Security Warnings

Opened up icmag this morning....like I do every day.

Hmmm....seems every internal link now starts "https:" rather than "http:"

No problem....except for that damn popup that says "do you wish to view content that is not delivered securely? Yes No"

On every single page!

Driving me crazy....Is there a way to stop this popping up every time I do anything?

Thanks!

B.

Edit: I'm running IE...whatever the latest version is.

Point taken....but I don't want to have to download a new browser, and re-set up all my favourites just for this one little thing if there's just an option I can change somewhere...

Edit: Am I right in thinking this is happening because while generic internal links have been updated to https, the advertisement engine hasn't? If I select "Yes"....some of the bay/boo and seedbank adverts are "X"'ed out, plus some of the little graphics (like "exclamation" icon on thread header lists)

Thanks Major....guess I'll give it a go.....can't be having these popups every time I change a page!

Edit: So....how long did that all take? Importing, plugins and all. Like 2 minutes. cool

Different look, but no crappy warning popups everywhere.

Consider me converted....

Edit 2: Loads pages quicker, too....me happy

There will be an option in IE somehwre to permantly accept the sites certificate so you dont need to click everytime, clearly that advice isnt enccasary though ebcuase you did the right thing and got firefox, you wont be dissapointed m8, there is no going back. ;)

Thanks, DC!

Just a note for posterity's sake...I did switch the Security Rating for icmag.com to Trusted, but it didn't make any obvious difference, apart from forcing me to re-login from scratch.

I think it's just hardcoded IE8 behaviour when trying to access http: referenced data when accessing the site via https: ....if that makes sense.

But as you say....I have seen the light and there is no going back.

just manually go into the URL and cut or delete the "s" out of https:// ....once you remove the
"S" then you hit refresh and start browsing... you should be good to go

easy as that

Hey, I added the site to "trusted sites" in my control panel and the popups have stopped. had to put it in as " https://icmag.com " .

Thank Goodness, it was a real PITA. Not everyone wants to/has the option to change browsers, so this just fixed it for me in IE.

Peace

you can search for firefox trick n tips ectt..

you will find a list of like 50 things you can do but

there a thing called pipelining awesome shit

it send 30 or how ever many you set it to query's to the website and each one loads a bit of the site rather than one query loading the entire site!!

Speeds things up a bit further

i like it!!

The S part of that makes your data encryted though m8, your better off using https where available as its more secure.

I got a tip on this the other day and thought I'd share.

"https" is personal info security (names, acct numbers, etc) not IP address encryption. Since we don't advertise our personal info in the general forums, we don't benefit from https.

If you want to disguise your connection, consider a proxy.

If you're confined to IE, you can set it up to delete all cookies on exit.
