I use to use magi-cal and I ended up decreasing the amount of nutrients I was feeding and the need for the magic-cal went away. I don't use RO water, I have an excellent rock well. I'm working on using molasses in lieu of sugar daddy by bubbling 1tsp/gal of balanced water for 24 hours.....use it as I would sugar daddy, and so far with tomato plants, I see no difference. I'm about to start using it on a few of my girls in hempy buckets and if there is no difference with them, then I'll be a believer. But so far, it has had no negative affect on my tomato plants. hope this helps.

Oh ya I also use koolbloom from weeks 3-7 and easily get a qp to 6 ozs a plant every time. Just keep that ph at 6.0 and your golden and should never need the calmag .
Good luck

KoolBloom is some strong stuff. I give 'em just a taste then bump it up to 350ppm for this product alone. Pure potassium fellas, don't breath it & find some gloves. For sure brings up the weight and aroma. Make sure you flush real good or it can leave a bitter after taste.

hey, bostrom, i built all my lights from kits from www.1000bulbs.com. ballast kits under 100 bucks and hps 1k hortilux for 70 bucks.

later

holy shit! i just looked at their site and they have raised prices! anyway, if you get the multi-tap ballast you have the option of switching to 240v later. 1/2 the amps = more lights on a circuit without overload.

I've got a quick question on the amount of volume per plant needed. I'm doing a autoflower SOG in a hempy tub with plants that will grow around 11-16" tall. The container I'm using for the tub is 6" deep with a volume of 6.66 gallons. Since its a SOG I want the maximum number of plants possible, so do you guys think I could get away with 8? That would give about .83 gallons of space per plant.

Yup, you should be fine. Just think about how long you are vegging, I'd say not more than 4 weeks. If that won't fill up your SOG, add more plants. I use 32 oz gatorade bottles (about 25 oz of material) and they do just fine.

goodluck!

fish-glad to hear you're back on top of things! We had a little scare last week with our plants not getting fed for a few days...they looked pretty sad for a few days but are mostly back now.

This is my 1st hempy grow, ran into problem at 5-6 wks flowering.

This is my 1st hempy grow, ran into problem at 5-6 wks flowering.

For the research I've looked a up, it looks to be a P def. This started showeing signs at 4 wks, is now at 7 wks on Monday. The thing here is that, I ran a dwc before and had same problem at same time. So what is it that I'm doin wrong, and when? I hope someone has some insight on this matter, it's drivin me crazy. I have tried and tried to figure out the issue, I tend to think that it PH related. I was told when I started my hempys' I didn't have to worry about the PH. I haven't had a problem untill now, I jus wonder if it's PH. Goes in at 5.5 & out at 6.2, seems good to me, right?

great thread

I have a plan of using 2000 watts and 5 gallon hempys. what would be the best # of 5 gallon hemps under a 1000 watts. also I,m going to put a scrog screen for each 5 gallon hempy, indivdual sceens for mobility. thanks again for a good thread.

Substitute for Verm.

Substitute for Verm.

Been reading all day on this thread... 1st time hempy user and can't find anything on using Sphagnum Moss with Perlite...It acts as a wick, but is for more acidic plants.Would flushing cure this problem ? :smokeit:

I think the reason you can't find what your looking for is that hempys' are still a pretty new concept. People are just now or have been for only a few years, been experimenting around with different mediums. So I you can't find it in here, then maybe it hasn't been done before. I figure that, you think it will work, go for it then. It's all jus trial and error, anyway. Good luck with that, man.

same as any normal grow. most people suggest a 4 x 4 footprint for 1000w, so whatever you can fit in there ... probably 10-12, just throwin it out there.

I'd base that on how big a screen you want each plant to fill. You could fit 16 if you make the screens small enough that the buckets are pretty much touching, or 4 if you put a 2X2 screen on each and veg longer. Somewhere in that range you should find a number that works for your needs.
