Ten thousand dollar budget... suggestions

I agree with you. 600's are more efficient than 1000's.

Damn, 10 grand is a nice chunk of change set aside for a grow room. How big of a grow do you plan on? I would make sure you get the best odor control and fans that you can. That's an issue I'm starting to run into with only 10 plants. But get the essentials first and worry about air conditioner and shit like that only if you need it.

A grow that costs 10K :), that's how big!

well i think i might just go with soil the first go around.. get established and then expand to a hydro system later down the road.. i would like to get some mother plants going on.. and i want to get the biggest yield possible for the least amount of money and i cant afford to mess up even though i'm confident i wont... and i know digital ballasts put out about 20 percent more lights.. but maybe i should get coil ones.. im just not sure... are coil ballasts a waste of money?

Coils are not a waste especially if your starting then expandind.
Ive got digi's and coil and buy coils because I need to keep expanding.
Like I said, the cost of 2 coils per 1 digi.

Heres some pics of my new room to help explain how I do.
Even got me some double pocket doors for a 5' opening :D
Wanted those for 5-6 years.

I think you can get the tank and the gas for under 100$

try your local fire extinguisher refill shop used tank $80 gas $15 also a great place for your brewers out there to get your gear

if Hades is gonna run an 8kw sealed room he will want at least 2x 50lb tanks. Add the cost of co2 for 2 months, and it's around $500. trust me. or get a generator, they are cheaper in the long run and much easier to refill.

I already rep'd + for Shcrews, that was a bad ass breakdown!
thanks, i had that list saved on the computer for a room i am planning...

original poster would be smart to use that list...

cheers :rtfo:

If you in an area where you dont have to deal with interference then digital is the way to go. I myself use mag ballast because my digi's interfere with the person on the first floors radio.

You can buy stuff pretty cheap at d c h y d r o. c o m

i have grown outdoors before and have done a small grow indoors and only used a 150 watt hps.
Buy ONE light. I would recommend a 600w. Maybe 2.

Set up your table and start running your strain. Dial that table in.

At that point you'll have an excellent idea of what it will take to fill the rest of the room.

Anything else is just pissing money away and creating huge frustrations for you. 150w and 600 or 1000w are two different beasts no matter what type of setup you're running.

Stay Safe! :D :tree:

Gah.. all this talk about equipment got me thinking..

Determine your utility budget. That will dictate your lighting.
Dont skimp on genetics. Get some clones that you can quarantine.
Build while they take root.. Run your lights, exhausts. etc..

Now that I've really thought about it..

Go with a simple hydro first, mebby handwater coco, in 8 inch pots or buckets. with an inexpensive salt based nute, Just lay them out on the floor,

Most of your money will be used for the build, E&F can be fabbed in an hour or so.
Or you can go aero/DWC.. whatever..

So I would favor a large portion of the budget for the infrastructure then genetics.
the cheap part would go with simpler and cheaper hydro like coco, or even growbags and soil.

From that grow, you could recover costs, get things tuned.

I dont know exactly what the conditions the grow are, so me making a shopping list is somewhat pointless.

Just a thought.
