Sorry for the long Wait... Here's the Update.

The girls have been busy, and healthy. This post is to contradict all of the nay sayers that tell me that my plants are too far away from the lights, and all of those who enjoy checking out my mini grows. If you have any input, I am always looking for new ideas and suggestions. So all you lurking no-sayers... hop out and say what's up. Here she goes.......
picture.php
Purpins has gotten much bigger. This was a week after my last post.
picture.php
The Goo is also doing very well. Here she is in her full splendor. This was at the same time as the 1st pic of Mary Purpins.
picture.php
Notice how branchy fimming makes your plant. Very easy to grow multiple colas. Isn't Mary Purpins beautiful?

With the help of the Foggatron that I built... The root structurs look like this. Roooooooooot Porn.

Word. I used to have a square foot. Now it's about a square 10 inchces, with the new sump. But I hauled a big grow out of it last time, and this time should be bigger still!

Hey Boleman, looking good. Your root system is very nice looking! I would like to give you my opinion tho. You should lower your lights or raise your rez. Not being a nay sayer, but your roots are way more advanced than your plants. Increase your lights strength will keep your plants more balanced. Low light is great for root systems, but will increase your veg time by alot! They look great, dont get me wrong...but your roots are growing faster than the top. Those roots are gonna be huge when the are done, you could grow a tree!

Obviously your fogger is working great! If you don't mind a couple extra weeks of veg, then leave it they way it is...but if you are in a hurry I would give more light to balace them out.

Oh yeah, you have 2 different strains in one Rez right? Be careful, they could want differnt levels of nutes and be done at different times. They are much different in size already. You would have to harvest at the sametime for both, cause your root systems will be tangled by then. Excellent job, only thing I would change is more light! Keep up the good work.

Hey Boleman, somehow i missed your grow. Sorry 'bout that.
Mary looks incredible so far. I will be watching your grow closely now. :smokeit:

Hey slowandeasy,

Wouldn't low light cause stretch rather than slow growth?
Since this is hydro-aero setup, i would imagine whole point is to grow big ass roots in the first place.
If it works dont fuck with it :YaRight:As your name says, slow and easy. :smoker:

Not exactly. He has enough light to not stretch, but the plants are putting more energy towards rooting instead of upward growth. Growing hydro will make huge roots, but balance is the key. They are not stretching, because his fridge is so small. The plants will grow to the light, it will just take longer.

Growing hydro will make huge nice root systems, but that is not the whole point of growing hydro. Hydro grows faster and stronger if done right, but if your plant puts more energy to the roots than the top....which is gonna grow more? Just trying to help him out with an honest opinion. Not ragging on him, I am trying to help.

Like I said before, the plants look good and if extra grow time is not a big deal then cool. Keep up the good work Boleman.

Wow man its all looking good. Did you fim to get all that amazing branching out? And how much distance is there between the top of your sump and screen? Looks pretty tight between there but doesnt look like their effected by it with all that branching. Great job!!

Perhaps a newbie sort of question here, but when looking at the root structure and the actual area which is fed by the fogger versus the mass of roots that is growing directly in the bubbling res, what method would you say is causing the overall plant growth?

In a perfect world where we would be testing how well a fogger feeds a plant from start to finish; we would need to extend the res and fogger 4 more feet and let the roots hang without falling into some sort of rez that would feed them directly.

I applaud your grow thus far, and am envious of your work. As a curious newb' with interest in aero and fogging plant feeding methods, I am still looking for a grow where someone is letting the roots hang without coming to rest in a rez.

I'm subscribed and wish you well.

Slow&Easy. Maybe your not getting the point. It is because of the fogger and the fimming that created root mass with less plant mass. It has nothing to do with how far they are from the lights. But, you must be the guy who tries to put his plants right next to the sun because it is not enought light all the time. Don't be such a light worry. My node spacing is not even visible on the goo and it is barely visible on the Mary Purpins. I think it is soo funny when people try to tell me how to grow my plants. The plants will grow closer to the light, and by that point they are going to be closer than I want them.

These plants have been booming growth for the entire grow so far. You mentioned a longer vege time. Do you even know how to grow, or pay attention to what you read? These plants have had a shorter grow cycle than the last set of three plants. I only have two and I have better looking pre-bud-sicles. They are and have never been too far from the lights. I got over 40 grams out of my last grow and it was further from the lights because of a smaller sump, and a higher screen. Maybe you should try moving your plants further away from the lights so you get larger colas bro.

BTW the plants are just about the same size now. The only reason they were different sizes is because the goo took an extra week and a half to root, and the purpins is just a freak of growth in nature. Plus the goo grows much slower vertically because of the extremely tight node spacing. You always tell me you would change the light. What are you using CFLs. What a joker. I challenge you to a grow in the same space as me, bet you I will get a bigger yield than you bro any day.

For every one elses knowledge... This grow has allready surpassed what I thought It was going to look like, and It will do just fine. these PLL lights have at least double the light penetration that they are advertised to have. Conspiricy? Maybe they don't want you growing plants under them......

Peace.

Yeah bro the plants are definately doing great. I fimmed (or topped) these girls 3 times, so they looked like they were growing really slow, but in fact, they were actually growing very fast. I have over 50 different tops from one plant. Fimming is easy. It will always increase your yield. However if you are not using a fog system, the plants will grow very slowly because of all the shock you are putting them through. With fog, you are able to do this growing method and it is still faster than DWC with no fimming.

Peace. Happy Hanika, Chrismas, and New Year.

Guess i need to get on the ball and finish my build so that i can get the DWC method down and take a try a aero or fog. whats your goal come harvest time? And what is the distance between the top of the sump and your scrog screen? Im guessing around 4".

Not a nube question, first off, and second off this one has a complicated answer. I have designed a filtering mechanism of sorts that are between the fogger chamber and the DWC chamber of the Res. This allows the water to get to the fogger with a lighter concentration of nutes. I did this because of the way that foggers tend to burn plants from a much smaller dose of nutrients. By diffusing the nutriented water, it has less nutrients inside of it, which allows good root growth. It is also on a timer that runs fifteen minutes on and fifteen off all the time. This aids in the fogger not over heating the sump.

There are actually two different kinds of root masses here. The mass that goes from the net pots, is very fuzzy and brilliantly white, with new growth every day... These roots tend to grow a little more horozontally, so they are spacious and airated inside, but have a lot of density to them. The root mass under the water line, is exactly that of a DWC system. Long and prickly looking. kind of like barbed wire, if barbed wire could grow weed man.

In a perfect world you are right. However, in my budget, I only have time and money to produce one grow at a time. The water diffuser method works great, and I came up with it after watching Aerohead work with our fogger design for him. It seemed that there were too many nutes in the water, so he had to run them really light. My design seems to be working quite well, and have had much less problems with the plants. The full fog grow would be interesting, however, it's never just fog... in less you are on an industrial level and have a lot of space. otherwise you have to combo it up, because you get a lot more growth out of the roots than you might think. My plantsare about 8" tall after being scrogged, but the roots are almost as long as my legs, and to fill that much space with fogg would be difficult, plus they would still end up hitting the bottom eventually. I like em to hit something really good at the end, to ensure well roundedness. I have only 20 or so vertical inches in my grow box, the roots were taller than the case when the plants were 3 inches tall. I think to do the full hang... you would have to use a scrog for the roots as well, so that they can't just grow down forever and get longer and longer.

Thank you for all your questions and compliments.

Yeah thats pretty neat, I'd like to hear more about the resulting plant and how the seed-halves combined; I guess it would wind up the same way a graft would, only the whole plant, roots and main stem included, is sort of a half and half - not a genetic blend. Worthwhile topic for the Breeders Den.

The reason the root masses are so big is mainly because it is feeding a tripple fimmed plant. She is not simply one plant. She is more like 50 plants. this lady is mad and outgrows all other strains I have put her against.

Thank you dr. dank. Do first I took the shells off of the seeds (very delicately). Then I bisected the little germs, then I soaked and germinated the newly combined seeds. I was high and playing around. I didn't think it would work... but cool!

The distance between the top of the sump and the screen is 1". That's right... one inch. I am trying to make the most of the micro. To be honest with you, I think I will get around 1oz out of this grow, but I am not packing it in like I did with my last one. Sadly, this will be my last grow in the mini fridge. I am donating it to a friend of mine who also has a medical card, so she can do it herself and I am moving to a grow about 3 times the size that is perpetual after this. That way I get enough nuggies to smoke all the time! Yay!
