Vaporizers?

Just a quick question for those using the balloon system on the Volcano or Extreme vaporizer. When you fill up one of the bags with vaporized herb, how long will it remain viable? I assume the vapor will eventually condense and stick to the inside of the bag. Are we talking minutes, hours?

Silly question I guess. I ask because my wife is the slowest smoker in the world and I can just see her trying to nurse a single bag all night. LOL

Actually, the whole "sucking on a bag to get high" thing seems a little silly but what the heck. Wonder if they use them in the Amsterdam smoking cafe's.

Obviously I'm a clueless newbe.

One time I filled a second bag before I realized I was already stoned enough to fall asleep (I use mj for insomnia). So, I put my bag down on my dresser. The next morning the bag was deflated and VERY sticky. I usually take ten or twenty minutes to finish a bag if the vapor is thick. I have probably taken more than thirty minutes many times over the years and I haven never noticed any problem. So, the problem happens sometime after 30 minutes, but before 8 hours. Does that help?

Yes and I wonder if that condensed resin can be cleaned/used or do you just replace the bag.

My Extreme vaporizer should be arriving today so hopefully I'll be figuring this out for myself. Thanks

I know that some people use isopropyl alcohol to clean their vaporizers and then they end up with very clean hot air extracted iso honey oil once the alcohol evaporates. Personally, I don't bother. I just buy another bag. I brought one bag to the family x-mas dinner so the hostess could cook a turkey in it. Some of the THC must have gotten into the turkey, but it wasn't enough to get us stoned.

hey about that extreme vaporizer , do you have the possibility to fill that tower thingy with water so that you get a cheap verdamper version??

You can attach a water chamber to any vaporizer... but you can't put water in the E tower. Not if you want it to work.

So now I have a problem -my Vapir died yesterday. It´s been working well but yesterday it "crackled and popped" and stopped heating the air. The fan still works and I´ll have a friend look at it so maybe it can be saved.

But I doubt it.

I´ve been using my Vapir once or twice daily since I bought it about six months ago and never a glitch. If I was dumb enough I´d send it back as it´s still on guarantee but after "phytotherapy" forget it.

So should I get a new Vapir and hope the next one is better or dig into my pocket and buy a volcano that costs mucho? I can´t find the SSV in Europe and I haven´t heard much on other vapes.

I need one that isn´t too obvious, it can´t look like a bong or anything as certain people in my fam don´t need to know what I´m up to.

Extreme Vaporizer by Arizer. Read the last couple of pages of the thread.

It has a separate diffusion bowl and I think it's actually advertised/sold as a room deodorizer. Comes with your choice of flower, mine was black cherry. I'll actually give it a try and let you know what I think =)

It doesn't look like a pot-smoking accessory at all. If anybody knows what it really is, they're likely a toker or a cop.

Your visitors would probably be curious why you have such an expensive looking room deodorizer though, lol.

hey i picked up one of these a little while back and it works pretty awesome. the fan is a little slow. it doesn't fill up bags as fast as the volcano but i think the quality of the smoke is way better. i run mine usually at 215c, i think the temp thing is off though because i used to run may vapir at 375f unless the vapir was off

Woah....even at F, 215 is way hot :p

You can turn it waaaaaaaaaay down, at least if you are using higher grade weed.

I find 160-165 about right with elbow packs in the whip, and maybe even lower.

With bags, I start the first one at 155, and finish around 175-180 on the last bag.

Give it a shot, just let the weed heat up for 10 mins or so in the bowl before you fill the first bag.

You won't get that thick vapor you see at the higher temps, it should be just lightly hazy. That's the good shit.

Give it a shot!

I do agree, the fan is DRASTICALLY slower than the volcano, but I think the vapor is superior as well.

i dunno man that seems really really low. i don't get really thick vapor at 215 like when you run other vapes hot. if i put it up to 220 i can tell the flavor decreases greatly but i like 215. anything lower and i really don't get any vapor. well i do but not to my liking. i've been puffin on some really tasty stuff too. i dunno lol maybe mine is just off a little but i like the flavor i get from running it at 210-215. i couldn't even see running it at 180. even at 215 i get 5-7 bags from a pack before the herb looks done

Ok sorry if this seems out of the blue, but I just found this site http://www.build-your-own-vaporizer.com/vaporizerparts.html
and I tested it out and it works freaking awesome. And it can be done for $30 or less depending on what you alredy have. Personally all I had was the sodering unit and it still cost less than $28 to go to Home Depot and get the rest (including drill bits). Now can anyone figure out how to get an accurate temp gauge on this thing? Is so with a dimmer switch we are talking a complete setup that rivals most anything you can buy for far less money.

I have heard some people prefer the whip style vaporizer over the balloon style. I use a Volcano, not a whip. So, can any whippers explain what a whip is and why you prefer it? Thanks.

Many convection vaporizers use a tube (called a "whip") through which the user inhales the vapors.

this is according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporizer

So not that I have used one but it appears to be the inhaler piece equivelant to the mouth of a pipe. If it is then I have seen them, and they look like a small glass tube similar to what you blow in when given the breathalizer test...

Over the years I have tried various vaporizers that rely on the my lungs to power the air movement. My inhalation draws air over the heating element, warming it up, and then through the ground herb. The problem was that you have to learn exactly how fast to draw in the air because the speed determines how hot it gets. Is that how most of the whip style vapes work? Or, do they rely on some sort of forced air like the V-rip to control the temp?

Looks like the Vapir I have (had) was a version 4 -is the difference to the version 5 big?

Yeah, the "whip" in "whip-style" refers to the plastic tubing that allows you to inhale directly, rather than through the balloon.

I'm not sure about other models, but the Extreme allows you to draw directly, or allow the fan to run at one of three speeds, which helps propel, so you don't have to suck as hard.

But yes, I think that the speed you draw at, regardless, needs to be regulated by the user for optimum effect.

edit: medicated like a mooooooootha.....as to why I prefer it, well, I still like doing bags too, but here's what I like about doing the whips in the Extreme

Tastes really really good on the first couple of hits, really brings out the flavor
Quick, bags fill really slow in this model, elbow hits are immediately hittable
Always available, I can pack the elbow, take a few hits, walk away, come back whenever, five minutes or 6 hours later and take a hit
Quiet, the fan is pretty loud, especially on high setting. Completely silent if you do it without fan assistance.
