^Not really the type of attitude cali needs right now to further compassion for the sick.

Read my words Blue Dot. Marijuana should be completely legal. The laws that prevent that reality are bad laws. The sick have plenty of ways and places to get their meds. If they can't afford marijuana as a treatment then there are plenty of meds covered by their insurance company.

If your Compassion wasn't constrained under that narrow window you accept as Compassionate...I would agree with you--
If a person cannot make a living...and by that, I mean a good living...by making a considerable investment in a Business...then I don't think they will do it--
Go buy Marinol @ $1000-$1500/Month--

Yes sales are illegal, the only activity under that code that is specified in the act is give away. That is how they expanded 215 for our protection. Originally you could only grow or posess, with the 420 enhancement you can now give away as well as transport.
How does money change hands when you all you can do is personal activities when not a caregiver. I do not pay myself to grow and no one else can pay me unless I am a their caregiver long before the marijuana provision is considered. You can associate collectively or cooperatively but only for you own personal use, if you are not participating in the grow you can only get meds from one who does grow and gives away some to you. If anyone ever charges you for marijuana they are a criminal.

quit lying. SB 420 specificaly exempts patients with Dr's records from the H&S codes that prohibit sales of marijuana, growing, possesion.

that is what prop 215 and sb 420 do. they do not legalize cannabis. they do not allow anything.

they exempt you from H&S prohibitions that only apply to civilians, not Cannabis patients.

You are the one retard i'm calling out this week.

peace out.

Of course it SHOULD be, but it's NOT.

Is this always your arguement, about what SHOULD be??

Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

My argument is that bad laws should be changed and until then, YOU SHOULDN'T FOLLOW THE LAW. Do you smoke pot? I guess you don't have as much regard for the law as you think you do eh?

That's the difference between you and me. I'll happily break the law by smoking my MJ but I don't whine when caught and try to come up with all kinds of crazy excuses when caught.

I would fully expect a jury to convict me.

Isn't that just common sense?

What a jury does is not my concern. If they choose to follow their conscience and vote against the laws they disagree with then so be it. If they agree with those laws and decide to punish someone for not following them then so be it. My issue is with bad laws and the officials and people that support them. Those are the people who we should be fighting with the logical arguments for our cause. And it seems to me you represent a double standard, you want to smoke pot aka breaking the law but you want others to act with "compassion" based upon the law. Bad law is bad law so either you don't think people should be arrested for making a profit on marijuana or you believe in the law that says you shouldn't be able to make money off of marijuana.

jackson's charges reduced to misdemeanors, gets 3 years probation!

Conviction reduced in medical marijuana case

SAN DIEGO COURTS — A Superior Court judge reduced a felony drug possession conviction to a misdemeanor Wednesday for a Navy veteran who authorities said was the manager of a now-defunct medical marijuana dispensary in Kearny Mesa.

Jovan Christian Jackson, 31, was placed on probation for three years for possessing the drug Ecstasy, and for having Xanax without a prescription. Last month, a jury acquitted Jackson of five charges of possessing and selling marijuana illegally — the major counts — in a case that stirred activists within the medical marijuana community.

San Diego Judge Cynthia Bashant determined Wednesday that Jackson had credit for enough jail time (42 days) to satisfy an $839 fine.

Jackson said outside the courtroom Wednesday that he is thankful the case is over. However, he noted that he remains a member of the marijuana collective called Answerdam Alternative Care.

“If I’m put in a position to lead the collective, I will do that,” Jackson said.

During the trial, which began in late November, prosecutor Chris Lindberg argued that Jackson and other operators of the dispensary were selling the drugs for profit, a violation of the state’s medical marijuana law.

A San Diego police detective testified in trial that he made two undercover buys at the dispensary on Convoy Court in June and July 2008.

Jackson’s lawyer, Lance Rogers, argued that the collective operated legally and professionally. He said members of the collective were asked to show a valid doctor’s recommendation before obtaining any marijuana and sign an agreement that detailed how the collective worked.

California law allows medical marijuana patients to collectively grow the drug to treat their illnesses.

The foreman of Jackson’s jury said the law doesn’t clearly define collectives or cooperatives, so the panel had to find him not guilty.

A co-defendant in the case, 60-year-old Lee Edward Bumpers, pleaded guilty Dec. 9, 2008, to sale of marijuana and was placed on probation for three years.

Jackson has another criminal case pending in which he is accused of possessing and selling marijuana. A preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for Monday.

LOL, this type of double-speak is exactly why I think of Mr. Jackson the way I do.

He's basically saying he was (and will be) the operator of this D when all along his defense was that he was a "minor" player.

Since he's now on probation it would probably be wise for him not to speak because obviously he doesn't think before he speaks.

Many coops and collectives need a manager, it's standard practice. Why don't you just come out and say what your issue is instead of just hinting at it?

He is not on Probation for any Cannabis related charges-- They dropped all those--
I don't see this as "Double Talk"...he clearly stated his stance--

Mr. Jackson still has this to deal with. ^^^

Yeah, it is unclear what that "Other" case is tho-- I would think, if it has to do with the D, then at least the Jury will not be mis-informed this time--

How did I miss this thread? Or maybe I quit following. I was thinking and decided to read what BD said in the thread to some extent. Mr. Dot is angry it seems at a Navy Vet who after serving his country was maybe on hard time (near homeless...). So what if Mr. Jackson received compensation for MJ activities. San Diego is a Navy town and we are a war mongering nation we compensated people who freely kill to protect us. I for one will say not everyone in this country could take up the call to arms if needed.

I am too old to take up arms unless we got really DEEP into the draft pool, so I am very thankful that we have National Defense Caregivers (even if all they do is the fighting and not everything else it would take to be a MMJ caregiver by BS rules).

Mr. Dot I am very glad that you called out that you would want an jury to convict you for an offense if charged. Your clear submission to authority, no matter how evil or immoral, is almost completely harmless; however twelve blue dots could scare the shit out of a political dissident in China who was thinking they might be lucky enough to receive summary execution without hearing a single additional word of state propaganda.

Glad you are here on ICmag, we are a little more borg resistant than most ;)

Peace, :joint:
