As many of you know, we gave away several thousand dollars in free lights to various moderators on this forum back in November. Many of them have grows underway or near completion, showing what is possible with our lights in the hands of others. Granted there was a slight learning curve with a few of the members due to new conditions with LED (less heat, less frequent watering, etc...), but overall I think the mods are doing a pretty good job (no doubt their 2nd rounds will be better). :smokeit:

Back when the thread was shutdown for the free light give-away, I stated that our company would be doing another promotion in the future for members only. This is that promotion. :whistling:

We are looking for talented gardeners on the forums, who have plenty of experience with HID growing and are always after maximum yield. If you're new, or only have a few grows under your belt, please do us the favor and refrain from applying. All applicants should submit 2-4 photos of some of their "work", as well as a brief background on their experience and success with HID (grams per watt). Well-respected members are obviously put at the front of the line, and those with recommendations from other users will find themselves in the same position. All "winners" of this promotion, will be required to post grow journals on the forums (in the growing section), as well as links to those journals in their signature. We will ask for updates at least once per week, and that you follow some minor recommendations throughout your grow. Youtube videos at the end of your grows, are also highly encouraged.

Here is what we are offering:

1 Free 126W to a member willing to do a side-by-side comparison grow against a 250W HID.

1 Free 205W to a member willing to do a side-by-side comparison grow against a 400W HPS in Soil.

1 Free 205W to a member willing to do a side-by-side comparison grow against a 400W HPS in Hydro.

1 Free 205W to a member willing to do a side-by-side comparison grow with a ProSource 180W Jumbo in Hydro.

1 Free 345W to a member willing to do a side-by-side comparison grow with a Lumigrow ES (330W)

5 Individuals will receive a 126W unit (2nd Gen) at 50% off. This is only for those experienced in micro-grows, or simple scrog style setups.

We are requesting tests using our 205W against a 400W HPS, solely due to the size of the light footprint. The grow tests using the 205W models should be performed in a 30" x 30" area, which would allow most people approximately 4 plants per light. The test has nothing to do with equivalency, although a gram per watt rating at the end from each light, will show how each one stands.

I know the response on this will be overwhelming, so please don't expect a reply from us right away on who will be receiving what. Make SURE to state in your application post, what promo you are applying for, so we can keep everyone organized. We will make our decision on the winners within the next 1-2 weeks depending on the response.

I would like to toss my hat in the ring for this for the comparable 400w HPS led setup (soil)! I have a tents, 2 400ws, one MH, one HPS, top notch equipment and am very experienced in micro-grows, as it's what i did before i upgraded to tents.

Also to note I have the money for the startup, ie heater and such if needed and the free time to closely document my findings. My growlogs are in my sig, thanks for consideration :). I also have some very nice genetics i'd like to put to test under the LED!

Edit: Setup:

I only have 600's and 250's HID's... I would be in for it otherwise though. I've always wanted to do a comparison.. Looking forward to some results!

a 400 is all these can compete with? Do any serious growers use these things? Give me one that can seriously compete alongside a 1000W HPS, and I'll put it in my 10,000W setup (Check out my journal)

I have no idea what my gram/watt is tho,but aside from that I feel I meet the qualifications for a tester. So I would like to toss my hat in the ring for the 205w side by side with 400w.Good luck and happy gardens to all!!:tumbleweed:

Maybe a side by side using your 250W HID against a 126W LED, as the footprints are fairly similar. I'd maybe consider this an option as well, so let me add it to the first post.

What you are offering now is very generous, however, and respectively, why are you not offering some of your 600w-1000w comparable models? Are you afraid that they won't be on par with yield of a HID equivalent? I understand that with the giveaway now you are trying to put your money where your mouth is so you can prove the technology and create more sales. I believe that if you don't offer the larger models they will be more difficult to sell. I wouldn't buy any without proof.

I run a 600hps so I can't do any of the HID test, but I'll throw my hat in the ring for the 126w micro grow category.

I also have multiple micro cfl cabs (soil) that I've been running for the last year. My 1sq ft cab has been fully documented with weekly updates for the last 4 grows (check links in my sig below) and a current 5th will be getting posted soon.

Here's some examples of how I like to show plant progression for a grow.

These plants were grown in literally 1 square foot of area.

I have a cfl cab that would fit the 126w perfectly and it can be ready to go at any time.

In that case I would love to apply to do this.

Here are some of my bud shots.. Click to make larger.

I get on average about 0.82 g/watt.

Recently I've only been working with the 250's, and strictly organic soil.
I've done hydro, coco, inorganic soil, and now organic soil and I like it the best...

I grow from my own mothers so it's very consistent.

LEDGirl - If you want some good publicity for your products, I'd definitely let blynx test something out. His documentation is some of the best I've seen, and truly shows how the grow progresses. I don't need to tell you any of this, just check out his past four 1sqft grows. I'd love to get some LEDs but I don't have the space atm, though after I see all these side by sides I might have to make some space... Good luck everyone!

The 205W is our 600W HID comparable model in terms of PAR lighting, however it does not occupy the same sized area as a 600W HID, which is why it was not listed for comparison purposes. I'm trying to keep the complaints to the minimum out of respect for the growers who will be receiving these lights. Besides, anyone with basic math skills will be able to look at the yields at the end of the grow between each light, and see how each rates. Using a 400W creates a very similar footprint to the 205W, meaning they can support an identical amount of plants in a fair setting.

If I were afraid to "put my money where my mouth is", then I obviously wouldn't be looking for GOOD growers to send free lights to, and have them compare them to HID would I? So please don't make any more comments of this type, as they are unwarranted and unnecessary.

Lastly, there will be a dual 205W grow vs dual 600W HPS lights being performed by one of the SuperMods. It is not a part of this promotion, but know that the demonstration has already been set in motion and plants are being vegged for it as I type.

So when the pfizer plant in town advertises drug testing and offers to give you the drugs for free if you do some tests for them, why don't they advertise that as a "promotion?"

I have a feeling the "winner's" photos will be used in some advertisements "just look at the results of an independent 'master grower!!!'"

In no way was I being combative in my previous post, don't know why you took offense to it... But thanks for the response. You cleared up some things that I had questions with. Good to know about the SuperMod test grow. Looking forward to the results. Goodluck

Yeah if Blynx doesn't have a comparison thread up in a month or so from now I'm sure I won't be the only shocked and disappointed member on these forums. Besides, if you don't let him have the gear and do the comparison, we'll totally trash talk you in chat and NOBODY wants that!

Soil grower/ 400 watts applying for position.

Experienced 400 watts HPS Soil grower reporting for duty!

I grow in an attic, and even with electronic ballasts, it's just too hot to grow up there most of the time. I would like to try LED.

I have several grow reports listed under My strains.

Thank you for your consideration. I would love to try your product. It has been my desire to try LED for quite a while, I have just been waiting for the technology to get to this point.

I am glad that day has finally arrived.

I would run some identical clones side by side. Same plant, different lighting. I would be running multi strains, same clones in each grouping. I would put the identical clones in identical size areas and put each strain in the same position in both runs.

I bet the LED kicks butt!

List of 400 watt ballasts I could use to compare against yours: (your choice) or both? :)
Sun Systems 400 watt HPS/MH switchable magnetic ballast
CAP Next Gen 400 watt Digital ballast

If lucky enough to be chosen, I will be using a Nikon D60 DSLR 10 MP digital camera to document the promotion. I can provide high quality, high resolution, professional photography in return for the opportunity.

Of course, everyone should expect that all photos submitted in this promotion would belong to LEDGirl to use for advertising, I would expect.

Hope I get the job.

Thank you
