anyone that relies on this as their lively hood will be hurt financially. How many people are just spending the money, time and effort to not be rewarded financially. The answer, Not many. for those of you growing one or two plants in your closet you got nothing to lose The outdoor crap from humbolt will flood the market and only those set up with the finances and space will be able to afford to grow quality indoor. Hopefully boutique quality weed will be where its at, so people can continue to afford the indoor grows. its a good concept but a bad idea. think about it.

If you're not trying to sell it to others, you can easily grow enough to keep you smoking really nice buds in a 5x5 space. I know this, because I am growing enough to keep me smoking better than all of my friends who are buying it, and my grow space is 4.02 sq ft. That includes veg. My flowering chamber is only 2.01 sq ft! This law proposes that I be able to grow in a space that is more than five times larger than the amount that is currently keeping me in nugs!

Everybody who is saying "this isn't good enough, I'm gonna wait til they give us EXACTLY what I want" is smoking too much herb.

This is the closest we've come to legalization in about 30 years. Think of it like dominoes... If it becomes completely legal in one state, it'll be hard not to allow at least medical in other states. Once all states have medical and some states have it legal, the politicians will realize that its in their own interest to legalize it federally.

Half the world has criminalized MJ based on the US position. If the US makes it legal, the rest of the world is sure to follow.

It's baby steps people. Medical opened the door. Legalization in Cali will open that door farther.

If you're going to wait until corrupt politicians get it 100% right before you vote for it, you're going to be waiting long into your own grave.

its is our very own 1/8 and 1/4 customers that will beggg for legalization and ruin it for us all. i like the status as is. I enjoy ducking from the government and gettin money with my friends and family. gives me a rush, makes me feel like robin hood or some shit. if legalized marijuana is going to become almost boring... anyone feel similar?

Everyone voting "no" should be arrested for cannabis consumption (or more,) suffer police brutality and have a sweet jail time to figure what it is that they are saying.

Oh, possibly lose their children to the state if they have any.

Or maybe some of the "no" people are part of the criminal system and enjoy a lot of money thanks to the suffering of others (the mass of drug users in the justice system,) in which case they are vermin. If they vote "yes", they may enjoy cannabis's illegal status, but still are part of the solution, not the problem.

If you can't enjoy cannabis for what it is without associating it with the status of illegality, you're probably not worth the drug you're using. For most of history cannabis has been used perfectly legally and those were the people who enjoyed what it means to be high, not what it mean to be a politicized high-schooler (or the same intellectual level) in revolt against the system. But this sort of forum is ripe with conspirationists, extreme-leftists, warmists etc... people who think that having a Guevarra poster, buying organic soy milk and smoking cannabis helps the planet and makes them cool and popular, so i don't say it to win approval that's for sure.

I voted NO.

This initiative is commercially motivated. Let's not jump at the first attempt to make this right - we have held strong to our beliefs this long - let's not sell out so quickly. The plant is meant to be free. This is initiative is a sell out.

Who gives a shit if it is "commercially motivated" or not. What business is it of yours what anyone elses motivation might or might not be?

The Internet that you used to post that comment is commecially motivated. So is the website that you posted it on. See that seed banner up there?

I'd log off if commerce disgusts you. Also might want to consider stopping eating. All that food is just commercially motivated.

If you want to be jailed for smoking, vote no. If you want to live free, vote yes.

Pretty god damn simple.

Everyone!!

Please dont vote for this! It makes criminals out of us!

We could already walk around with an oz and get a $100 fine. Now 18-20 year olds will be subjected to 2-7 year sentences!!

They only limit you to 1oz and 25sqft of growing space! That is a SLAP IN THE FACE!

I dont want to be a criminal because I harvest 10/20/60 oz.

Plus, the east bay will be the new Amsterdam. Mark my words. If more counties could sell this stuff, then the world tourism that will hit California will spread out but now it will be centered in Oakland.

Just like Richard Lee wanted.

This is to further his agenda. He is almost as bad as Hearst.

Whatever amount of pot it takes to keep you medicated has nothing to do with how much it takes for anyone else. Do you cook with your cannabis? Make it into lotions? Nobody has the right to tell people how much is enough. Lately I have to smoke about 3 grams a day. Your setup would not be enough. people have the right to try different strains to see what works best for them...in such a case you need to keep several mothers, take clones from different phenotypes, grow them out, cure them and test. Then you get rid of the moms you don't need and so on. Thats a lot of plants. Why should you have to cram in to such a small area? Limitations are only in there to stop an average house becoming a huge grow op and compete against the Mr. Lee's out there.

I like what else you had to say:tiphat:

It doesn't matter anyway, if your medical, then this has nothing to do with you.

This law would be far from perfect I agree. BUT....it is better than what we have now. It WILL keep THOUSANDS of people out of jail and keep them from getting caught up in the system...thats a good thing. And if the East Bay is the new Amsterdam....whats wrong with that?:blowbubbles:

when you say you want weed to stay illegal you are "wishing jail on fellow ic members"

if you had been to prison for years over prohibition like some of us...

but you have not..

for all of you who want me to go back...i DO hope you get to visit for a few years (maybe it will wake you up)

voting no to this bill is sentencing stoners to jail for your own greed plain and simple..

i voted, then viewed the poll results. after seeing 42 people voted no i did not need to read the thread. if its legal, people DONT GO TO JAIL FOR IT. that is all i, or anyone here needs to worry about. all else is secondary and therefore not as important. im kinda embarrassed and ashamed that 40 sumpin people are of the opinion it should stay the way it is. and dont bother regurgitating the same shit a few people have been spreading around on the boards about the benefits of keeping the statusquo..yes everyone has a right to an opinion and hearing both sides is useful...blah blah blah...people are in JAIL right now. JAIL. if you think it shouldnt be legalized im willing to bet you have NEVER BEEN TO JAIL. and no, dui's and d&d overnight "timeouts" dont count. tell you what, if the politicians and sheep ever team up w the dumbfuk stoners that seem to exist in way too high a number ever get together, whats right and just will NEVER happen. to use one of 'thier' catch phrases, zero tolerance for bullshit should be our only stance. LEGALIZE NOW or get the fuck outta our way. sheep of another flock and all that...have a nice fuckin easter

What thousands are going to jail right now? Maybe for going overboard, but they will still go to jail with this new legistlation. Its only legal as long as you follow their guidelines, get it?!?!

No you are wrong. People make their own choices. What did you do to get into prison? Smoke a couple joints? I doubt it, if so, I AM genuinely sorry. but now you can with our medical laws!

You still can go to jail on this bill!

If you are 18-20 years of age you CANNOT SMOKE. You can defend your country, own a gun, vote and smoke cancer causing ciggerets but you cannot smoke!

They will be subjected to JAIL TIME if they smoke. This is on the new "jail proof" bill you keep talking about.

If I have more then 1oz, I am a criminal! I dont know if that is jail time, but I am a criminal.

This bill makes ME, a CURRENTLY LEGAL USER, AN ILLEGAL ONE. Unless it doesn't touch current medicinal laws which I am admittedly unsure of.

ALREADY no one goes to jail for 1 oz of cannabis. THAT IS HERE AND NOW.

Show me some people that went to jail for 1oz of cannabis. recently..

BTW, you can kiss personal breeding goodbye with these limits!

I think it will pass, but am fearful of the big corporations (that already own huge plots of land) screwing things up for everyone.

Just look at it like this. You can buy a six pack of budwieser or miller from one of the huge beer companies, which is pretty inexpensive and (imo) tastes like shit and takes a lot to get you buzzed; or you can buy a six of a local craft brew that was made with care and with special focus on taste and aroma, it may cost a little more, but you know the difference in price is more than made up for in more important areas.....

That analogy already applies to the pot business and I don't think much would change with legalization except maybe the packaging and marketing....

I assume you're under 21 then?, lol... I sort of understand some of your points, but that part of your argument was weak as hell.

If you think after decades of prohibition that a decrim law would allow people under 21 to smoke, you're nuts. The precedent has unfortunately been set on that front. Don't forget that in the eyes of the gov't, cannabis is consider much worse than alcohol which has a legal age of 21 attached to it. Why? they can fight for the country and own a gun.

You know, this initiative only specifies a 25 SQUARE foot limit, not cubic. That means we have no vertical limit on our rooms. So unless they consider separate chambers as grow space then we could have as many plants as we could fit into a 5x5 area times how ever many 5x5 chambers we can fit vertically. If it does work that way (as it is not specified) this could be great for AF growers like myself. For instance, if I had a 5x5x10 space, then with AF's I could have 5 5x5x2 rooms. Lets say I fit ~20 plants per 5x5 area, that is over 100 plants. If I were to yield over 10g's per plant (no problem with newer AF's) that would give me over 1kg in under 70-75 days at most, in a year that could easily turn into over 5kg; 5kg a year is = to ~420g a month. Realistically, you could yield much more than that given that new AF strain can yield up to 2 oz or more.

I'm over 21.

I got confused at the end of your comment.

I always have more then 1oz on me at a time. I harvest way more then 1oz. I will become a criminal with this new bill..

You guys might as well "drop the gaval" yourselves on my case because I will be a criminal.

Thanks guys.
At least 420 and 215 kept people from going to jail, not just change who did.

And I kind of understand (dont agree with though) why they made the age 21.

To all those people who say " You are voting for us to go to jail!!!" You are voting for those who use over 1oz and those that are under 21 to go to jail when you vote yes.

Thanks. At least we ALL could be protected fairly well under the current legislation. We have waited this long, why not wait for the right bill.. It takes about 50% more votes to amend it then to get it on the ballot. It wont change for YEARS AND YEARS.

i went to prison for a grow that would be legal under this bill
that was many years ago

i just got off probation for a grow that would be legal under this bill (3 years and 15k in fines and lawyer fees)

do you really want that to continue?

What did you have like 100 plants in SOG? Was this in the eighties, nineties? I have to assume something was over the top. It is rare someone goes to prison for a grow that is under 25sq ft in California these days, pretty rare.

With that said, you are legal now! Thank god right?

I dont want to become a criminal. Are you ready to take that responsibility? Well, all the responsibility is MINE, I make my bed. But you know what I mean? You will be voting on legislation that effects my life negatively.

This SHRINKS current laws! I want to EXPAND our laws and coverage. Not shrink it.

If you are "legal" now under this future bill, you are legal NOW (if you are medical).

I want cannabis legalized, not limited MORE then it is now.

You keep more than an oz on you ANYWHERE you go? Their is no limit inside your home, the 1 oz applies only to the amount you have on you OUTSIDE of your home. I don't see many situations that you would need more than an ounce outside your home. Though if you did, just bring a couple of friends. Lets say you bring 3 friends with you, give each of them an ounce before you leave. Magically, you now have 4 oz's, amazing!!!
