Do people REALLY think growing marijuana is easy?

I kind of agree but think that it is somewhat dependent on where you live. Probably not that easy in CA.
True, it does depend on where you are.

Still waiting on someone to point out an easier gig so I can go do that. It's one thing to blather about how hard something is. It's another thing to ACTUALLY TELL ME what's easier. I hope someone does. I'll switch to that.

C'mon if it were really easy would there be as many posts on ICMag wondering how to fix (fill in the blank)?

So, tons of people wanting to know how to do something better, means it's hard? That's like me saying it's easy because there are tons of people here answering all those questions from noobs.

Again, HARD COMPARED TO WHAT? Yeah, tying your shoes is easy. Try making good money doing it.

I guess some people just don't want to admit what they do isn't eLiTe. Ego, lol. Getting .5 g/w is like falling off a log. That's 40k a year from 2 1ks in a spare bedroom, and you can spend most of your time watching TV and drinking beer. Grueling career, lol.

It's the illegality that makes it difficult. If it were legal to grow it would be 100x easier.

If it were legal to grow where I live I'd have my mothers indoors and just run one large outdoor crop, then all the work is in preparing the soil, no need for watering or feeding after if the soil is good as it rains plenty here. Picking the males out and keeping on top of any bugs (and those are rare here) is about all it takes until late September when you gotta start worrying about mould, then the next hard work comes with the harvest and trimming.

Compared to a lot of other things you could grow, weed grows itself and the rewards are so much higher. Then again, the high rewards are due to the illegality.

In any discussion of the problems of growing weed, the illegality is the major factor imho.

Well said wiseman....

for me it hasn't been easy, my many past failed attempts often came down to ignorance, lack of knowledge, had i researched more thoroughly ahead of time i feel i wouldn't have had so many issues

i finally have what looks like might be success, today i am at 4 weeks flowering, i have never gotten this far with it

for my mom, she would always say it was easy, she has done it off and on with stellar results since the 70s...however, when the weather got super crazy, the roof was blown off the greenhouse, and massive mold jacked the bulk of the crop, she wasn't feeling that it was so easy at that point in time

i'm very new to the world of growing, it appears to just be a mixed bag from my perspective

i do know what op is talking about, a cousin of mine was saying crazy things like that, "i have to move to california, we can make so much money out there!!!" she knows absolutely nothing about growing!! i'm not saying it is impossible for her, but i feel it would not be a wise decision for her to just get up and move her family out here to get into an industry that she has zero experience in as her sole source of income

I do grow little patches of strawberries that I make and mark on my GPS, that I go and visit from time to time.. Its just very cool to watch them slowly spread :)

haha that's awesome!

it'd be so cool to be tromping around on a hike, and stumble upon an out of control strawberry briar!

As an experienced group, we all understand (us growers) how much lighting we need, what strains to choose, what mediums to use, what growing systems suit us best, what our P.H should be, watering cycles, CO2, etc, etc, etc…. but now that marijuana has caught such mainstream attention with shows like “Marijuana Inc.” (which I happen to love) and cannabis laws changing everyday, I hear so many people talking about “I want to grow weed” that I think to myself “man, don’t they realize how hard this is?”

Go onto to Google and type in “how to grow marijuana” and you’ll see number 1 – 698,000 different links of “how to grow marijuana”. Everyone is trying to sell their books or DVD’s but they don’t want to tell you how if you plug your lights incorrectly into different sockets how you can burn your whole house down. How you can invest anywhere from $2,000 - $40,000 and completely fuck up your first harvest by not knowing what you’re doing and losing your ass in the process, or probably getting a beating from the guy who fronted you the money!

There is so much that goes into growing, but all people see are the $$$$. (I’m talking about the retards that know nothing about this and want to grow). Am I the only one that’s kind of urked' by this or have you felt the same way? I keep reading posts on different people wanting to move out to cannabis friendly states to grow but they don’t realize that true experience comes from trial and error. If you can afford it.

What do you guys think? Do people really think you just plant seeds, add some sunlight and PRESTO = you get money?

Definitly got your point here SCS
But things change fast and many of those people you re refering to generally give up quiet fast after one or even a few bad experiences.
Generally it is just because they do not ask themselves first if they re gonna like/love growing plants and that they do not know much about plant in general (even other ones than MJ)

.

.

This hobby can be difficult depending on your location and finances amigo.
Of course growing MJ isn t that hard but once again if you grow super skunk varieties or hazes it can be a little different.
Finally the end result can suit you and it might not suit me and it cannot be that easy otherwise no one would try to make new varieties wich are actually growing better indoor or best at avoiding mold issues on the outdoor etc etc ..

The way you say that it s like you al ready know everything about growing and you aren t surprised anymore. too bad for you amigo

Growing marijuana is easy as fuck... anyone can do it, however consistently growing top quality AAA+++ that's better than everyone elses.

That takes skill, alotta work and a tiny bit of luck.

In my opinion growing is relatively easy on a hobby scale, trying to increase efficiency/yields it gets tougher.

Growing on a commercial scale that is a whole different ballgame, going from the minors to big leagues. Learning to wire a huge op properly, dealing with ventilation and hooking air conditioners, framing walls and hanging drywall and plant nutrition. All these things can be learned over time, it just takes a dedicated mofo to keep going when yields aren't up to par.

All and all I would never give up growing I just love it way too much. At times I get the "grow time blues" when I just get over it, but it fades.

Nothing is more enjoyable than smoking a properly grown variety that has been cured for 2+ months. It always brings a smile to my face when my friends ask me to try this new bud they bought thinking its great that hasnt been flushed and is crap, because knowing that all the time and research put in hasnt been in vain. The quest to produce the best!

Can never underestimate the power of ppl. who need to succeed. lol . They probably won't grow as good as you , I assume your good but they will learn or not lol.peace out Headband707

All these people that want to jump in for all this "easy money" will get a rude awakening, and they will find out fast if they have the balls once they flip the switch. Of all those whom said it is easy, how many of you are getting 2+lbs per 1k of top notch?

Driving 100,000 lb trucks on small construction sites is easy... driving a 75 ft. truck and trailer on congested surface streets is easy... if you don't mind running over hoods of cars, fire hydrants, or knocking over power poles.

quite hard to do well even if it looks easy.

when someone is really good at something they make it look like they are doing nothing...

we're quibbling over definitions. and remember some here are talking out their ass and may have never grown weed
