I say your ok. Think about it like this, most modern computers today use a power supply close to 1000 watts. I have a space heater that uses 1500 watts.

I run enough PCs that to be honest if they were going to "suspect" me they would have long since. I think you will be fine.

I run 4 gaming PCs up pretty much every day, and two laptops, the lappys draw alot less power but when both are up easily nail 500w or more, my desktops are each on a 750-1kwatt PS.

When I run flowering I just power off 2 of my 4 pcs during the day and cut down on my power.

If asked why I have 4 PCs running in this thread, I will answer with, me, my spouse, a server for vent/teamspeak/ftp, and a media pc on a 40" HDTV since we do not do cable. The laptops are for multiboxing (running two instances of the game) if we are playing an online game.

I could theoretically run 2 1k watt lights with no bill change if I could deal with heat issues could easily do it in my apt.

You'll be solid with a single 1k.

Seems like some of you think that a pc or laptop draws the wattage that is written on the PS or AC/DC converter 100% of the time.
That is not true.. Depends on the computer performances, you can have a 750-1000w PSU
on a not so powerful pc and draw under 100w most of the time.

I have tested my PC's and laptops and I usually have around 140-220 W (over 300W when I'm gaming or playing HD media) on my PC's and 30-75W (90w only when playing HD media and charging the battery the same time or gaming) on my laptops. and all of them are quite good configurations, not the best a.t.m. but I just gave an example.

Power usage should be fine, get a secret jardin dr150, a can 33 carbon scrubber and a 6'' vortex. have the scrubber mounted outside the jardin with the vortex blowing into it, sucking hot air from the 6'' aircooled hood and scrubbing the odor all with one fan. :tree:

Be safe :smokeit:

No I don't think it draws the complete power draw 100% of the time, but, I do know that 1000 watts is not a life breaker, between my electronics, air conditioners in the summer, heaters in the winter, large televisions, and general electronics happy lifestyle.

Also if you know a lot about PCs you will know that a 1000 watt PSU will draw 400-500 watts during a gaming session under full load and sli, 600 watts or more if you are running multiple apps while running a high end game.

A good discussion about this from one forum I visit.
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1353675

Some info from Toms Hardware
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/258966-28-purpose-1000-watt-power-supplies

Usually a PSU will use 30%-50% of their power rating at the wall idle, more under a heavy load and even more with more high end compnents. A 650 watt PST drew 240 at the wall under full load by that tester at Tom's. But that is with one video card. SLi rigs eat a lot more power.

My PCS are all dual video card and usually running multiple apps. At the wall I draw 310~ on my media rig, 450~ when running blu ray.

Gaming PC draws 360~ at the wall idle, 710~ with Crysis on full specs.

Spouse's pc has similar draws to mine.

So, as I said I turn off two pcs at circa 500 watts each and I am not seeing a bill difference of significant note with a 1k.

dopey i think you are fine.

I am basically in the same situation, just a 600W plus all my veg shit. Don't forget about fans and all that other crap as well, that can add up.

Only thing I worry about is blowing my fuse box, so watch for that as well.

I think most apartments / condos with included utilities do not and will not look at electric bills. I would be surprised if complexes would even be able to see the breakdown by each apartment. They probably just get one big bill for the building (at a discounted rate perhaps?) and probably don't think twice about paying it. It would probably take some asking and research to get individual room reports.

Just my twocents.

Peace,
sg

good to go or too much?

Im not sure that everyone here has the proper perspective....

To me doing this isnt much different than stealing...

If the guy was paying for his own electricity then fine....

In this case you are asking for the landlord to pay for the additional 1000 watts....

Its just not fair.....

I think it's totally fair. The LL rents it as utilities included. It doesn't matter if he's growing, gaming, or old as dirt and keeps his apt. at 85.
It's like you're saying it's wrong for a fat person to go to an all you can eat buffet. Everyone knows "He's" gonna put a dent in the Generals Tso's Chicken.

Stealing is when you knock a hole in your basement's wall, put on those big 10K volt electrician gloves and by-pass the meter.

Taking what's yours in the contract, hell...that's not even exploitation.

Fire it up, 1 K is nothing.

I disagree..... gaming...4 tvs...heat all fine.....

growing weed is not the same.....

Its stealing to me.....

By the way....do not be at all surprised if the landlord is able to figure out that you are growing.......

Its one of those ....duh things......

Doesnt anyone know that the fastest way to get caught is to steal electricity....

stealing the landlords electricity included.....

you checked the individual meters and saw a 12 on 12 off power ratio for 1K-ish watts?

In response to the person who asked why Multibox in an online game. I play MMOs, I do not multibox content but I multibox to level up alt characters. I make one account, level a character to max and then use that character to run my and my wife's low level characters through dungeons and such.

To the person who claims it is stealing, I must join those in asking why you are on a growing board?

As for a Landlord noticing 1k 12/12 changes, I highly doubt it. Even the electric company won't note that. Now power fluctuations in the area of 5k+ on a 12/12 switch that would raise some flags I would think.
