Automatic Hindu Kush

Seedling

The smell is skunk with a touch of sweet rotting flesh of a dead mouse and the slightest hint of 2 day old barnyard manurer. It's the smell you wished your other pot had.

Thats a bit odd... dont know what you other people say but I dont want my pot to smell like dead mouse, manure and rotting flesh..
:dunno:

you'l find the rotten fleshy, death smell is rather nice, as it goes seedling, its the old skool roadkill smell thats, still lingering around in the mix of some strains.

Here's an interesting observation. Ever since I got my blue 90 watt ufo led light I've noticed the same thing.

All the plants I've grown under it have looked the same even the aurora indica. The plants seem to grow well but all the leaves seem to be moving away from the light. It's very subtle so it took a while to realize what was going on. They grow out horizontally and the tips seem to point downwards away from the light. It's as if they are saying the light is too strong. The leaves are solid and thick so it's not droop, they just point that way. So yesterday when I repotted the two oldest ones into the taller pots I decided to raise the light to accomodate them. I raised the light a couple of inches. This was a bit extra because I planted the plants low in the pots. The next thing I noticed was that the largest plant was starting to point it's leaves upward towards the light. I thought it might be the repotting. As time went by all the seedlings ended up pointing their leaves upward into the light, even the ones that weren't repotted and are in exactly the same place and conditions as before. Just the light is raised 2". At this point it's now 24 " or so above the tops of the seedlings.

So all I can conclude is the blue ufo light is very strong. I doesn't help the growth to have the light too strong.

Sorry about the photos but I can't figure out what to do. My bin is almost full and I only have room for a couple more photos.

What do I do when my bin is full? I have lots of photos to post but the ICG system has me on a limit. I've searched the whole site for info about posting and can't seem to find anything about it.

In the meantime I did take some more photos this morning on day 21 to show the progress and the new pots. I could post lots of photos if I had more space on the web site.

nice plants so far!

about the photos I think you have to get your post above 50 that way you can use PMs and stuff, should increase your PIC level.

Good old Schultz fert, stuff works but not well. The taste of the buds when finished with Schultz is not the best. Im starting a new Organic test gro you might be interested in. Look for the Earth Juice Test Grow.

So I have to blab more??? Okay, you guys will be sorry. I can go on, and on, and on, and on..........

Of course I've read your threads IceColdCrickets and enjoyed them very much. I have a semi-organic system and will switch to organic once I repot.

The soil I use sometimes contains damping off disease. So I sterilize the soil in the microwave before planting my seeds. Because it's sterile I use the chemicals. When I transplant the plants are into organic. By that time they are strong enough to overcome the damping off disease. I use 50% recycled soil to seed the bacteria, blood meal, fruit bat guano and kelp meal. So the oldest plants are now transplanted into organic mode and will have about 6 more weeks to get rid of the Schultz's.

And of course I am now searching for the Earth Juice.

This is a photo I took yesterday on day 21 for the back row, day 14 for the middle row, day 7 for the front row, and day 1 for the tiny seedling. There's one more seed starting up on the left in the bigger pot under tin foil which is up above the soil today. Surprisingly enough that makes 7/7 germinated nicely and considering that I thought that the seeds were crappy when I looked at them in the beginning, I'm very happy. I still have 2 more seeds to germ on the weekend but so far so good. The method is sound and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I just soak them in a cup of water for a day or two at 77f degrees until I have a nice little root about 3/32" coming out and then plant them into the dirt.

The two oldest plants at the back are now in the 6" square pots and seem to have kept on growing nicely even after the transplanting. The smaller one seems to be growing all right even though it's very tiny. It's made a new set of leaves since transplant. Look at the plant in the middle on the right. It's growing so fast and the leaves are much larger than even the largest one at the back. I'm hoping it's a male and it just has that look to it. I actually need a male to flower in the next two or three weeks to get my females pollinated at 5 weeks in time to make seeds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything's going to go all right with the seed making but so far so good.

It makes no sense that these seeds have a bad rep. A couple of people had trouble at the beginning and then nobody wanted to try them. I think they're great.

It's hard to tell exactly how tall the plants are because I burried them deep into the soil with the bottom leaves almost touching the soil. I would have to say that the tall one would be about 5" before repotting but now it's about 4". Don't forget I'm now expecting them to spend a lot of energy building roots since they have freedom in the soil. The small one may never amount to much but since the seed was only as big as the head of a pin I'm not expecting a lot. I gave up on it before I started. However who is to say that the smallest one has to be weak. It might hold the genes for the most thc of all.

The two newest seeds which are normal size seem not to be affected by damping off so that's king of good. When I was starting seeds to try out my ufo light I lost two beautiful Burmese Pure seeds to damping off. The cotyldons just shrivelled up and turned black on day 2.

Once I get my seeds and start making crosses I'll definitely try to make Automatic Burmese Kush.

She's starting to bud out now on day 24.5. This is the smallest plant on the back left. It was the smallest tiny seed and the plant is small but very fast. She seems a week ahead of the larger plant but started off 2 days later. It seems very happy now and is starting to flower nicely on all the tiny branches down below. It seems right down to the first internode. The red LED spot is shining in sideways and hits on the branches below. The plant has lenghthened her internodes a bit so the light gets in nicely. It's about 4.5" now and I burried it up to the leaves. It may never amount to much but it still has 7 more weeks to go and it is fast.

I turned all the lights off except the red LED 60 watt 30 degree parasol spot. I thought it was a bargain at $5.99usd from Hong Kong on ebay. I didn't realize it was 220 volts but I ordered a converter for $20.00 and it was still a bargain. It's shining into the plants sideways and will accomodate about another foot above the plants so as they grow they will rise up into it. You don't see it at all when the blue led is on but it lights up the whole closet enough to take a photo of the equipment above it. It was shining onto the plants in the above blue photo but you can't see it. When I repot the middle row in the morning they'll be more into the light than now and I'll rise up the bottom one to get more light. It's good I made this photo because I've spotted an improvement.

like grass left to rot in the summersun...

ive got a girl like that, oldschool indica w french name. Stef Blanche', meaning "white pole".. album here; http://www.icmag.com/ic/album.php?albumid=13622

The two largest plants are now on day 24.5. The largest one is just starting to show a few flowers into the crown. It seems much stronger than the little one and I have high hopes for it. Neither one seemed to mind the transplanting at all.

This is the center of the largest plant. You can see it's just beginning to put out a few hairs in the center. It has some down below on the internodes which started last week but it didn't produce like the small one.

You can see the smallest plant really is working down below.

I had just the faintest whif of odour when I came home from work today and poked my head into the closet. It didn't even come out of the closet and it was partly open all day. Later on when I went upstairs to take the photos, I couldn't smell anything. Faint, very faint. My experience is it's usually the males that smell first, so possibly, just possibly there's a boyfriend. Time will tell.

Here's the whole bunch of Automatic Hindu Kush now. Considering that the seeds didn't look good to me at all, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Notice the thermometer right on at 80f degrees.

I'm a bit disappointed that the Purple Jems didn't get here this week. They're in the country now but it was a holiday Monday so there's a bit of a backlog in the mail I guess. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm kind of dreaming about an Automatic Purple Kush. It sure would be an easy thing to do.
