I'm stoked about this too. Subscribed. I agree w FreezerBoy completely, really great to see these side by side's running like this one and the others that are going. I think these LEDs are really showing promise, especially to micro growers like me.

Best of luck. Hope it shows well.

Update-- March 21st

Day 28 Veg.
I transplanted the girls today into their final container and gave them a good watering :plant grow:
I also took some pictures of their roots and I'm pretty sure you can see the micro herd colonized around the roots. I've never confirmed this though.

Ok so I tried getting a picture of the LED's wavelength distribution but it still didn't work out as well as the others but Ill post what I got.

I also took pictures of the sun's, a 2700K CFL, and the 4000K MH I'll be using for flowering. The sun's distribution is so cool..

2700K CFL

4000K MH for flowering

THE SUN :headbange
Couldn't get the colors as bright because I had to darken the whole box because the sun was so bright, but look at how full the distribution is. No bulb compares (obviously). Just neat to see how it covers everything :joint:

The ladies are doing very well, I'll have an update in a few days when I water them for the first time after the transplant.

Update March 29th

Its been about eight days since I transplanted the ladies. I just fed them today and did some more LST on them.

I fed all ladies with a veg tea that brewed for about 40 hours. Same batch for all four ladies.

So far they look amazingly close in growth. :dance013: The biggest difference I've noted between the two groups is the LED branches/stems seem to have more girth. A little counter intuitive if you ask me, either way, it is what it is.

They will go into flower in about seven to ten days. :plant grow:

Enjoy :canabis:

looks great Frozen, cant wait for the next month or 2!! im on board.

any way you could elaborate on your Lambda box and how you are measuring the wavelengths or efficacy thereof?? i don;t understand how you did that. any extra info on the lambda box would be great. IMO, the 2700k cfl looks pretty similar to the sun. you would think the hps would more so.....

For anyone who likes to look at side by sides, I took a few minutes to arrange Frozen's photos. MH on Left, LED on right:

Yeah they all should be bands straight down, like the CFL but it was difficult getting a good shot of the MH while it was hanging. I need to set them up outside the cab pointing up to get a good shot.

The colors you see are the exact (camera actually may change it a tad..) representation of the color of the wavelength emitted.

I can calculate that exact number in nanometers using a formula I made after calibrating the box on two lamps. One of excited pure hydrogen atoms, and another lamp of excited pure mercury atoms.

I can post numbers later, when I have time to input them, although they will have a decent margin of error as I built this box with scotch tape and cardboard haha..

But the colors are definitely accurate.

Hey thanks! I'll make sure do that ahead of time on the next update. Much easier to compare that way.

thanks for the clarification, but please, whenever you have a second, i would love to take a look at your formula & the numbers/inputs you spoke of. I can understand the Lambda Box a bit better, but still not quite there haha. i really find this fascinating & incredibly Useful, most importantly. what components are needed to build this box or could you describe how you made it & just anything other info, if possible. i am really stoked about the Lambda box man hahaha. i always wondered how my cfl set ups used to just have better quality/taste/ potency than my much larger yielding HID arrays. i think if there was a 1000w 2700k cfl, it would crush the HPS, & perhaps others types (mh, cmh{?}, LEDs). however, we know it is impossible to have such a powerful CFL that doesn't generate crazy heat & take up a lot more space. LEDs in the future, near future & present will be the best, IMO. anyways, sorry for digressing. the Lambda box prompted this little reverie b/c it clearly showed me that it very closely resembled the sun in wavelength nM. the penetration of a cfl just will never touch 1,386 w/per square meter (i think..) of pure unadulterated sun penetration. anyhow, thx again for the info.

LED Girl - the side by side is clear. for less power, less heat, less hassle period!!!, the LEDs keep up with or, rather yet, surpass the HID 'equivalent.' the LED side, especially the bottom pic, look fuller & have better fan leaves & stem structure, IMO. i know camera angles can be tricky, but time will show I am sure....

Yeah I'd love to share that. I can't post it today because I'm studying for a big test tomorrow, but I can post it up tomorrow night.

To calibrate the box, you need to have access to a lamp of excited atoms of two different gases. Its not a common thing at all, I got to use some at my local community college.

Although, I guess if I provided the exact measurements on everything on my box, and you matched them perfectly, you could use my calibration. That could work..

This box you built is pretty cool. Whoever says smoking weed makes you stupid is an idiot.

yeah i missed this one - looks awesome. i agree that MH or CMH gives a nicer quality weed than HPS.

im sure i remember the lambda box from my school days. is it that the different wavelengths of light travel at different speeds that allow you to split them up into a spectrum? - like light travelling through a prizm type thing?

very cool stuff

VG.
