i got 4.5 zips off one ww in dwc under a 400, this was grown with 2 others but they hermied and i pulled them. Also this was in a 2x3x6 tent, if i had 2 of these ladies in there (which i should have, and that is my current plan) I could have yielded 9 O's no problem.

do some searches for dwc scrogs 400w hps grows, or go through the indoor grow diaries I've seen a couple people get 1 lb off one plant in dwc vegged for 4-5 weeks under a 400 watt. good luck:joint:

I have 2 400w hps in my 5'w x 3'd x 6'h garden.

My biggest plant yet was 7 oz. The most i have done under those 2 lights is 4 plants in 5 gallon buckets. they were pretty big plants. I am in the process of switching to a 50 plant SOG under the same lights. i imagine it will do quite well based on the results from my bigger plants.

check out the pics in my albums.
gotta love the little 400w.

Personally I have grown 4 plants that received 1-2 weeks veg under a 400w and got a little over 5 Ounces. Both soil and hydro. As of now there are 22 Plants under the same light, and I know I'll at least double my weight. My last run was with 5 plants that received 0 veg, straight from clone and they pulled around 6-10 grams a piece, so with that in mind my new setup should provide at least 300 grams +

With 1-4 plants youre counting on 1-4 root systems to provide your results, with 22 plants i'm relying on the 22 individual (6 per dwc setup, one with 4) to provide my results, which imo gives me more tops, approximately 40 since half are trained, and less opportunity for failure

400's only have about 22 inches of penetration, 6 inches of which are unusable, so that leaves you with less than 1.5 feet max you want your bud sites to be, which leaves you with 2 foot plants max, imo. So its best to try sog/scog or at least keep them relatively small.

pulled the hermies 2 weeks into flower about, so got ~5 ounces from one plant under a 400 watter.

I also grew 10 plants in soil under a 400w and got about the same thing maybe a little less, this was with no veg though and I didn't treat them that well.

Rule of thumb is 1 gram per watt, if you can hit that (which is very possible) you can yield 16 ounces or more in under 2 months (provided you ave a good strain and vegged for 4-5 weeks)

This is the perpetual system that i run, one veg cab, one flower cab. Veg until you have some bushes, then throw them into the flower cab and scrog/lst them. guaranteed to give you at least 3 ounces a plant. 8 ounces a plant is doable if you have your shit dialed in a high yielding strain.

just some food for thought, long live the 400!!!

you can grow as many plants as you want under a 400w. The only difference is going to be the size of the plants when you put them in.

Like i said, i've done up to 4 large plants, but am about to do 50 small ones. it's all about an efficient canopy. That could mean you have 50 clones in a SOG setup, or 1 plant in a ScrOG setup. There is no final answer. It's what you are comfortable growing and how efficiently you use the available light.

- Make sure your canopy is very even (no more than 2" between the tallest and shortest plant)
- If light is hitting the floor then fill that space with plants or reflective material.
- Strip everything below the canopy that isn't receiving full light.
- Make sure there is good airflow, especially when plants are packed in tight.

My air cooled 400w lights are within 12" of the top of my canopy...more like 7". All my grows have been hydro, DWC in 5 gallon buckets.

Just where my head is at.

I have 3 ladies in 5 gallon dwc buckets I veg for 2 weeks and a 400 really isn't great for more then 3 plants grown this way it penetrates the top nicely but doesn't get way down in the bottom i am hoping for 3 ounces off each but who knows

listen to this guy. you really shouldnt be growing anything taller than two maybe three feet (with heavy trimming) under a 400w hps. much more efficient to go smaller/more plants with a 400w. the penetration of the canopy really is a big deal and using either a SOG or SCROG method solves this problem and makes the 400w an extremely efficient growing device.

sorry, real high. i use a cmh during veg and early flower, then switch over to an hps for mid-late flower. The plants veg for about 2-3 weeks from seed and are trained on the scrog @ about 6". Im running a dwc setup too, 1 tub, 14 gallons. Lucas Formula exactly.

For hydro (Eurogrower) I use my 400 watt HPS. Eight plants at maybe 1.5 oz/plant. Small to medium pants.

My Son T Agro HPS lasted less than 1000 hours. Lowe's 400 Watt Sylvanias at $20 is the way I go.
