Scroger, I sure hope you are right...everything now is just a guess as i dont know these plants, and or pheno! we know there are atleast 2 phenos here..so what will they do..Yet another guess!..thanks for passing some luck my way..I very well may need it...I hope keeping the mh blue 3 weeks in will cover the stretch...this was a recomendation of kind...he switched from his regular mh after 1 week, but wishes he had waited 3 weeks....same strain, Ill take a chance and go with his thoughts on that matter since he has been there with these girls!
Thanks for stopping by scrogger, I always enjoy your comments here!
....Good luck with your grow, and as always keep things safe.....Skunk

Hey Dude Lovin the new pics there,
Just a thought but optimal lamp height is an issue when it concerns the stretch. Set it at the closest safe distance for your size lamp. Every little helps!

They`re looking great mate. How big is your screen mesh? I use the 2inch garden netting like Scroger does, so I`d expect a busy top and rely on stretch to fill it out. Heh heh, having said that I`m like you and just trying to establish the right timing. I`VE JUST BEEN THINNING OUT FAN LEAVES INTHE 2 PLANT SCROG, (oops sorry, didn`t mean to shout, lol), and now as my 14 plant sgrog is filling the screen, I`m realising I`ll probably have to get a couple of pairs of step ladders and a couple of planks so I can shimmey across the top to thin out. That should be fun, and I hadn`t thought this through before now, but hopefully I`ll only have to do it a couple of times when in flower. I can manage the threading through the netting in the early stages from underneath

I`ll hopefully update both my threads tonight and drop in here too. Keep up the great work and dont get too stressed, you`ll manage them fine somehow no matter how they stretch, especially with the great help you`re getting in this thread.

Cheers Toke

Blue, yeah...they are blackjacks from nirvana....Alot of tops!!!to damn many...im a little worried, the crept in on me IN A MATTER OF A FEW DAYS! I just went to 12-12 on 1\2\10 so the stretch hasent even began to start...I might have myself a slight mess on my hands here real soon..Im going to have to be real careful with my training during the next 2 weeks...its gonna be hectic, Stay tuned and watch me struggle through this one...( what i dont want is alot of popcorn budz) lol It should be ok if i make the right moves in the next few 2 weeks or so...The plan i believe is to train and prune for the next 12 days and then let them go!... oh and say a prayer to the bud god LOL
...thanx for stopping by blue.............peace and luck, SKUNK

Hey Scroger, I over estimated the size of my screen when I started the thread (before erecting the screen table), its actually 2.5m by 1.8m giving around 48sq feet, 1800watts, my calculator tells me I have 37.5watts per sq ft, better than the 28 you feared but not really enough to reach the potential of the area. I`m going to try and get rid of a little hotspot problem I have tmro and then hang another 400watt hps. This will bring me a bit closer to the 50 watts per sq ft target coming out at 45.8. The 3 600watt lights are arranged over the 3 trays, the outer two hung from light movers. The central one is hung on a pole and I manually shift it from one end of the tray to the other every day to keep things even. I`m used to this though as this is my first grow with light movers so was manually moving 3 lights daily before this. I intend hanging the extra 400watt on this central pole along with the existing 6oo, this will mean little or no manual moving of lights.

I`m trying to establish the best time to switch to 12/12, I reckon as you said Skunk, its gonna take time. My 2 plant grow I let it fill out the screen to around 60/70% (2 plants in 1.2 sq meters), but it hasn`t completely filled the mesh, but the canopy is too dense with many small buds being obscured from the light, hence me removing many fan leaves recently. I`m going to go with 4 plants in this space next time, LST them and switch as soon as they hit the net.

My 14 plant grow I did just that, ie. LST`d them and put the screen down firmly on them, bending them over from the start and switched them straight over to 12/12. I dont know if I`ve got it right or not, I suspect there will be lots of learning and fun along the way.

I`ve had serious issues with either feeding regime, nut def`s or nut lock-outs. I think I`m getting on top of that after changing my larger grow to RO water, upping the extraction and experimenting with feeding quantities. Its been a depressing problem for 3 grows now, but I`m starting to get excited again now.

Toke;)

Hey Skunk, I`m wondering what`s made you decide on 12 days? I`m not sure when to leave mine to do their own thing, but I kept training my 2 plant space too long I reckon, and I think I`ll be getting a fair amount of small and popcorn buds. I dont want this to be the case with my big scrog, can you imagine the trimming??

12 days seems like a happy medium, just wondered where you got the notion?

Toke ;-)

You are on your way Skunk, very exiting :) I hope the MH will do the trick for you brother and keep them a bit down. They look very healthy, the leaf size looks good as well. I'm always concerned about stunting them in a scrog set up, but yours look great. Do me a favor and keep record of what you are feeding them and when, might come in handy during my next round with them. Between the view of us we might as well keep records so we can dial this strain in ;)

Hey Kind, what concerns you about stunting them in a scrog set up??? Excuse my ignorance, just wondering if its something I need to be concerned about?

Thanks, Toke:whistling:

Good morning Tokesome :)
What worries me is that I got off to great starts 2 times before with scrogs and each time they stunted out after the stretch. I personally always thought it had something to do with my grow space (sealed... and all that) but I certainly did notice that the plant I could not reach very well dit a lot better then the ones that got the full treatment i.e. removing leafs under the screen etc. So I figure that regardless of whatever else I may have fuckt up some strains will just not respond kindly to fondling.
I don't think that there is anything for you to worry about other then keeping our fingers crossed cause I want you to have a bumper harvest and I also want to scrog this strain next round.
Keep it up Toke!

Ill add more later, but here is the screen...lefthalf and right half...

They look great mate, nice work!, How big is the mesh of your screen, just so I can get a sense of scale?

And what made you decide that from day 12 you`ll let them do their own thing so to speak.

Kind, take a look at the 2 plant cheesey scrog, I think that has stunted out, partly due to bending and tucking well after stretch in a bid to fill the screen. I hope to time it better with my big scrog and let them get at least a little unruly on top.

Toke.....my netting was originally big, the kind you can buy at the hydro shop....too big for my taste...I used spider wire to again cut the white squares in half...if you look close you can see it. Im no expert, but i would say go with something that has about 2 inch squares...next round im upgrading my net..found sometthing perfect at a farm shop.."a type of fencing, painted with plastic coated paint. should be about perfect....as for the 12 days its a guess as i do not know how this strain will react?...Scrogerman is very knowledgable in these types of grows and this is the time frame he was thinking as well? But who knows, neither of us have grown blackjack before so if its the wrong choice..its no ones fault.HOW EVER i happen to have a good feeling!

ya umm..im not sure but i do believe that there is a point at which you want to stop training, pruning or really in any way messing with them to much. once I stop around day 12, thats it gotta let them go
and hope i made the right decisions. If not they might hit the ceiling! lol...I believe it will be ok in the end though. I have about 3 feet above the screen untill they would hit the light, with the light up all the way...a little less room under the can filter.

alright then toke...thanks for stopping by! ill be stopping in on your grows as well, so keep up the good work, and i wish you luck with them. Peace, Skunk

12-5-10 stats

12-5-10 stats

Ill keep this short for now... you should know if you have been following I just flipped to 12-12 on 1-2-10, so now im waiting for the stretch to hit. Not really looking forward to all of the training that ill have to be doing to keep things even and in check...so far it seems ive done an alright job for a novice! I feel good about it, but only time will tell how well i actually did! would be nice to get a GPW on my first real grow!
Back to topic.................................................................................
currently My PH is at 5.8, and has stayed steady at that reading for days now...Ive had my topper turned off again and have just been making adjustments to the controller. It seems that since i flipped the girls have been more interested in drinking the water than taking up any real amount of nutes? I ADD PURE WATER EVERY DAY TO BRING MY ppm'S bACK DOWN TO 600. Not a big fluxuation but its a change from before. Im sure its no big deal! Right now im at an EC of 1.3 or 620 PPM at .5 conversion...the nute temp is a steady 68 degrees F, Cab temp has been on average 75-80 degrees F with an RH of between 30 and 45 percent...Lights out temp is about 70degrees F

as you can tell i just trained the canapy and tucked a ton of leaves...if it looks funny compared to the usual pics this is the reason...tomorrow evening they will be standing up full again.
well, thats about it...Thanks for stopping by the thread..peace and luck everyone..................Skunk..................:watchplant:

I concure, Stretch is a real bummer to 'Guess. Indica's dont stretch much, Hybrids vary , n Sati's go nuts & will hit the ceiling if you aint carefull. So from that, we got that as a rough sort of ball park point & we can pretty much guess what the fk, s gonna go down(to some extent!).
Mates of mine have lost a few screens to the stretch too & they seemed to stunt. They were Indi dom and they run the stretch out into the screen, 'popcorn heaven'- Bummer!(Only seems to happen to the Indi's)
I can see them still stretching to 21- 24 days after swithing 12/12, as alot do, some more than others. It would be a good idea to look at the Gene's here. I think she's a Black Domino x JH, so i tink its worth a little further investigation into them, this may help some too. Either way its a fk'in guess and its always better to know your strain. Looking V'Good there Bro'.....

Peace........Scrog'
