What's it about?...I will google/wikki it, and find out, just wanted a description and opinion...

It's kinda complicated. Basically it's a good interpretation of the need to reconcile two different cultures which have two different ways of narrating. There's humor in there too, albeit subtle. The characters are mostly from the Blackfoot tribe around the Canadian/USA border.

Really good! If you like watching Westerns, it might not be good...lol. ;)

anyone ever try audio books? I keep a bunch of books on my ipod while im working.

I LOVE the Harry Potters!

I am reading "The Dresdin Files" now, funny and really holds your interest.

Best books ever in life though are "A song of fire and ice" By George R.R. Martin.
HBO has picked them up and are making some mini series about it..going to be epic. GREAT charters and he shows how people really are. Not all good, not all bad with alot of gray area.

BEST BOOK EVER imo

I am reading Orwell's 1984, for free, online, here - http://www.readprint.com/ I love the irony of it

Speaking of irony, http://alceria.net/dk/pics/orwell_plaza.jpg

I just finished Thomas Hylland Eriksens Tyranny of the Moment, very interesting book about how people now days got less and less time for themselves and family even tho there is new technology that is supposed to save time popping up like mushrooms after rain. Of course it doesn't concern an indolent hippie like myself, I don't even know what time it is in Babylon.. I only count the weeks till harvest :tree:

But anyways the subject got me really interested so if you got anything even remotely related feel free to share it.

Also read recently few books from Chuck Palahniuk, very entertaining, recommend for everybody. Even if you're not that much into reading, hes books will get ya hooked ;)

And One Child by Torey Hayden is one of my all time favourite books. It's completely different from what I usually read but still it's the only book that I've read like five times. Emotional rollercoaster from beginning to the end. Also gives a little perspective, makes you realize that your problems ain't that big after all..

I read A Game of Thrones. Absolutely loved it. I bought the second but never got around to really starting it. That is amazing that HBO is going to do a series. I won't miss that. Have you heard when?

Reading is one of the things that gives the imagination exercise!
The wonderful tales of Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book' are enchanting and point out the follies of man with allegories based on the English White Men who still ruled india @ the time.

I collect first editions and a little known interesting fact: Rudyard put swastika's on the inside leaf of most of his books. These were published before the advent of Nazi's so there was no negativity attached to the symbol.

What book(s) are you reading right now?

No, not RIGHT now, but if you're in the middle of a book (or books), show off your literary prowess and tell us about it!

The Lost Symbol - Dan Brown's latest. It follows the typical Dan Brown formula so I have it set aside in favor of The General Theory of Employment, Interest & Money by John Maynard Keynes. After all these years it is still an interesting read...

Oh, just read Beowulf again. You have to try it; it's like The Iliad & The Odyssey. I never appreciated it in school, but you know how it goes. The classics always come back to you.

Re-reading The catcher in the rye. I do so every yeAR. If you have not please read the Catcher in the rye.

Ever watch the Ghost in the Shell series of anime? The Laughing Man episodes are awesome and relate very strongly to the themes in Catcher in the Rye - awesome book btw... Oh, I know this isnt an anime thread but since you read it every year, I have to reccommend you watch Ghost in the Shell "Stand Alone Complex" 1st GIG boxset - the laughing man episodes are in it - you won't regret this man! Trust me!

Anyway - I just finished reading "The Alchemist" By Paulo Coelho, a south american writer... A short book, very charming, tells a story of an Analusian shepherd boy who has the courage to follow a dream... Literally!

Interesting to note that, in its' first run, "The Alchemist" got a print run of 50,000 copies yet in its first year was read by approx. 1,000,000 people - that means each book got passed around 20 times (WOW) ... don't believe it? I've bought it 7 times now, and no doubt after I finish it again (probably tomorrow, it's a short book) I'll pass it onto someone else...

It's the kind of book which sits well with anyone, it is a wonderful story and inspiring enough to make you smile for days after...

With peace,

Im not sure when its gonna be out but they are filming now. so it will be a bit im thinking.

I started reading "Under the banner of heaven" and its AWSOME. Is all about the killing and bad stuff done in the name of god. Really interesting.
