and SINCE those delivery drivers get low pay like other shitty jobs, they rely on the WILLING generosity of the public, it isnt mandatory, but it's damn well accepted. What if all the delivery drivers disappeared? WHO would bring your food? hypothetically you whom is reading this sentence is one to order food...

i duno where you live classy, must be guelph, but jesus nuke the population so you can personally teach the new boomers proper life skills, mannerisms and etiquette. Sounds brutal, and i thought the service around THESE parts was bad. that sounds awful...god in a kiosk, lmfao.

i personally cant afford it, or the tip id be willing to pay if i were to order food...lol:witch:

lots of people tip garbage men, mailmen, and the paperboy etc. i used to deliver papers and christmas time was tip time...id hazard a guess it's more a small town thing, nay a bustling metropolitan city.

Don't knock Guelph - best titty bar in the land there - The Manor...

All those young coeds peelin' for tuition $$$.

I can always tell the students - not a ripple on 'em, can barely walk on high heels, and smell like sweet young things...

Them I tip. Big time...

Tips are appreciated and helpful to those in the food delivery business. Their employers cannot pay them alot since most of these joints have too much competition and need to keep their food prices low. Its not mandatory, but neither is good, speedy service. The agreement is I will bring the food to you, takes too long? Too fucking bad, why should I care if you don't care about my compensation? Delivery person may refuse to deliver to certain customers. There is no law stating the service is mandatory.

I feel for ya loudthoughts. I once was also in your same shoes. There wasn't any part time jobs available besides in the food industry when I was going to college. I didn't sign up to be a delivery person, but I still found myself doing it from time to time. Best thing to do is keep your chin up and keep an eye out for a better job. Take the good with the bad and don't let it get you down too much. Thats all I have to say about this anymore. LOL obviously you brought forth some bad memories doing that job, but atleast you aren't stuck in some back breaking job that leaves you hurting and just as poor.

Well where i'm from tipping is not a tradition like it's in the west. It's becoming more popular now but it's fairly new.

Honestly..

I don't get it!?

WTF is your employer paying you for ? I thought it was for delivering food ? ''Tips'' should be included in the price.. food+delivery i paid for both. Tipping is for good service ? I expect nothing less! If the service is horrible if anything i want my damn money back!

Tipping to me sounds like employers trying to scam their employees out of a buck by rolling the ''responsibility'' to the customer..

I usually don't tip...Because by that logic i should be tipping everyone with whom i make a transaction with. If you do what is expected of you it should be reflected in your salary..

Delivery people, waitstaff, bartenders, etc are all tip jobs. I tip these people because if they provide good service, it's a gratuity. I guess you just feel like people are supposed to do things for you.

They are supposed to do it for their customers - I've already said I can't afford most of those "services".

I've got no $$$ - can't afford to engage their services for the most part, and I'm sorry again, but driving a freakin' car for $5 an hr. beats the shit outta doin' nuthin for zero $$$.

I've worked for over 30 years - hard work sometimes, easy work others.

I can count the number of tips on one hand - and I always treated customers like they were the only reason I was there.

Know why - because customers are the reason service companies are there.

Not the other way around.

You cannot tip civil servants or doctors. It is illegal. But if I could or it was the way of the land, I would. Delivery people, waitstaff, bartenders, etc are all tip jobs. I tip these people because if they provide good service, it's a gratuity. I guess you just feel like people are supposed to do things for you.

People are supposed to do the things in their work contract! That's what they get paid for. In the service industry you are expected to provide quality service. A smile and a small ass kissing included!

I worked some service jobs as a kid and I see both sides. If the service is good by all means let them know it.$$$.If the service and attitude suck I wont give them much.Service people do rely on tips to balance the shit wage.Reward the good ones dont tip the bad ones.

You cheapskates better PRAY that there's no such thing as karma.

There is no such thing as karma..rest easy..

And another thing...

Tipping just generally brings down the quality of the service. It makes the costumer deal with your staff issues. Man..my belly is full, i'm feeling good. Now i have to check in my damn wallet to see if i have any cash on me. Calculate how much tip is should leave and etc. That's all extra shit i have to deal with and it brings the whole experience down.

There is - and she is a very kind and loving karma.

My karma got me an unsolicited 2 oz. donation of killer weed from a person I've never met - just because...

I give, and give, and give - and get back more than I give...

Karma isn't overtipping, or tipping at all.

It's being a decent human being, and treating others with respect and courtesy.

It's working hard - even when no-one is looking.

It's doing, and NOT expecting in return.

Hold a door, say thanks, pat someone on the back. Encourage when needed, kick an ass when that's needed too...

You will be repaid more than you can imagine...

That's karma...

Not tipping...

If you buy delivery like that you can't really use the recession as an excuse...tipping's just the way it is...20% minimum unless there's something wrong they do.

It will be your problem when the majority of the places go out of business and all you have left is corporate run shitholes that send you cardboard they call pizza. Simply put the best pizza comes from the local, family run joints and they cannot compete with the big corporate pizza places that can undercut all their prices. The only way they can compete is if they too can keep their prices low and that means paying their employees less. Corporate owned franchises can afford to lose money and they plan to do so to kill the competition. When its gone, your prices go up.

exactly... pfff some people. You could just get your lazy ass off the couch, drive in yourself and pick it up without worrying about tipping for delivery.

However, I've always thought that tips should just be calculated into the food prices and customers shouldn't have to worry about giving cash to the drivers. However, too many greedy ass employers would just steal the tips for themselves. This is why I got out of the food industry after a year. Its all bullshit and people think the service should be grade A above and beyond, but want to be a cheap fucker and get everything for damn near free.

Your thinking about yourself.
Employer is thinking about his/her business and themselves.

If the delivery person starts thinking about themselves... god forbid!

If you're just not tipping because it's lazy / can't figure it out, it's real easy.

Here's how to figure out about 11% easily. All you have to be able to do is add.
Say the bill is 37.53.
Round that to 37, easier to work with.
10% is 3.7. Round it to 4, easier to work with.
Give your driver $41. You didn't really have to think and they can afford to eat. Everyone is happy.

I don't eat junk food..Pizza is shit no matter what source it comes from. I'm talking about restaurants and such. Excuse me ? Im not sure how it is in the states but here when i order something there is the price of the item and the price of delivery. When i pay for delivery..i expect the fucking item to be delivered! Or there will be trouble! And the service should be and has to be top notch or you just lost a customer.

If the ''mon & pop'' operations can't handle then charge more. People will pay more for better quality. I however will not pay more for something that goes without saying and is just common business practice..

My point is that i should not have to think about this at all..

The service should be made as comfortable to me as possible or else it's not good service.
