Whooo Hooo! congratz man. http://www.icmag.com/ic/showpost.php?p=3127062&postcount=51

hey can you do a kinda break down on the measurements of the cab and how it's arranged plz? You said on the first page you had about 2' of usable height. Can you do me a favor and kinda break it down like: soil 6 inches, 4 inches between soil and screen, growth x inches...plzplz. I plan on setting up one of these 63w panels in 26" height...I think it will be ok..just wondering your opinion and your measurements after you mentioned light bleaching earlier.

yay i won one of the 205 watt units for my bigger cab! - huge thanks to all those who supported me on that. :huggg:

i was so happy i gave the MMG plant a celebratory 'feed' of blackstrap molasses :D - its the first time ive added anything other than water.

#1cheesebuds - thanks. it'll probably go around 10 weeks flower. i expect the buds to grow a little more too :)

unthing - yeah i think the slightly lightbleached one was pretty much in the middle. just a tiny bit though and the bud doesnt seem to be suffering. light bleach is generally pure white - lime green may be just the buds growing fast and the growth hasnt formed its chlorophyl yet.

mad librettist, thejointedone - thanks!

Mt Toaker - interesting link!

grow1620 - thanks mate. i think you'll like the units - ill try and measure up and get back to you on the hights - lights off atm ;)

nnep, MeanBean, b00m - thanks - im well chuffed about the new light :D

jonkanoo - the fans are virtually silent mate and they will definitely add to the circulation in the cab too - bonus!

cheers

New LEDs. . . that aren't really LEDs

Here is a quote from that site:

"Luxim's new bulb may only be the size of a Tic-Tac, but this little bugger can crank out way more light at 250 watts than a traditional 400 watt LED. It can achieve this feat thanks to gas that is heated inside the bulb via electrical energy delivered to it by a "puck." As the gas turns to plasma, the bulb is illuminated. However, since most of the energy is not lost to heat, the light can reach a high level of brightness. In fact, it can produce up to 140 lumens per watt which is twice that of an LED and around 10 times that of a standard bulb. Impressive. Hit the link to see the light in action. [CNET and Luxim]"

I'm very familiar with Sulfur Plasma, and looked into it back when I first began researching LED, but at 140 lumens per watt is that supposed to be impressive lol? I don't know where this company got their information from, but there are 1W white LED's emitting over 110 lumens per watt these days. Last I checked, Seoul Semiconductor had the brightest white LED in the world, and the difference is no where near double like they state. What I don't understand though, is why they would want to compare their plasma bulb to LED, when just about everyone still uses HID? A 1000W HPS puts out 145,000 lumens, so right there you're at 145 lumens per watt which is more than the sulfur plasma bulb. Am I missing something lol? Anyhow, those little bulbs are pretty darn cool, and the spectrum they emit is a lot more patterned towards plant growth than a HPS. I think if they would have done some serious development with SP bulbs 20 years ago, everyone would be using them instead of HPS right now. One major downside to them though, is that they tend to be VERY expensive. Last I talked with Luxim, I think they wanted $800-$1100 for their "kit" to use that bulb, but I could be mistaken.

And VG: Congrats on winning the 205W! You had a late entry and yet received more votes than anyone! You are very well liked around here ;)

I really wanna try LEDs soon..

hi all, everything is still looking good - ive made some real effort to get the temperatures up as they've been running at around 60-70 which wont be doing the growth rate any favors - i guess it may limit the yield a bit or it may take longer to ripen. we've had the coldest spell for some 30 years here in the UK.

grow1620 - i should have those measurements for you tomorrow

apollonio - thanks, im super excited

LEDGirl - yes, thanks for choosing me - i was shocked and touched by the amount of support i recieved :D

Sleepy - thanks mate :)

Relentless - yeah - come the summer thse lights are going to be a godsend as it gets vedry hot in my loft!

scumbragger - from this grow, given the low temps and first run in a new cab, i would be more than happy with anywhere near 1g/watt - but im going to avoid speculating on it if i can ;). from my 250 i pull around 10 ounces - well over 1g/watt on average.

high4free - thanks - hopefully i can put on a good show :)

The plant looks amazing, VG. Have you noticed anything that you would not have expected under any other light? Looking in the pics, all I see is a nice healthy plant.

Oh, and to anyone worried about it not vegging under the led. So what. Who vegges under their flower bulb? Not me. When I do my comparison run all my girls will have been vegged under floros just like I always do and I better not get any crap about that.

I can't wait to see your next one too VG.

right - managed to get the temps up to around 70-75 which is a bit better. buds are looking more like little colas now too :)

grow1620 - here are those measurements -

top of cab to bottom of light = 5.5" (light takes up around 2" of that)
bottom of light to screen = 13" (another inch or two here would be handy for stretchier strains like the MMG)
top of screen to top of pot = 5"
pot is 7.5" deep

that adds up to 31". the floor in my cab is raised and the fresh air comes up from underneath the floor and out through the top above the light fixture

mriko - thanks - its pretty amazing that im going to get some quality buds from under a light drawing only 63 watts!

daddy fingaz - cheers mate :D - ill try and fly the flag for us UK growers :witch:

hazy - thanks for stopping by :) - i think you'll enjoy the light. main differences for me have been lower running temps - LEDGirl says 80-85 is optimum under her lights and i have been running much lower and it may slow things down. you cant rely on the light to heat the space for you. the lower running temps will be very useful for most people and for me here in the summer.
i guess you may not have to worry 'bout that in the desert though?
other thing is that the leaves are a bit darker (although the MMG does have pretty dark leaves anyway)
and of course the small footprint of these lights mean you need to try and pack the buds into the canopy to get good yields ;)

ill get a couple of new pics up on thursday

cheers

I'm in the process of building a split level closet, using d-i-y dwc buckets and I had been hoping to use a LED light panel. But all that I've spoken to have poor reviews about them. So I am just gonna wait a bit longer and see how well yours finish.

verdant, is that footprint a deal breaker if you are looking to get the same yield as rubbermaid scrog like I got going?

Can you make up for it with vertical growth?
