Yep boycott them. Maybe an internet campaign informing every grower and smoker in the world that corporate fascists like Starbucks are funding laws which would see them in prison. It seems to me that if mj is the most commonly used illicit drug then we have one hell of a lobby.

As far as I can tell, people are trying to perform a nationwide boycott because an independent franchise owner in the Denver area gave cops some free coffee?
There used to be a time when people boycotted things for important reasons.
Too funny.
Just so you know, I don't drink coffee and I have never been in a Starbucks...

When I heard this I went into Starbucks and spit RIGHT in the barista's face...and they looked at ME like I was crazy!!

Just buy Senseo, you can make it any time you want, and it kicks their coffees beans.

According to reports out of Colorado by SAFER, Starbucks is funding anti-marijuana lobbying in Colorado and elsewhere. Starbucks is being joined by Glock handguns and the alcohol industry.

Join SAFER and WhyProhibition.ca in boycotting Starbucks until they stop funding anti-marijuana lobbying!

Call Starbucks! (800) 235-2883

For more information check out SAFER's action alert:

http://www.saferchoice.org/content/view/995/9/

And so it begins....

Boy you guys really showed 'em!
OK maybe not:

Starbucks says the effort is misguided. The company does not provide financial support to the Colorado law enforcement group.

"This organization is apparently targeting us because a local law enforcement organization in Colorado posted our logo on their website. Starbucks has not taken a position on their issue," the statement said. "We have a tremendous amount of respect for the men and women of local law enforcement. However, we have not sponsored this particular organization through our foundation. It is up to the discretion of our local teams to support those groups that are relevant in their neighborhoods. Our stores often support organizations in their community by donating coffee for their events."

Of course, it is much funner to perpetuate the myth, so I fully expect people to keep boycotting.
Be careful, though.
They gave free coffee to firefighters, too!

Don't drink coffee...it's too addicting

Can't own a gun..if I could it would be a Taurus "Judge"..you all seen one of them?

I don't buy police supplies.

Would fire bombing one of them little drive through Starbuck's count for anything?

fire bombing ?

I believe this comment violates the law.
I would either rephrase your comment or the moderator should remove it.
Advocating an act of terrorism on a public forum isn't very smart.

I've already sent Safer's site messages to Starbucks and the Organizations.

It is really touching to see so many people in the MMJ community come together. With our joint strength, we can take on the 500 lb guerilla corporations that do not have the best interest of humanity in their heart.

I don't think asking a question is the same thing as advocating an act of terror.

To answer the question, it would probably put you in jail for a long time, accomplish nothing but generating sympathy for Starbucks, and a possible backlash against the cannabis movement.

Why not answer the question, instead of accusing someone of being a terrorist?

Am I a terrorist for posting this image?

boa.jpg

The Isla Vista, California branch of BOA was firebombed by radical students in 1970. (I'm surprised this hasn't happened again - lots more reasons to hate BoA these days!)

Today would they be treated as terrorists or just destructive criminals?

I don't think anyone here advocates violence. It's pretty much antithetical to the cannabis mind-set.

But it's good to see we have gov't spies here making sure we don't.

However, if big banks & multinationals keep on going down this path, I wouldn't be surprised if they soon are perceived as the enemies of democracy and once again targeted by radicals. I'd say it's only a matter of time if the economy continues to worsen. Ask Goldman Sachs. They have had to take unusual security precautions, no doubt due to threats against their company.

The REAL question we need to ask: What recourse do the PEOPLE have against corporations when they control our government and soon our election process?

Back during 'Nam daze, people were activated as they are starting to become now with the Tea Parties and cannabis activism.

I don't see a need for the violence though. We have found new ways to get our message across, and we are starting to figure out how to use the new technologies to coordinate things like boycotts. In fact, I predict these boycotts will soon become so effective that the big corporations will ensure that boycotts are outlawed. That's all it takes. And believe me they will try because it is the only effective thing we have left to influence corporate behavior.

So one day this thread itself might be illegal...

At that point we would need to consider other options...

Only because I don't carry a coffee machine around in my car. I also don't want to make a pot of coffee when I only need one cup, or I'm in a hurry and need a nosh with my joe.

ok, keep giving them your money.

FUCK, how can we remind ourselves?? lol, just took my girl to starbucks and now I'm sippin on one of their sugar filled fat cups. This thing is actually gross now, it's been a while since I've had starbucks and it isn't even good anymore.

I don't think asking a question is the same thing as advocating an act of terror.

It is almost certainly enough to allow some to use anti terror laws to justify extreme invasions of our privacy.. Did you know they're locking up environmental activists under anti terror laws?

You and I both know that these laws were created by assholes trying to capitalise on "terror".. some would even say they created some of the "terror" in order to deprive us of our liberties... Lets not make it easy for them or give them any unnecessary reasons to snoop around here is all I'm saying..

So, Starbucks is apparently saying maybe some local stores are doing it. So what? Boycott them anyway! There's a big difference between taking coffee to firefighters et al and supporting an organization with fascist views and political ambitions. If some Starbucks decided to try "Topless Tuesdays" you could be damn sure they'd lose their franchise lickety-split. Starbucks can make rules about what is and what is not permitted of their franchisees, and, if they refuse to do it, they should pay the price.

Besides, this is a Jesse Jackson kind of moment. Truth has no meaning as long as the ball is rolling. Now's the time keep it rolling until some healthy donations are made to some of the better mmj and pro-legalization orgs by Starbucks. Really, Jesse does it all the time, why shouldn't we?
