Good BHO tubes

The turkey baster I used last time to make BHO is just too small and I had to keep refiling that thing a bunch of times. I want to get some nice BHO tube that can hold about an ounce or so of trim. Does anyone know of any good BHO tubes?

I have a bunch of trim and popcorn buds sitting around and I am just to lazy to fill up that turkey baster 30 times

Okief all the way! There's a link on the first page of the Butane Honey Oil for Dummies thread.

Hi FLSF, as J117 notes, it is easy to make your own extraction columns out of plumbing parts, or stainless thermos bottles.

We use our own custom glass blower for the Skunk Pharm's custom borosilicate essential botanical oil extraction tubes. Send me a PM if you are interested our local source in Portland, OR. He will make any size you want relatively inexpensively and deliver in in a fully annealed condition.

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I will probably go with the Okief extractor, I saw that one a long time ago but could not remember the name. I don't have a lot of stuff or tools around, so buy the time I go get everything DIY never ends up being that much cheaper.

He doesn't mention what size pipe and type of metal used. Do the metal tubes come pre threaded? Guess ill stop by the hardware store and see what i can piece together.

1" to 1 1/2", depending on length. The smaller the bore, the more completely the material will be washed by a given amount of solvent.

The most trouble free is 300 series stainless. Copper works well also, but has be kept clean of oxides and you must use lead free solder.

Black iron pipe will work as well, but it can also generate a spark if struck.

Here is a picture of a 1" X 36" copper column, that holds ~72 grams of pulverized leaf material. The union near the top is for ease of periodic cleaning the bore. After soldering I boiled the assembly in hot water and swabbed out with denatured alcohol to get rid of any pipe sizing and flux residue.

Note the ghetto stand made out of a cat litter bucket and the stainless steel catch basin, instead of a Pyrex pie dish.

Note it also has a static electricity grounding strap, as would be required to refuel an airplane or rocket.

The catch container sits in a second stainless container of hot water and when the butane has flashed off, it can be dried off and set directly into a 240F oil bath to finish driving off the butane and decarboxylate it for oral ingestion.

If you are using cold evaporation, you should probably stay with the open dish for ease of recovery while cold.

Please also note that while the show and tell picture was taken indoors due to rain, I never under any circumstances run a butane extraction indoors.

Ok noob question, in the pics below what end does the butane go in, nipple end or cap end? I was under the impression that one end stays open and a metal filter is secured. Im heading over to the hardware store today to piece together a unit.

Hi Twisted Metal,

Readme

Input - Cap (right on pics) is drilled in the middle, the opening is for insertion of butan can nozzle (red one on the pix), it is equipped with green gasket.

Output - Barbed Insert Adapter (left) , it is equipped with a metal gauze , next paper filter, next gasket (not shown on pix) and next screw a tube (Pipe Nipple) in.

My smallest DIY extractor, the Barbed Insert Adapter threaded 1/2"(male)

Well went to 2 diff hardware stores with no luck. All they had was galvanized and black steel. With all the gas money and time think i might just buy one from Okief.

Sorry for your wasting the time, in my place these parts are easy available in a store and costs about 10$.

You would think HomeDepot would have it, NOT. I tried another specialty place and its a no go. I just don't understand why its so hard to find. I might try one more place before I order. Time really wasn't wasted per say, just cant believe these places dont have it. Im still on the search Jump, maybe i will order the parts online.

Number one...go to home depot and buy a handicapped shower bar. Take home and cut of the elbows. That should give you roughly 16-17inches of straight tube and its stainless. Two, go to ace hardware and buy a rubber stopper to plug the top end of it. Drill a 1/8th inch hole through the center of the stopper. Three, get a hose clamp, and a 110 micron screen, cut your screen roughly four inches by four inches and clamp it on the bottom of the pipe. Four pack that baby up with a good ounce and half of trim or popcorn nugs! Five, make sure you throw the butane insert inside your rubber stopper hole. Six, and the most important...WEAR A WELDERS GLOVE when holding the tube while starting your wash. Seven, start running your tane through your tube into a pyrex dish. Eight, start runnin a pot with warm water to to set your dish in to purge off the tane. Start out with 15- 20 second baths allowing the tane to bubble out... continue to purge until bubbling stops and you have popped all your bubbles. Nine, scrape that shit up and get nice....

TEN and the most important!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE SURE THIS IS ALL DONE OUT DOORS WITH NO OPEN FLAME OR HEAT SOURCE NEARBY!!!

Eleven, Enjoy life to the fullest because ya only get one run at it....peace and shine on.

I wasted a lot of time and money shopping around trying to get the best tube together. I should have bought an Okief and been done with it. I have one now and would suggest anyone just beginning to get into BHO to forget DIY and just buy an Okief. Much cheaper in the long run.

Nobody likes my Ganja-Cola rig :frown: it works great, just tie a piece of twine soaked in flammable liquid around the base, light it, let it heat, then dunk it in water -> pop! bottom off. Holds about an ounce. A beer bottle or other similar would probably work well too. Was pretty cheap and the Mexican Coke is made with sugar instead of HFCS.

I made a bigger tube out of stainless steel disability grabbers. It was pretty easy to make fittings for the ends, and since these pictures I cut out the bends and rewelded so its straight, but it wasnt that hard to pack and clean even with the bends.

the best thing about a semi closed system like this is that you can use a can tapper and refrigerant lines to blow the butane through.
