How often do you flush? Please Help!

I was wondering how often do you flush your plants i heard it is ok to just clean the rez every week add the same nutrient plan every time you clean the rez and only flush towards the end? I was planning on running just straight distilled water towards the last 2-3 weeks of my flower period before harvest i dunno if this is best or to be flushing consistently please help!

Not trying to be a dick but use the search feature on the forum. Other people will give you hell for questions that are repeated often.

I am a new grower myself. I COMPLETELY drain my rez once per week and add the nutrients to the strength that I need and adjust ph. I check every day and top off with plain water and adjust ph as needed. I do not top off with nutes everyday because I think it is a pain. As for flushing, I just use distilled water or RO if you have it 10-14 days before harvest. I am no professional, just wanted to give you a response.

I flush all my plants ones a week pick a day perhaps every Friday you give your girls some water till they get a good run off, when you getting close to harvest flush for 14 days and you'll have some smooth smoke just make sure you give each plant lots of ph plain water.

I flush once a week. If removes any salt build ups and old nutes in the medium. To me a flush acts like a refresh for the plants pallete so when you hit it with nutes again you will have a clean canvas lol

flush once a week. MJ loves h2o2 so 3ml when you change rez and half that every day. Dont flush for 2 or 3 weeks , you;re going to deprive your plants...four day flush is good enough mate. one week at most.

I hate flushing this system though, it's to slow to fill n drain the last few inches. Is there an easy tool I can get like a lil baby vaccum to suck out the last littler bit of water??

Clean it with a big towel and it will soak up the rest.

Try taking a reading of your root system and you'll see the build up of salts! Flushing is always a good idea.

Drill a 1/2" hole in the side of bucket just off the bottom. Put the gromet in the hole and place the 90 plastic elbow with the rubber hose facing up in the hole. Have the hose taller then the water level..When you want to empty flip the hose over. , you still need to towel the bottom. Do you use hose y's on your rez line?

Well I use the grommets then 1/2 ID line, like picture a.

But no I have no valves on the lower section yet because I haven't figured where the best location would be. I do know where to get the nice 1/2 valve though.

I have a 2 Gal control bucket and its up on some 2x4's sideways so it's bottom is higher than the 5 gal flowering plants, so I cant drain from there. I was thinking to just put a lil pump in one of the 5 gal buckets and drain and flood from there.

But now I am thinking of switching my control bucket to a 5 gal so I don't flood it when flushing the others. Also I can then put it on the ground and drain from it as well. Also I was thinking of instead of 1 line from the control bucket "daisy chaining" to the 4 buckets I will run all 4 flower pots their own line from the control, with a valve right next to each bucket.

Yeah your right bud and after reading this thread I think i will start to flush them with pure water maybe once every 2 weeks or so.

Do you use just pure water of PH adjusted water ?

I have very hard water about 10 EC out the tap PH about 7.2

you need to ph the water before flushing
ones a week or every 2 weeks its fine, this will actually allow your girls to eat more and at the end you don't have to flush as much because you been keeping the salt build up to a minimum hope this helps.

So you just keep topping off your reservoir for 2 months or more with more nutrients Man I would Like to push it to every 2 weeks instead of every 1!

Yeah. I just keep topping off and make sure my solution stays at my target tds and pH.
