuffs on and haul you away, you have to wait until your 'room' is ready. My pal did a few years at club fed. Said he met an enlightened bunch in his minimum security digs. Doctors for Medicaid fraud, some child porn entrepeneurs who used to be college professors, even a few Wall Steet types. Another pal did a stretch in a federal Max and said that hell has to be a better place.

no JJ i dont think he has done things to deserve bagged on. some people think he capitalized off of seeds by inflating prices and not having anything to do with breeding. some others have other beef. the way i see it all that money went back into the movement anyhow so i dont see a problem with it but there are people i am sure who disagree with me on that. sounds like stoner4life may have a problem with mr. emery, but i do not. i just wanted an update on his status and couldnt find it on the net. i just didnt want some hate marc diatribe that is all.

his bragging bout selling/sending seeds to the US & thru the
USPS system enraged the govt & took what was a relatively
quiet industry (seed vending) and brought international attn
to it. His seed prices were always & exactly double that of all
the other internet sites because seed breeders wouldn't sell
to him wholesale. he bought retail and resold @ 2Xs the price.

and really what do you & I know about how much really went
back into the cannabis crusade, he's a Canadian citizen and he
has zero political backing in the states & even less of a say so
here. so legit legalization organizations distance themselves
from Emery rather than to embrace him as they did Tommy
Chong (a Canadian btw), Marc's left flappin' in the wind solo.

it's painfully obvious by now that Marcs mouth wrote
more checks than he was really willing to cash.......

If Emery impressed you by talking big then he's
fooled another one, I've been around the block
a few times and I shop by reputation & discretion.

It's OK I guess if you want to feel badly for Marcs position, seeds
are harmless, cannabis is harmless none of us deserves this onus
nor scrutiny of our peers and the law but Emery just couldn't keep
his mouth shut and has done more harm to the cause than good.

"You reap what you sow" comes to mind and his spoken word (or
the seeds he's sowed) have come to haunt him, here's two more:
"Let sleeping dogs lie" and "Don't fuck with the big dog"

Those who choose to ignore history are doomed to repeat it.......
