with shipping the 8.5 x 12" 110 micron screen was 25.17. Inquired, quoted, sold and shipped in 5 hours custom.

if anyone would like to provide any advice on the sifting piece, that would be great...what would help would be tips for the new user. Name any way the screen is beneficial. Take it from the perspective of someone with a screen alone (and kitchen/easily obtainable parts). I hope 110 mesh is the right size for someone with only one screen.

I know I should trim my pieces over it and potentially rub the leaves across it to grab the "sugar". What else? Pop it into a box and shake it up?

Any other advice for a brotha?

LOL - Just looked at the confirmation email sent by those guys:

sito007, you will need to leave more bud on the bottom of the stalk than you may want to, but leave plenty to insure it has something to regenerate (regeneration happens at bud sites). Don't over-water and don't feed until you have 5 finger leaves again. (30-60 days depending on strain and conditions).
It will take another 30 days or so before it will be ready to place back into flower, but you can start taking cuts as soon as the leaves have multiple uniform fingers again.

Thanks for the feedback, whats happens to the bud that you leave on the plant?
can you take it off after a time?
would it leaving the bud on the plant cause mold?

one more question,
If i popped a seed go through the veg stage and then put it in flower stage to see if its a female can i put it back to veg stage again?

Yes, after some leaves start emerging and it looks like it has vigor again, you can pull what buddage is left and smoke it. Often sleepy stuff for sure.

Yes, you can find the fems then put them back into reveg. However, it tends to stunt them a bit, and the longer you had them in flower, the longer it will be for it to make new growth.
It may be tough to get clones to take when plants are in those transition stages as well.
But yes, you can do it.

Inspect your trim before you toss it in the dryer. Avoid excessive leaf that doesn't have visible trich coverage as this will add considerably to the pile of shake you have to sift.

The frame you'll get is like a picture frame within a frame and you'll be able to secure the screen easily. Put a tray underneath the frame to collect the sifted material. The tray should be a little bigger than the frame unless you build a box to contain the sifted stuff.

Use a card to rake the shake over the screen. Scrape up the sifted stuff and compress. A cigarette cellophane works good to press your hash in. Some folks use body heat and some put it in a toaster over on low heat for a few minutes. Fresh hash will make you cough up a lung. Some peeps cure it up to a year to reduce lung/smoke expansion.

I hope 110 mesh is the right size for someone with only one screen.
Me too. I hope you checked before you purchased. Good luck.

oh,,, I need that. What strain make you feel like that? I need a nice calm relaxing smooth smoke.

My boy blue is growing one plant and takes cuts to recycle the same plant "bagseed" But I think its a sativa and it makes me feel to rushy and the high is hard on my forehead. :thanks:

Even a true Sativa can give you couch-lock and make you sleepy. Just let the buds mature on the plant till almost all of the trichs are amber and there are little if any clear glands remaining. Also, if you have Sativa buds that have already been harvested, extended curing/storage in sealed glass jars will take the rushy edge off them and give them a much more relaxed high. Keep in mind, when I say "extended" I mean EXTENDED. A full year or more is minimal for this to effectively happen. I have several jars that are at least 5 years old and while the buds have lost all of their visual appeal, they smoke superbly.

back to the sifting Q

Hey guys...one clarification on the sifting piece. I dry the leaves with the sugar on them before raking across the screen with a card?

Just making sure. Total n00b action here.

I took her down moments ago and am PSYCHED. Never had that aroma and stickiness and etc etc to experience before.

I have half of it strung up and half of it in a bag - I was going to do a three-way with a hybrid "connoisseur" method but ran out of time...had to get to work so now it is boiled down to the Pipedream Brown Paper Bag Method (PBPB) and the Bulenath Lei Method (BLM). I am expecting the methods to be comparable...but who knows!

I can say one thing, the Lei method takes more time and leaves you with stickier fingers.

The PBPB method is very easy...no fuss, no muss - kinda my motto.

I believe I surely got an ounce out of this. Maybe 1.5...first plant, first grow!

I cannot wait for the Sativa to finish....although it appears I will have to. The lemon scent emanating from her is absolutely lush and sweet and good. The other 3 indicas I have are much lesser than the first one due to survival of the fittest...I will stagger the finish time if I go beyond one plant per 150 again in order to maximize yield per plant. Timing and patience is everything in this game.

Now another week of waiting before I can sample my goods.

grr.

Yes. That's why it's called dry sift. If you do it wet, the same stuff that's sticking to your hands will stick to the screen. As soon as it's crunchy dry it'll sift. Some put their shake in the freezer prior to sifting so the heads will break off stalks easier.

Thank you sir!

Now I know why they call it dry sifting AND why they call them HEADS.

holy crap. I know nothing. Average joe dailysmoker signing in for duty.

:thanks:

Here are some pictures for the help. I am intrigued at how much your first harvest makes you feel like a kid at christmas. Good vibes have been FLOWING from the Grumblez man since this morning. No matter how crappy, this is going to be the best smoke I will ever enjoy. You know what comes next...right?

I'm sure Bulenath will enjoy the pics as much as us, nice job.:D He's in the far east last I heard but checks in from time to time. We all miss ya dude!!!

I wanted a LINE 6 bass amp but it was too expensive. I compromised with a SWR combo. An external speaker makes all the difference.

What instrument do you play? That amp is good for anything, even hooked up to the radio.:biglaugh:

Somewhere in the back of my closet is an old Ampeg "Baby Bass" with a "B15N".....there I go dating myself again. I bought in 1972 when I was stationed overseas and very much into Jazz. The last time I played it was somewhere around 1985. That was when I decided that for everyone else's benefit I'd stick to playing rythm. Although I must admit that I was really only good when I was behind the glass and faders, and left the playing to those who really could do it justice.

(Edit: this line added to keep post relavent to forum) Pot, Ganja, Weed, 150HPS, Sift, Smoke, Dude this strain fried my brain, etc, etc.

150 Watt Jam Band

Alright, so we have bass and guitars/vox covered. Maybe a soundman for sure.

(do you drum too, PD? I assume with the bass amp that is what you meant by rhythm, but you could be talking percussion).

When we jammin? I'll start up a 150WBand myspace account immediately...lol.

PS - Ampeg rocks. Does the 15 mean 15" cone? Sounds like a nice little combo...

Best bass amp of all time? Still used in studios to this day. I cringe when I see garage band bassists drag em around and mess em up. If I had one it would be a permanent fixture. One in good shape could probably bring 4 figures.

i just got my 150hps from htg supply for 69 before shipping, im happy with it but the spectrum the bulb gives out isnt like this one fifty sunsystem at all http://www.icmag.com/gallery/data/500/58717091208111412.jpg

it almost seems more like a flower enhanced metal halide color to me, theres yellow in it but its closer to white/green the it is to orange/red. anybody bought one of theese systems before? should i buy a new bulb, if so any recomendations?

Last night I changed out my bulb after it was on for the equivalent of about 1/2 year of 12/12. The new bulb went from Blue to Orange in a fraction of time and boy was she brighter. It is definitely is more orange spectrum. The bulb was a little smaller and it had cost me literally 5 times as much to buy it from the Home DePOT than it would have been from ecconolights not including shipping. It is a Phillips bulb with all sorts of air bubbles in the glass that my other one didn't have, but it appears to be doing the trick.

I just have a 100CFM 4'' PC fan blowing up on my bare 150w and I've got what appears to me as healthy growth 1'' from the bulb. Fan leafs curl up and turn brown just before it actually touches the bulb. This seems like a fire hazard, but I've been doing it for a good two months and it seems safe. If anyone thinks otherwise I'd really appreciate some 2 cents because maybe I ain't got any.
