yesterday we did a run of the material bonecarver used for his last jelly and got out another 3-4 g of oil, we mixed into 5 g of hash and it turned out very nice.

im soon going down to bone to do another big run.
peace

hehe :D yeah man!

this run today was amazing.. about 18g of rock solid glass like resin. it only is sticky when close to melting temps. we mixed in abnout 20g of hash.. originally it was 23 but in the hurry and hype around the bho evap and mixing process i managed to throw out 3 g of kif on the floor. hehe a little offering to the hash gods maybe hehe :D

the jelly looks a lot like some turkish "glas" hash. its as dark and makes a "snapping" noise when cracked up.

the fun part is that the material used for bho will give an other 20% of the original volume more or less, so we are looking forward to an other 5g or so!! in 2nd run!

ill post pics asap. im lazy and got my studio setup so its music making when i get time over. the jelly hash seems to allways be more potent than anything else , and this particular batch is killer.

in the oil there went:
deep chunk
chitral - purple pakistani
sweet and sour diesel / ssh/ptk/ptk
ssh/ptk
chronic
powerplant

i might have forgotten something, but u can get the picture. amazing mix of golden goo. took the oportunity to make lots of 7mp macro pix with my fave sony cam.

all in all amazing evening.

in a few weeks there will be some other plants ready for bho, lets see if this batch will gewt beaten or not.

should add it was all in all 130 grams of pure nug once picked clean of leafs and stems and such, and the yield is pretty good. we kept the sugar trim in the material, but all fans were gone.

the scary part with big extractions is the feeling of beeing disarming a bomb virtually everytime. 12 ans of butane is almost 5 liters of liqiud butane and its definetly enough to blow up a house if things mess up.

DONT DO IT AT HOME KIDS!! ITS DANGEROUS!

damn ill take time to post a pic... u gotto see this

be rigth back

one of the scariest moments where we had a tiny blow out but no material came out.later in the evap i thought it looked like alot of material had gone out but it was just huge lumps of brown goody:D
we do it darth vader style with masks :D nice not too get butane buzz for a change

there where also (ssh x ptk x ptk) x (ssh x ptk x ptk) in the mix,
i bet its that one that smelled like catpiss:D

hehe stinky mix for sure!

yeah forgot to mention the funny almost blow out - one of the tubes was halffull with material. the gas pushed the material towards the screens, and not untill the pressure was high enough did the resin come out, but it did just "come out" - it was a clear bang and woosh. like a bho cannon of sorts. scetchy moment!

the stream that came out was VERY dark and turned the butane/bho mix into a murky almost not see thru liqiud for a while, but after a little bit it cleard out and left was lumps of resin floating around..

it was kind of funny. ..

time for some pics!

first one pic form one earlier run :Dabout 2 weeks ago

:D

its been some very very stressing days with long nights,..

the reason was a architect inspection for my house... i had to take down and hide all plants (100+ with clones!)..

the veg area i took down completelly and the flowering area i took down lights and all equipment. i moved in lots of painting equipment to make it look like a room prepared with ventilation for paiting.

all plants i hid in my workshop, under tablesaws, workbenches and such. also i bought a plastic locker with shelves, and doors where all the clones fit, also i used 2 300 liter plasic compost containers to hide the vegging clones from the past autumn.

it was completely impossible to see there has ever been a grow op there..

well

later came the architect/inspector that for coincidense happened to be friends of family of my gf's so they didnt even go inside to check...

now i got a great oportunity to remake my grow area and try to plant things a bit better, althought some things is unlikelly to change.

all in all it was a PITA but it was worth it, i was only lucky the architect didnt even go inside. now i got an other architect friend of me, that i can get to make drawings of the grow area, with only giving her measures. but things got get sorted, nd i hope i wont have to take the grow down under stress ever again :D

im thinking mainly as a change for the grow rooms, is to make more light proof the whole flowering area, so i can have it more open and breathing. i really want more air circulation in there, so i want to avoid curtains that will block too mcuh of the flow.

the veg area i will make more open in the structure so i also get better air flow in there, also i want to be able to spread out plants a little bit better by distributing the fluoros better.

also im really seriously thinking about getting a 400W hps for the moms and bigger vegging plants.. lets see

rigth now i got all big vegging plants, mothers and revegged moms, under 3 x 600W in my workshop, some of them waiting for getting cut for bho, and others are i need to spray with biological fungicide before i flower or put them back into the new veg area.

:D

Hey Bonecarver,

glad to hear your architect's inspection went well. have fun setting everything up again. great to see you still sharing the love with everyone here. great work as always. i'll be looking forward to reading about the improvements you make.

:D i have finally finished the grow op building for now :D

the biggest change to before is a cloning shelf i built, with 3 ledges that fit all in all a hella lot of clones, much more maybe than i will use most of the time :D this has made the space better distributed in the veg area for ventilation etc. its all more concentrated now, while before i had it spread out over a bigger space.

in the flowering area the diamond film is the biggest change. i covered everything with it. walls and ceiling...

also to top off i put in one more 600W in the same space so its a lot more brighter all over :D thanks vend! :D

also i removed the curtain that i had separating the flower room, from the adjacent work space. instead i have a small 60cm long curtain like thing only in the top part - to reflect what light it can but still aloving air flowing in all over the 2x2m wide entrance. this means a lot better watering accessability, airflow and such.

also i took time to black out the adjacent area better, with double curtains of thick black plastic in the entrance, also the air inlets got an extra check upon to make sure there is not light getting in from there. becaue earlier the curtain closing of the area took care of that, but without curtain i need to take some extra measures. i also put double layer of black duct tape on all electrical apliances that i allready had covered the leds etc off long before, but i thought 2 extra layers wont hurt...

also there is 2 big dehumidifiers working side by side drying the air coming into the flowering area. they take out about 10 to 16 liters of distilled water from the air each 24h period.

also i find out the plastic im using to cover the tray has some small holes that i hadnt seen when i was mending it with silicone, but atleast now i know more or less where they are and i will try to decide if to fix it or getting an other plastic. i think the later is less work :D

also the flowering table is now at a heigth of 60-70cm and it alovs me to flower both big and smaller plants, but also since the trays are higher up than before, the air movement down there has improved also, and there is less stagnated humidity. also i have installed a small fan in this area to move the air extra. im sure this will add many many years to the life length of the table/tray.

all in all i done a lot of changes to make the flowering room a dryer place. later in the year when the temps and humidity alove it i will switch off one dehumidifier (600W of continous use!).

in short it has been a exhausting week and a half, taking thigns down and rebuilding it. but it was worth it.

only thing left i got for later is to put in more lights in the veg area, in a part that i did not have enough light fixtures to cover, but also at the moment i dont need that part at all, so its not a big stress. but it would be the last few improvements i need to do, besides buying new bulbs :D

hehe im stubborn and with principles :D i dont sell bud even if im unemployed now, so i have to get things together slowly :D hehe selling buds would suck since in the end id end up buying low quality smoke, because if i sell my bud, what will i smoke? there is nothing else than shit around, unless one got a liking for smoking mouldy nugs full of insects, as most people around here doo. its gross, but they dont care.. lol but it means the comercial market is a complete disaster.

so better bho those pm nugs and be happy with my top class resin ::D :D

this nigth i was up untill 6 trimming and cleaning and harvesting plants for next big bho session. dont know how much material we got togethr yet, but it might be an other 1/4 pound, or more. but this time a lot more of the material is fully mature, since finally, it seems like i got the PM under bay.. at the moment atleast ...

i got biological fungicide i will spray soon. the product is based in copper ( Cu ) should help to fight the pm once and for all.

btw into the bho is going, chronic, crippleberry, powerplant, ssh/ptk, ograscals pre98bubblegum cross and last but not least some of our crosses (vend's contribution to the material for bho) that i dont know for sure yet what all it is :D

well :D looks like we are in for a big session again...

peace all!

well, arctic sun - you asked about our method for bho :D i tried having a look at your link but i cant see the pictures?!?!

step by step;

* cut up all material quite fine for example same size as when u make a joint. trim-leafs we leave pretty much intakt. - this is to make sure the butane reaches all the goodies. but doesnt get too much contact with the interrior of the leafs (one reason for green bho)

* we boil water before the run - to have it ready for the evap. in BIG runs we extract the butane into a container that is in hot water - this saves a lot of time and also it avoids a big build up of gas when suddenly 3-4 liters of butane evaps. i recoment this for any run using more than 4 cans of butane.

* use double 20u screens in the exit to avoid all possible plant material contamination.

* make a pimping extraction cotraption so that you dont have to hold the tubes in the hands while pushing the cans thru it. i recomnd pro camera tripods, they can take a lot of weigth. to this its possible to tie as many bho extraction tubes as needed.

* when extracted we put water to boil, but when the water is 80º we disconect the heater, and let the bho evap. if the water cools, we switch on the heater for a moment, but under no circumstance do we let it boil more than a few bubbles. if this happens we add a bit of cold water to cool it a bit.

* when there is not any more visual bubbling action (means the buthane is gone, but also the propane, all canned butane contain some it seems. even if its a small % this part is what is the last to evap. its because of the higher evap point. people that DONT do this will be smoking propane, unless they let it evap for a length of days at higher than room temp.

* next part is as important. when we make jelly hash we mix the ground hash powder into the oil, while the powder is frozen, and the oil is hot. and we stir like crazy for up to 30 minutes still with same temperature treatment as above. stiring the kif under heat into the oil will make the most homogenous mix. also this will make the resing glands of the hash break and let out their goo, and this adds a lot to the flavour and smokeability of the mix.

* we cool down the finished jelly in the freezer once it has been scraped up from the pyrex container. i use industrial plastic wrap, i dont know the brand, but it is very resistant and much thicker than household varieties, to mould the jelly into a shape, or for pressing and wrapping. if the bho is a bit sticky the plastic will still be able to remove with no trouble. also freezing the plastic will make it possible to get rid of stuck pieces.

one thought to add is that a good jellyhash is a hash that is very potent, tasty but also possible to handle and use without loosing a great amount of resin on the hands. starting with solid bho is a help, but also its a must to work the mix under heat, this will turn the hash to a solid mix once cooled down.

during summer here we can press the oil into drysieve but its a lot more work and does not guarantee a good texture. when we press it in by hand we fold bho into a pressed flat piece of hash, and keep folding and pressing atleast for 20 times. some math to explain. first its 2 layers, when u cut it in 4 pieces put it on top of each other and repress, u get 4 double layers of bho/hash = 8.

once again cutting it in 4 pieces after pressing, pileing it up and pressing again will result in 8x4 layers, after next cut and press 4 pieces on top of each other its 32x4 layers = 128layers.

its obvious next few runs of pressing we get into over 1000's of microscopic layers of bho and hash, and finally its all one goo.

same method is used by swords and knife smiths :D to make damascus patterend steel, or to mix 2 kinds of steel for flexibility and stregth.

fun stuff.. pressing hash :D

peace!

Hey Bonecarver, strange that you cannot see the pictures, they are on an imagehost site, I can see them myself, cant think of a reason why you shouldnt be able to?

Thanks for the detailed description of the BHO process, ill try the part with mixing with kief.

blessings guys, lovin the show as always :D

too grind the hash we put in we use a cofeegrinder that is stored in bones freezer all the time.
its a hazzle trying to grind up roomtemp hash, you wil find out it sticks like a mofo on the sides and on the blades of the grinder.
peace

B

bonecarver_OG

yeah vend is rigth :D even freezing the hash its a strain on the grinder :D

this weekend 150g of nugs gone into bho. and still i fear im going to get more plants with PM. but i really hope its not going to be a big part of the plants...

peace all!

B

bonecarver_OG

last jelly hash i made was with mostly indica nugs... and it surelly shows in the end results... heavy as a sledgehammer hit to the head. cant do much at all after smoking this..

peace all!

hehe sounds like my kinda product, it's one area where i haven't ventured yet, mixing bho with bubble. i don't make much bho either to be honest. but good idea to make it with pm'ed bud. been fighting that pm biatch too. looks like i will be getting a bottle of some stuff by bayer, at the 420, it's supposed to be the end all treatment for pm. so far i have been spraying fenicure every week till week 3 of 12/12, now i hope it stays away till week 8.

anyway, thanks for sharing your jelly hash mixing folding technique, very interesting.
