Citizens are welcome in the Oathkeepers, though they are given a Citizen-membership, not the full membership offered to current and former Law enforcement/military. Membership is not important, however.

The ideals are important.

I did. Many times repeated it too. It becomes a matter of personal honor. I'd do it again too, in a heartbeat, even after I got disabled. Even knowing I was going to. But I ain't talking about that club or some posers who might just say it. I'm talking about reality.

I left, personally. I see where our military is going and I'm not sure I want to be a part of it.

Plus I joined right when I turned 18, one of those hasty need-direction-in-life sort of things.

I always fantasize about going back and doing it right, but I doubt it.

You don't brother. America's armed forces have been the puppets of bankers and politicians for too long. They have stolen the minds of our younger generations by sending them to fight in wars so they could collect fat paychecks under the disguise of spreading freedom. A tragic joke indeed.

It is a necessary force, but one that has been turned into an oppressive force around the world lining the pockets of the bankers that the military industrial complex gets it's loans from.

Make war, make money, and kill your children while they are at it.

I made it through training and to my unit, but it just wasn't for me.

The racism they indoctrinate you with in training is just ridiculous. At one point or another in training these days, everyone gets to dress up like a "terrorist" and play op-for. (Oppositional forces)

You'd be amazed at how effective it is.

I spent 10 years in the Army, I have served in S.E.Asia,Europe, and all over the States including Alaska and Hawaii. The Oath Keepers sound like the start of another fringe group. I wonder how many of them were in combat arms or were they remf's. I was a Crew Cheif door gunner the first time and in the Field Artillery the second. I loved the military and woukld have made 20 or more but my back was injuried in The desert Ft Irwin, fighting the opfor. what a greta time. Just so you know I was 40 when I got out disabled 100% total and permanent is how they put it and proud of it. I defended and served the constitution, i don't need a group to tell me how to do it.:smoweed:
Smoke dope its the only hope for the world situation!

Just wait until you have that "Eureka" moment and realize you've been fighting for the wrong side...

Hopefully, by then, it won't be too late.

for years now they have been asking active-duty personnel if they would "obey orders not consistant with the constitution" IE function as a police force INSIDE the US. STRICTLY against the Constitution. active personnel have ALWAYS had the option of refusing what they consider an "unlawful order". as the Pentagon spokesman said last night though "you had better be right, because you WILL be courtmartialed".

the problem is that everyone has *their* idea on what the words of the constitution means, just like religious texts. guess that's why they set up an independent judiciary, with a supreme court to decide on constitutional questions.

freedom of association, no probs. 2nd class membership for "civilians", count me out on principle. military not answering to civilian control, that's prussia, imperial japan.

I'm confused, could you explain this for us?

American military presence around the world is terrorism, we're the bad guys. Course that doesn't mean shit to us over in the states, as our media is filtered to (somehow) play us as the victems who are at the same time the occupying force. Doesn't really bother me either to be honest.... When in Rome....

If you're actually interested in learning the perspective of uhh the rest of the world concerning US foreign policy read Killing Hope by William Blum.

I never advocated any wars, so I'm still confused by his post...

I think if anyone understands the underlying wrongs of our occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan it would be Oath keepers.

Actually... a number of the reasons we're in dire straights now... are direct changes to the constitution that have thrown off the checks and balances in the system.

FDR (for one) gave powers to congress over intra-state trade in the 30's.... congress has gone WAY out of control with power since then. (they have no checks to balance out their extended powers)

Articles 9 and 10 explicitly state that all powers not granted to the federal govt by the federal const.... were to be controlled by the people and the states. The Federal govt. has absolutely NO right to be in your house... telling you what you can do. That's the business of your state and the people.

Educate yourself.... (check my sig) then educate your neighbor!

Stay Safe! :tree:

Well it would seem you're supportive of the US military, if this ain't the case then I'm a bit confused as well.... Kinda buzzed, think it's time for me to hit the hay.

Here's a group that has been unnecessarily demonized in the media as of late...

So who here has taken an Oath to the Constitution? Who plans to keep that Oath, come hell or high-water?

Oathkeeper_3percent_iraq.jpg

Anyone who has a problem with what this group is advocating, IMO, is an enemy to our country.

its fucking insane and a measure that the government is DEFINATELY trying to impose martial law if they are bashing on oathkeepers. the OK are the most respected people in the military, many men wear the patch, it basically says they will NEVER fire upon US Citizens if they are ordered too, even high rankers got it.

now as far as police go, they seem to love shooting civilians so i bet most of them are not oathkeepers and truely renegade agents of the state.

our government cuold be such a good thing too bad its so evil and corrupt and unfixible, the founding fathers would be turning in their graves...

come on guy...its not all about oil and blood money in afghanistan (iraq more so)

the afghans desperately need US assitance to keep the taliban from imposing their militant rule. believe it or not, but i have seen the videos myself and talk to alot of guys on the gunforums who have served over there, many afghans want freedom and democracy and view the taliban as local thugs and warlords. The taliban repeadedly uses force to try and intimidate and disrupt local village economies, the US comes in and kicks them all out. Also, alot of patrols in Afghanistan now are only a few US soldiers and mostly ANA so its not just a bunch of white boys tromping into villages and shit, they got a strict ROE out there...

The military has answered to the President/Commander in Chief for the last 60 years. He is not a civilian. He is a sworn military officer. It's called Imperial America.

It's going to bother you when Rome starts to burn.

the afghans desperately need US assitance to keep the taliban from imposing their militant rule.

I warn you that is Progressive and UNConstitutional thinking. Our military shouldn't be over there in the first place. It's not our place to spread freedom around the world. That's a lie anyway. We aren't spreading freedom we are expanding our banks accounts because America is a warfare nation now and has been for a while in order to serve the Military Industrial Complex and the Fed's Bankers.

Once you break from isolationism you can write yourself off as being an academic progressive.
