Chimney,
Yes this is disgusting...but what's your take? Why is this related to the war on drugs?

"They made money by taking kids guilty of minor crimes – setting up an online satire of an assistant principal, stealing a $4 bottle of nutmeg, getting into a fight with another kid –and putting them into these juvenile prisons."

The article doesn't even mention drugs unless I missed it.

Hi Chimney,
Hey, I didn't say it was irrelevant, especially when looking at it from a broader sociological perspective. It's horrifying. Just curious why you were ranting so much about the War on Drugs. Those asshole judges would have done what they they were doing...drugs or not. They were bad people. And even if we didn't have a War on Drugs, drugs would not be legal for children...leaving the judges to do what they did, war or no war. See my point?

The War on Drugs is a terrible misuse of the justice system (for the most part)...but in all fairness, that event wasn't a product of the War on Drugs. IMO

That is the exact reason they keep the drug laws the way they are now!

Privatized jails is nothing but "ECONOMIC BASED SLAVERY" No other way to say it!

If you've seen Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A love story", this case is in there. I don't see what it has to do with capitalism though, has more to do with corruption. Still disgusting.

It's to bad these judges were not growing a little med on the side - then they would be looking at doing some serious time!

Yup - corruption and bribery, sending kids "down the river" for profit...

At least they didn't really hurt society by growin' some weed...

I think those judges should be placed in a large, locked room w/ all those kids they screwed over - and left in there for 1 day...

Then sent to the big house for their big brothers to play with...

Those judges won't get the "hard time" they imposed on nearly innocent kids.

Rat bastards :moon: :moon: :moon: ...

What's the difference (in principle) between this story and the DEA/prison industrial complex incarcerating millions of MJ offenders?

It's funny, in this case they were convicted yet the DEA/politicians do this (the drug "WAR") on a daily basis and not ONE DEA/politician has ever been convicted for incarcerating a MJ user because it's "legal".

This story is sad but the larger story of the DEA/congress/industrial prison complex is MUCH sadder.

You're right. I stand corrected, I confused it with the movie that I mentioned. The movie I referenced though is a good watch, check it out.

yea man never trusted judges at all, even though ive generally had good luck with them but thats because i always try and look as square and cleancut as possible for court. the female judges and lawyers treat me the best haha i always get my fines lowered. i had one old cranky white judge who looks like the guy in the article, dude was a prick and threw the book at me for suspended license.

its funny one of my best custies and my brother big time smoke buddy, his mom is a judge in SF. they are LOADED, this kid buys a half-o to oz every week to smoke on for himself..hes only 22 but about to inherit a 5 million dollar mansion in pacific heights because his mom is moving to hawaii for retirement. talk about lucky!! damn glad i know him haha...

12-year-old American arrested for doodling on desk

Alexa Gonzales, a seventh grader at the Junior High School in Forest Hills, had written the words "I love my friends Abby and Faith. Lex was here 2/1/10 " on the classroom desk with a green marker when the school principal decided to have her arrested by the New York Police.

Consequently, Alexa's hands were cuffed behind her back while she was escorted from school to the police precinct across the street in front of her teachers and her classmates.

"They put the handcuffs on me, and I couldn't believe it," Alexa told CNN. "I didn't want them to see me being handcuffed, thinking I'm a bad person."
