had some problems with thieves but then i invested in an ancient dog used as shep guarding and military dog in most of the east countries
they can be gentle bears but if they feel the property or their owner threatened its a 180 pund pure and aggressive guardian

3 times as big at a pitbull and at least 3 times as strong and the watchfulness is in the genetics
in Russia and other countries they they guard the shep and kills wolfs that are unfortunate enough to try their luck

never had problems with thieves after i had him and if i do i save a feeding ;)

not my dog though

We have a Tibetan Mastiff puppy on the way. Ancient breed that can be traced back 2,500 years. Not the ideal dog for families with young children and/or other dogs.

Extremely fierce, loyal and obedient.

I wish I had a dog, but I won't get one until I'm in the position where it doesn't have to gaurd me.

Dang! My USB cable's been stolen!

We have a herd of mutts (in order by size): 1) Great Pyrenees female; 2) mastiff x lab cross, male; 3) Australian shepherd, male; and 4) Jack Russel terrier, female.

You guessed it - the JR is the MEANEST of the bunch. But the rest are so fucking big, nobody wants to get out of the car until we come out.

My only peoblem is keeping the yard clear of all the deer carcasses they keep dragging up... I'm thinking of opening a bone meal plant, sheesh!

actually the Tibetan mastiff is told to be among its ancestors
its a good dog with kids
as long as its your own kids!
it will guard them with their lives but if your kids bring him friends you better lock the dog up as it can mistake play as a treat to your own kid

i separated him fighting with one of my rottweilers over a left over bone and got bitten by mistake
its 2 weeks ago and the wound from the 2 teeth was very deep and its still healing
it was just a "friendly" snap at the other dog telling her i think it was his bone
if he was really made i sure dont want to be the one he is mad at

if i ever come home and find the remains of a pot thief that has climbed my fence again ill laugh my ass of and dumb his remains in the nearest dumpster with a smile
im really tired of thieves and in my book they deserve to die
they know the risk of their "work" and also that if they meet a dog at "work" they cant always hope to meet a puddle :)

I do not know wh@ Germans would call a German Sheperd...and despite being Australian...I do not know wh@ you mean by Australian Sheperd...could you post a pic?

Is it wh@we would call a Blue Heeler or Red Heeler?

Cookie monster

A friend of mine has 2 blue heelers, well one is the typical bluey colour and the other is the sandy dingo coloured type both of them would chew your legs off if they did'nt know you.

A blue heeler over here is what ye guys might call a cattle dog?

Part Rhodesian Ridgeback, part Lab...

She was foundling from Louisiana after the hurricane.

Smartest and strongest dog I've ever had. And could catch a fly outta the air - she is fast...

the best guardian and family dog around in my view ( had to register him as unknown race in my country though as he is on a list with 14 breeds that might get banned soon)

i paid quite some money for him and drove tru 2 countries and back ( 2 x 1200 kilometers) to pick him up but he is worth every euro i paid for him

he is one nice lazy bear to me and my property but he will wake up and explode within seconds if he feels theres any treat to me, my family or the property and to burglars he is pain and suffering

I have a Standard Poodle, they were the first water retreveir great bird dog, extremely smart, but a pain to maintain. The second is a female Great Dane, she's a blue one, will be 8 months Saturday, she'e 33 inches at the shoulder and weighs about 125 or so. When some one walks by the house they go off. Better than ADT

Here are my girls. 8 pound daschund and 80 pound pit female. The smaller one does all the barking and the big one does all the biting and then my .357 does all the shooting.

Boxers...good guard dogs and great family dogs.

i agree. my boxer wouldn't hurt a fly... frogs and squirels are something else. he is very territorial though and definately looks the part. i have friends who are scared of him... which is hilarious.
