I am starting a grow soon. I will do 12/12 from seed. I have two 125w 2700k light bulbs. It's all going in a computer case.
Most treads I see where people grow with cfl they use a mix of 6500k and 2700k.
Will this be a problem for me?
Also, I am aiming for 30g. It's my first grow. Am I too ambitious?

250w of CFL inside a PC case is probably going to cause you some issues. Unless you're using a really BIG computer case, the two lights alone are going to take up an awful lot of your space.

The first run through of my cab I used 100% 2700k bulbs for both veg and flower because I had trouble locating the 6500k bulbs in a 42w variety. I harvested 3.5 oz or so that first run.

If you've got a way to set up a SCRoG screen in the case, you may be able to get 30g.

On plants that average about 16" from bottom of pot to top of plant, my average is about 6-7 g per plantlet (so far) in a Perp-SOG setup.

How much vertical space will you have once your lights are in there? How are you planning to control temps?

The lights go side by side and are a little over 2,5" high, so they don't take up very much space.
The exhaust fan(s?) will be the only measure to control temperature.
But this is really a practical matter that I will deal with when I get further in this project. I have not started working on the case yet.

Well, with 19" to work with, you should have enough room to get something.

How big is your PC case? 19" from floor to lights... how wide? how long?

I use pots that are about 6" tall and 2.5"x2.5". These are capable of producing maybe 6-8g per plant at the height you're talking (13" from soil to tip). I can fit 36 of them in a 17"x17" space. If you can fit 5 of them in your case, you should be able to get your 30g.

Of course, your space will be a LOT brighter than mine, since you'll have nearly the same wattage in a significantly smaller space. Maybe your plants will be able to take advantage of that light and you'll get better than 6-8g per plant.

Hey guys, i'm completely new to growing and planning to start in april so i'm feeling my way so be gentle.

I plan to use a 4'x4' grow space but would have heat venting issues using a HPS. I've looked at LED but they haven't convinced me they would achieve what i'm looking for.

I plan a SOG method using 4 250w Envirogrow 8u CLF (both cool and warm for veg/flower) with a Powerplant Sun Mate reflector.

Is this too much/little light for the area? would heat be an issue? (i plan to extract using fan and filter) would i need to mix blue/red light during flowering or even add a UV CLF?

Thanks for your patience all help/laughter appreciated.

The case is 21" long, 8" wide and 25.5" high measured outside. I don't have the case yet to measure inside. I hope it will arrive this week.

I am starting to consider perpetual sog, but my main plan was growing one plant 12/12 from seed.
I wanted to make a nft grow at first but I think it will be too high maintenance and also too difficult for me since it is my very first grow.

I'm 2 to 3 weeks into a new grow in my pc cases. I'm still using the small tower case that I've shown in this thread before. I just remodeled my mid tower case with a 120mm and a 90mm exhaust fans, and a 60mm for intake. I have three power strips put in, up, across, and down the back side panel, one is actually a pc surge protector strip that everything else in the case is powered from. I have three 26w/100w CFL's for light running at 12/12. Because I have so many outlets in the case I can move the lights to the height I need without having to stack books, CD's, or DVD's to get my new plants up to the light. Instead I can bring the light down to them. So far it's working good. I'll post some pictures of the case later, as soon as I can get them. But I have some of my own F1's and some good bag seed started, some are a week to 2 weeks ahead of the others.

Most of it is hash plant. I reveg and clone it. It stays short and I get about 6-8g a plant from a soda bottle. I get about 10-14g in a bigger 4" pot with some some topping. I mix in autos for variety. I have Diesel ryder, road runner and a DR/RR cross.

I've read Dr Bud's threads and I can imagine, but I'd like to know your improvements if you want to reveal them, hahaha.

I haven't improved the DR's method. I am the grasshopper. I ph balance everything I put into my soil to 5.1-6.1 every time. My plants seem to like this.

I run 504w Flower CFL , and 104w Veg CFL.... currently only 6 plants in flower, over a dozen in Veg, throwing 5 more into the flower cab next week.. followed by a few more a week later... things are picking up.
