Lebanon's Bekaa Valley Ramps Up Hashish Production

Remember Red Leb, that spicy red hashish from Lebanon? Well most of it comes from the Bekaa Valley, and now they are once again producing hashish on a big scale.

According to this article there are 10 clans that oversee marijuana production in the Bekaa Valley. Supposedly the distribution is now provided by Hezbollah, the terror organization that seeks the destruction of Israel. Hezbollah has been accused of seeking to undermine Israeli society by smuggling hashish and heroin, which is also produced in Bekaa Valley, into Israel.

Of course hashish production in Lebanon is nothing new and predates Hezbollah. The Lebanese government has begun destroying fields of cannabis in the Bekaa Valley, but it's unlikely to stop the flow of Red Lebanese hash.

Due to the hash, opium, clans, Hezbollah and the Lebanese government's interdiction efforts, the Bekaa Valley is probably one of the most dangerous places on the planet to visit...

I was reading a thread on icmag about someone who visited the Bekaa Valley recently. Pretty much confirmed what this article said I think.

I'd love to see some pix from there! :)

I remember "RED"

I remember "RED"

In 1976 we used to get that every Christmas in the midwest. It was $25.00 a Q. It was a deep redish brown, a tad soft and so much fun to smoke.

I do not remember seeing it any where since the 70's.

I love production reports

Hey skip,,,
I'm from lebanon.
This article is false.......
Hash production isn't going up at all.
For the past few months a lot of field are getting burned, alot of big dealers/clans/whatever are getting killed or arrested.
In the capitol, good hash is quite difficult to find for ppl who don't have direct connections to Baalbek. Most ppl here are smoking soap bar.

Getting caught with hash is quite serious in leb. It used to be legal here till Team America got the local police involved in its drug war.

A few grams will land you in jail for a few days (up to a few months if you don't have some political connections), usually accompanied by physical torture so that you rat out your friends and dealer.

Quite nice over here don't you think :p

Also,,, hezbollah's intelligence has been helping the police lately to catch small timers here in the capitol...
I'd take that propaganda with a grain of salt..Anything to make hezbollah look bad...

Half the world already thinks that they're an uber terrorist organization. But, that's not the topic here now is it ;)

Peace.

This kind of article has been published on a regular basis since nearly 10 years now, and I am still longing for some quality Lebanese hash. I didn't see that much of it during my last stay in A'dam and those i've sampled were rather on the low quality side.
during the 80s war in Lebanon, French soldiers brought back to France tons of the stuff, but obviously those who are stationned there under UN mandat aren't in that thing anymore, sad...

I disagree, and many people here will do so too, Leb landraces can produce excellent material.

mriko, anything is possible with breeding, but as far as it goes, the local landrace strain isn't that good really. The plant is quite robust and hardy, so theres some good traits in it, but as far as potency goes, not that good to grow directly.

I've seen so many people post grows of "lebanese" strains that look nothing like the ones here.

Just like some "Nigerian Nightmares" might have nothing to do with nigeria,, or "Cali orange bud" nothing with california,,,, some of the "lebanese" stuff you have seen are prolly just as much related to Lebanon.
Bad examples I know, but you get the picture.

Lebanese make hash simply because smoking the bud won't do much. FACT (trust me on this one .... I've seen them with my own eyes,, and smoked them..UNSEEDED)

The only good "weed" we get here is grown indoors just like everywhere else, and very very very rare to find (and not to mention expensive). The so-so outdoor weed that isn't useless doesn't originate from the Bekaa valey, and doesnt use the lebanese landrace. They are cultivated in the low altitude mountain regions. In places like B'shirri.

Getting hash out of the country is easy.
Getting it into your country is what you should be worrying about :p
