Shit, just with my rent, power, and the very few bills above, I need almost $3K a month. McDonalds you can bring home $300 a week, so it's only a couple grand shy, before adding food, phone bills, cable, credit cards, car payments, and garbage service. Don't forget to budget for clothing, entertainment, haircuts and grow supplies too.

we will say it takes 60 days for harvest just for easy math ( you know us rednecks and numbers LOL )
So thats about 34 plants per 1000w . we will say you get a lb per 1000w thats 8 lbs every 2 months . giving you a lb to play with and taking in to account that the market is not great we will give you 2000 per lb . 2000 X 7 = 14000 every two months or 7000 per month
7000 per month - 3500 in expenses = 3500 profit per month
3500 profit X12 months = 42,000 per year in expendable income

42,000 every year to pay off what ever you need to pay off to make your life alittle easier or to go out and have fun . Not to mention if you have a real job on top of that lets say 20,000 a year well

am i missing something ?

i have to admit i was at one time considering the move, but as you said its not like its the promise land....i started looking into places and other expanses and although i could afford it...its was more to it than i originally expected....i chose mexico instead and there is alot of opportunities down here without the watchful eyes of the gov....i can live for 5 months on what i pay for 1 up there..

on an economic standpoint, i always wondered what the influx of growers did to the economy there...i mean if theres more growers than theres more being sold in state and out of state so ultimately that would lead to more money being spent on goods and services within the state....what does that actually do....???? other than pot???

And when the Feds come bust your door in you can take that 42k you made last year and go pay it to a lawyer and the government.

Look I came out here with all intentions to grow for myself. It's expensive as hell to live out here and I was not prepared for it. Now I have every intention of growing and trying to make a little extra money, not millions or anything like that. I don't plan to retire from growing after some big payday. It's a nice dream to be able to get paid big money doing what I love to do but it's just that right now, a dream. Back to reality...8000 watts of light will not be cheap to run and the cost of energy is going only one way, up. If you had 8000 watts of light your power bill alone would be close to 1500 a month. Add to that rent of at least 1600 a month and you are 3100 so far already. Water bill, soil, nutrients, fans, filters, bulbs...and that's just for the grow. Food for you, gas for your car, entertainment for yourself, and if you have a family those bills just doubled. I want to know where in California you can have 3500 dollars a month in bills and operate a 8k watt grow op because I want to live there. I am not trying to argue with you. You make a valid argument but I think the numbers you posted are not realistic.

One other thing to ad is that there are literally hundreds of people getting their rec everyday, last time I renewed mine it was a 1.5 hour wait and the waiting room was full before we got there and after we left. In the Sac area my friends had to wait a month to get their rec, so yes prices have come down but more customers are added everyday, and most of them are just happy to get MJ. If you can hustle be responsible, actually return a call, deliver what you say you have, you will have a line of people wanting your product. I know Krunch said check out CL for how much prop 215 stuff is sold but actually getting them to call you back or deliver what they say they have is very rare. Even sites like BAC is full of flakes, but you can rate people on that site so it makes a little better.

There was a guy from around here, who didn't grow, sell or use weed. But he had a nice house for the 100,000 dollar range and it only got him a trailer in California! What is a nice living on the east coast/mid west is barely able to survive in Cali...fact is it gets like that with lake front property around here but at least your not living in a million dollar property that is crammed in!

There seems to be some apartments under 700 in Northern Cali but they don't last long. Around here, a two bedroom apartment easily goes for under 400!

Honestly I'd get sick of some people that think they live in Cali, because they couch surf a lot...but they are probably nicer out there than when they live in the Mid West...it is nice to bring that attitude back but it seems they are lazy!

Honestly I have known old friends to really become shady from sourcing meth from Cali, he used to be a pretty cool hippy (stuck up but, shared bud and that was before meth).

I hate him now and sadly that reflects on Cali, a lot of meth problems!

Sorry Rainman, you made good points, but when 2,000 people grow the O.G kush, it doesn't matter how good of a salesman you are, the other guy next to you is trying to low ball you so that he can make the sale. Now, instead of hustling to make MORE money, you are actually hustling to make LESS money.

I am going to have to agree with rainman on this one. The demand for ANY well grown kushes is extremely high in cali (especially LA/SD). Even decently grown real-deal kushes will fetch a pretty penny. I have personally fetched 4500 for an elbow of good kush and my friends routinely get over 4k for their elbows of indoor kush @ LA clubs.

I am not saying everyone can do this but if you have any skills at all, you can move P's of indoor above 34 all day in SD. Many will pay up to 38... just not right now with the saturated market.

The sales tax in CA is at least 8.25%, because the cities can add to it.

If you work and pay taxes, you are looking at paying between 2 - 10% on your income and that's just for an individual.

Try and start a business in California. The amount of red tape, paperwork, taxes, fees and outrageous bullshit is more than enough to drive a sane man, batshit crazy.

Unless your stealing power no way your close on numbers... hell in san diego i was paying $226 per light. That alone is over 2k per month in electricity, and your not even beginning to factor fans, pumps, blowers, a/c, and all the nutrients and things that go along with this.

We have that here as well in San Diego but you have to qualify for it. If you are growing under 8k watts of light I don't think you would qualify for this program and if you tried to hide it to qualify that is just one more thing to tack on to your list of charges.
