for Mothers I mix the amendments even.......2 TBS Bone meal, 2 TBS Blood meal ad I post up for Mothers and do root trims. I also add something like Greensand for longer term release of nutrients.

I also add less perlite.

Not to quibble burn, but bonemeal does not burn.

Agreed though, the more you can ripen soil, and the less you disturb it, the better things work. And remember steamed bone meal is pretty fast.

castings actually buffer pH, for instance, and a worms gut uses calcium to help microbes break down food. Plenty of P in there too.

That said, I let soil sit almost 2 months. I drench it with ewc slurry.

Regarding recipe 5. Will I still produce good yields with this compared to the other methods?

For veg growth…
1 capful 5-1-1 Fish Emulsion
1 capful Neptune's Harvest 0-0-1 Seaweed or Maxicrop liquid
1 gallon H2O

For early flowering…
1 tbs. Neptune’s Harvest 2-3-1 Fish/Seaweed
1 gallon H2O

For mid to late flowering…
1 tbs. Neptune’s Harvest 2-4-1 Fish
1 gallon H2O

What kind of bet?

Bonemeal is basic (not caustic) and a source of calcium. I guess enough of it could kill a plant, but not burn roots. At least, I've never burned roots with it despite overapplication at first.

Hot amendments like blood meal, manure, etc. I have burned things with.

No damn given.

I was answering the question about the need to let the soil mix "cook". The two week wait is to let the bone meal break down.

You can grow good buds with that.

Yield is in the genetics........

It might not be caustic but an imbalance of anything will cause imbalances in other nutrients and micro nutrients......too much calcium will do what?............get my meaning?

It is not always that straight forward with things like this.

Question for burnone?

Question for burnone?

Burnone, first i want to say great job on the info here it's exactly what a newcomer like me needed!:jump:

Okay now for my question, I am a newbie to organic growing and i've come up with a recipe using LC's #2 mix for the base and a revision of your guano tea recipe i would like you to please let me know if i am doing something wrong.
_____________________________________________________

Revised guano tea: @ 2.5 gallons/H20 as I am using only two 7.5 gal pots for the plants.

Seedling tea:

1/2 cup - ewc
2 1/2 tbsp - molasses

-Every 3rd watering.

Veg tea:

4 tbsp - "Super Tea" dry guano mix
2 1/2 tbsp - Blackstrap molasses

-Every 3rd watering.

Late veg/early bloom tea (only one or two feedings?):

6 tbsp - 50-50 mix of Budswel and Super tea guanos........? (i've heard it works great)
2 tbsp - Maxicrop kelp/seaweed extract (speed up blooming)
2 1/2 tbsp - Blackstrap molasses

Full bloom tea:

8-10 tbsp - Budswel dry guano mix
2 1/2 tbsp - Blackstrap molasses

With every watering.

Please tell me what you think!

Also, would i be wise to add liquid karma and seaweed extract to my recipe the whole time even though i plan on using molasses throughout as a source of Potassium?

2 1/2 tbsp - molasses
lower this to Teaspoons as advised by Dr. Elaine Ingham of the Soil Food Web Inc.

Late veg/early bloom tea (only one or two feedings?):

depends on how the soil carries the plants needs. On how much ad when you feed the soil.

6 tbsp - 50-50 mix of Budswel and Super tea guanos........? (i've heard it works great)
2 tbsp - Maxicrop kelp/seaweed extract (speed up blooming)
2 1/2 tbsp - Blackstrap molasses

Full bloom tea:

8-10 tbsp - Budswel dry guano mix
2 1/2 tbsp - Blackstrap molasses

I would lower the TBS of guano. For 2.5 gallons of water that is a little much. I would only use 1 to 2 TBS per gallon of water.

Or if you leave it at that amount then I would dilute the mix to 1\4 strength and work your way up.

Also, would i be wise to add liquid karma and seaweed extract to my recipe the whole time even though i plan on using molasses throughout as a source of Potassium?

That will do you just fine.

Agreed.

But I think when we say burn we mean hot amendments. I'm not sure what excess calcium and phosphorous will do to a plant. Burning I've done plenty of times.

I should stress that my own pics are of plants in lc mix with just little tweaks. Burn one stresses following the directions, and I can testify it is a good way to go.

Ya, burn would be the wrong word.

too much phosphate will tie up zinc, too much potassium ties up copper, and too much of any one of the various liming materials will tie up at least a portion of just about all the elements we can measure with a soil test, with phosphate usually being the exception.

So, like ole Burnone says........2 TBS lime!! No more No less!

Follow the recipe!

:yeahthats

I used 1 Tbs/gallon and saw nitrogen toxicity.Backed off to Dr.Ingham's teaspoon, and problem went away.

I have used it @ TBS for years. Ans sometimes more, forgetting the Golden Rule......less is better.
