Alllright fellas, I need some help. Just shows how little I know. I think the clock's tickin if it hasn't already ran out...

So. Ugly eh. In my excitement at planting my very first MJ seeds, I did it all very wrong. I forgot to presoak. So it was taking a long time for these bad boys to pop. I had them in a little mini greenhouse thing above my fridge while they were germinating. I've got exams n shit all this weeks so honestly, I kinda forgot about em. And then I came home today and there's these probably 3 inch, browny lookin sprouts with some piss ass growths at the ends of em that came up overnight pretty much. I took them out of the cupboard and put em in the PC (not even sure if that's the right thing to do) gave em a little sprinkle more of distilled water...

What now? Why are they so tall already? Help I feel really dumb!

I put em under light because I figured thats what they were reaching for, and why they got so long...maybe the mini greenhouse lid kept it too hot/humid in there...

Than that was your problem, if a seedling doesn't see light once it pops it will begin to stretch. You want light on them as soon as you put them in the ground. I keep 24/0 light on all of my seeds before they pop, even if it is only a 23w cfl, that way no matter when they brake soil they will have light. That doesn't explain why they are brown though, that seems like a lack of water to me.

Cool thanks for the tips GB. Yea I intended to chuck em under the CFLs right when they popped, I just didn't think it'd be so fast. And they're already greenin' up, so I think they'll be ok. Is their freakishly long stem gonna be an issue now?

No, they haven't stretched too much, though if it gets worse just bury the stem a bit when you transplant.

I just read through your entire thread (i should have done that in the first place) and your defiantly going to need to LTS the strain you selected. Sativas are not the best choice for pc grows as they get tall, so keep an eye on that, especially since they have already stretched. Also, I don't think those CFL's are going to cut it for 2 plants, though you might only get one female if any at all so it's not a huge concern. You could fit more lights in there by getting two Y-socket's and putting them on the ends of that powerstrip. Hopefully you'll have enough clearance for a normal socket in the middle (giving you 5 lights) if not you'll at least have 4, which could make a significant difference.

Thanks again GB (wicked avatar). Yea I intend to only grow and keep one bonsai mother in there, so I hope I can train one of these suckers well enough to fit in my puny box. If I get it to the point where it's a little too big, but I still managed to bonsai it a bit, I might even just put it out in my room under it's own CFL lamp of a higher wattage or something. I'm hoping I can eventually make it look like just another interesting piece of bonsai'd foliage, hidden in plain sight. Maybe even get it a nice looking bonsai style pot...hah getting a little ambitious. I think I've just gotta keep my focus on keeping these plants alive.

Lookin better today. Both stems are a little twisted though. I opened the box just after the lights came on and the temp had dropped to just under 20c/68f. Might be a bit chilly but I left my room window open otherwise it gets too hot too. Gonna have to play with the room temps a bit. Middle one still has shown itself. Don't think it will.

Awesome, you've got real leaves now, there looking good. Don't worry about the stems, you'll be able to train them any way you want once they get bigger.

Your right though, temp are a little low, especially for this stage.

Very depressing...:badday:

My box is really dry, I think because I have so much airflow. Humidity never goes past 30%. So these little peat balls dry out so fast, I can't even keep up. I had to work a lot this weekend so I didn't have any time to keep an eye on these poor things. The peat got so dry within like, 20 hours, even after I had a good soaking with water to spare in the bottom. I came back tonight, they were all wimped out laying on the ground. Still green though... I built the fuzzy brackets really carefully, and placed em in there so they could still grab some light...really not expecting a survival here...

If they do pooch out I'm going to have to redesign and re-plan my whole setup I think. I had them running 20/4 and the 4 hours off were noon-4pm, which was just inconvenient. Gotta rethink this and try again I think...we'll see what happens.

Hey Greenbastard, I got an indoor mix from narvana, the site quotes the following, ( Master Kush, Afghan, Pure Power Plant and Skunk #1, and Nirvana Special! ), 2 of each but they are not labeled....lol gona be a supprise with every seed.
The freebies are Mandala Safari mix and as quoted from site ( The Safari Mix contains a mix of seeds from various strains that are in Mandala's breeders stock. It is ideal for a colourful range of fine cannabis ) so yea another lucky dip.
Should be able to get something nice out of all that, just gona need some time to try them all.

Glimmbo, Just keep the water up to them mate, if you are having a problen prehaps leave a little water in the tub about 1/2 inch and see how that goes, might just keep the peat balls moist as they wick wick up the water as is needed.

Cheers all...

Down to one

Well the one on the left in previous pictures couldn't make it. The stem got too shriveled and damaged to be useful in holding it up and getting water to the leaves I guess. This one is still iffy. New set of leaves sprouting at least.
