I just wanted to report my Co2 upgrade and sucess. Thanks for the info. Aside from some mild side effects ( light headedness and short breath)

Light headedness and shortness of breath just from 1500ppm of CO2? Hmm..are you sure you're getting the correct ppm reading? I spend a lot of time in my garden with that concentration and never had those effects. Just to be safe you may want to test with a manual kit. Your plants look good though!

hey hydr1 i had a question for ya if ya dont mind. im gonna be gettin that same controller you have and just had a few questions....

question 1- where you plug in the vortex fans for cooling... can you hook up more then 1 fan? like can you controll your 2 in vents and your 2 out vents through that one plug??? if so how, extention cord??

did you have to hard wire anything or do you just plug that controller in. if so where do you plug it into? wall? ect?

if you dont mind would like to see your electrical.


is your carbon scrubber hooked up with this controller or do you run in 24-7. also is the carbon scrubber recirc or venting threw the lights??

sorry i have so many questions but im just trying to figure out a few things and this info would help me out alot. thanks

Thanks owl, thats pretty cool! ONly thing I don't like about dry ice is it's hard to control PPM, though I guess if you hooked up the dry ice machine to a CO2 controller, it would produce ice on demand and maybe just spit it on the floor as needed! lol

Yeah I can always feel the extra ppm in a flower room too, doesn't affect everyone, and it's not a strong sensation, but I can tell.

Yeah I've thought about placing a block or bag of dry ice up in a ceiling corner and just allow the gas to drift downward with the air movement.

It may not be precise but, I don't think you could over produce ppm.
It may be more weak than an expensive machine yet, be an inexpensive option.

IGT, if you decide to ditch the PPM-3 I'd recommend something from Sentinel.

Have you guys seen the Hydro Innovations controller?

No PPM display, but affordable @ ~$350, I believe.

I have the Hydrogen water cooled system in a 13' x 13' sealed room. Cooling provided by 125 gallon fish pond outside the room with small ($50.00 at home depot) fish pond pump. the pond liner is sturdy, flat and shallow (76.00 at home depot). Shallow pond helps with evaporative cooling, but creates a shortage of agua. I have to add 45-60 gallons every 3-5 days. I go through a 5 gallon propane tank every 6-7 days at $20.00 each. My controller is a Sentinel set at 1350 ppm with a 150 ppm float. I notice that my Hydrogen only comes on about every 15-20 minutes for 5-7 minutes. I circulate air three ways: an 8 " fan oscillating just above the tops of the ladies, between the fat colas and the outside air cooled lights; a 6", 465CFM CanFan on a 3' carbon filter 'scrubbing' the terpines constantly out of the air while moving air and CO2 around the room; and my Hitachi Halcyon 24,000 B.T.U. split AC system to cool my room to 68 degree nights and 74 degree days for the ladies. I know I could get more production from hotter days, but IT KEEPS THOSE FUCKING MITES IN CHECK!!!

I have to have a digital PPM display,its an integral part of the controller IMO.My cap ppm-3 has locked up once in the couple years I've used it.If I could afford something better I'd probably get it.Man I cant feel 1500PPM co2 and I spend literally a few hours in there twice a week.Maybe other people are more sensitive to it.Its a good idea to get some RAE systems testers just to make sure your controller is calibrated correctly after running it a day or two

I only have one fan but I assume you can plug in an extension cord. The controller is made to power an AC unit. but I have it hooked to my inline>hoods>scrubber to exhaust and the Co2 shuts off when it gets over 87 degrees, the fan turns on.

No hardwiring. it was simple. its simple 110 AC. look below for a pic of my electrical

at the moment I have the scrubber>hoods>inline fan>exhaust.
But Im going to have a scrubber running full time (a bigger scrubber) and a seperate fan for the cooling....eventually (after the 20 degree winter) Ill be running an AC.

I know my PPM is calibrated because it tells me my room air is around 400-450...and I know that is normal. Im also at 5000 ft elevation so the oxygen is thin...also Im going from 20 degree weather into a 85-90 degree room...and I been smoking and drinking....I can deff feel it all hit me ...mild headache for ten minutes after I return into normal climate of my home.

I dunno man....but I know you can blast Co2 as high as you want and plant only use 1500 PPM...so why not over do it and spoil em =)

Strangely, I was told by CAP to not adjust the altitude setting on my PPM-3 even though I'm not at sea level. Not sure what's up with that. How much does altitude actually affect CO2 readings?

I think its basically if ya got 500 ppm ambient air then you would need just 700-1000 ppm to reach that sweet spot. Just to conserve CO2. Im @ 8000 ft. so i need to test my air this weekend when i get a kit. Less trips to the welding shop to fill my tank the better.

and what about small tents under a 400?
