Well....glad this thread has provoked a nice debate...and some useful tips for those unwilling or unable to leave IE.

But the performance alone on firefox is massively improved from IE. And installation is very quick and a breeze. All my favourites, cookies, etc all transferred automatically as part of install.

Simply pukka. Just do it....is my advice.

@Chuck : Yes....exactly the problem. Firefox notices these things, but just handles them, without requiring any action by you. I advise you to install firefox.

I got a tip on this the other day and thought I'd share.

"https" is personal info security (names, acct numbers, etc) not IP address encryption. Since we don't advertise our personal info in the general forums, we don't benefit from https.

If you want to disguise your connection, consider a proxy.

If you're confined to IE, you can set it up to delete all cookies on exit.

Not sure you have that right tbh m8, im no expert but the way i understand it https encrypts your all your data and it is then un-encrypted at the server end.

So bscailly someone sitting between the two connections(some rogue at your isp for example) cant read whats sent, whereas if you dont encrypt it they would be able to.

Fairly sure thats how it work, icmag wouldn't have it if it did nothing for us.

I was just noticing in Firefox, when I am on the https, I get a red "!" in the bottom right hand corner that says "Warning: Unauthenticated Content." When I double click on it, I get a box telling me that parts of the transmission were not encrypted and that this information could be read by other people.
So, it sounds to me as tho icmags https is completely useless.

Which makes me wonder why when I type http, i get REDIRECTED to https. Fucking weird.

Can you chime in on this Skip?

I think this is caused by images that are not shoted on icmag, i.e. when someone links to an image hosted on another site in a post or sig, this does mean that the host of the image could get your ip address, but all that give them is a list of ip's that viewed a thread, it wouldnt link anything to you or your username, and any data you send while posting on ic would still be encrypted.

The second one if defo fucking wierd, lol.

It's happening to me as well. The board must have received an update or something because shit like this doesn't happen for a reason.

https:// is used for password and user id encryption purposes. Our server requires the use of https:// whenever logging in from somewhere other than a work station.

Security warning

I keep getting this pop up. It says something like "Do you want to view only the content delivered securely?"

It only comes up on this site and SB. It is VERY annoying as it pops up every time I go to a different page. And ONLY on these two sites. Any way to get rid of it????

Thanks..

It started last week for me. I haven't changed anything on my PC. Some times it don't pop up and some times it does. That is what I don't understand.

Look at the address and securely it starts https. If you delete the s and just have http you will not have any more problems. Peace and smoke.

Here is how to take care of the problem. It's kind of lengthy, but it works because I had the same issue.

First go to the top of your screen where it says "tools" and click on "internet options".

When the next page pops up, you are going to see tabs at the top of the screen. You need to click on the tab that says "security".

When the "security" page comes up, you'll see in the middle of the screen a navigational button called "custom level". Click on "custom level".

Now this will take you to a screen where you will have a LOOOOONG list of options to choose from. You are going to scroll down (to about half the page or more) to where it says "Display Mixed Content". You will see that your "display mixed content" is already set on "disable". You are going to click "enable" now and then MAKE SURE you click O.K at the bottom of your screen or it won't work.

Once you click O.K, it will take you back to the previous page where it will ask you to "APPLY" at the bottom of your screen or it will ask you to click "O.K" again (depending on what sofware your running). If you don't click O.K twice, it's not going to work.

I know what I typed seems like a lot of gibbrish, but I had the same issues on both my laptops and it works perfectly now. It might take a swing or two but just minimize that screen and keep following my notes. From what I typed, I just did a damn good explanation!

Good luck partner -
