Awesome thread. I found it by doing a search for sonoma county. Im thinking of moving there soon. How hard was it to find a decent spot to grow? Are most of the landlords against growing in rentals? I used to grow years ago in Florida and am considering getting back into the scene. Awesome score on the large basement. I hope it all comes together for you. I am planning a visit to the area next month to try to find something to rent. I have been checking craigslist for houses to rent. If you have any tips would be appreciated.

cheers

Yeah hard to find a landlord that is cool with growing, you will have to visit and talk to many guys before you find something. i found my place CL, search for the words acre, country, basement, privacy and see what turns up. Prepare for sticker shock though, my 3bd place is $2100 a month, gas is $3 a gallon and insurance and taxes in CA are crazy.

The dual arc bulbs SUCK, super expensive and they put out less light than a 1kw MH! Bad stuff. For regular ballasts use the Eye Hortilux, for digis use the Ushios!

LOL yes with the digis blowing Hortliux (yep 7 in 4 months!) but the specs on all the dual-arc bulbs are online, and the data is sad. They put out less than 90K lumens (which is what a 1KW MH puts out) but cost over twice as much. Bad + Bad

The longer I grow, the more I learn to keep things simple, use what everyone else uses, and go with the flow instead of fighting it. I think this is a hobby that punishes creativity a bit, being imaginative gets you buying and trying all sorts of wacky expensive stuff. When many growers ARE growing for yield, having that weight diminish with complicated dial-ins costs you a ton of product.

That's just me though, tons of guys are better growers than I am, but I think that technology can replace some level of skill. It's when I design automated high-tech rooms for the truly great growers is when the magic happens. So fun to watch! :)

Thanks guys, we pruned up a few more tables last night and got about 500 cuts for my buddy, but it looks like I'll need to break down my tables with the "short" lights over them pretty soon, I'm gonna need the extra headroom very shortly. FLipped them to 12/12 last night too, whoohoo!

Whew. Depressing, I know, but hey I told you guys I'd be honest with you, for better or worse. Learn from my mistakes and grow better! Hell I'd be happy to grow tiny yields if it helped all of you get 10% more each, what a karma payback that shit would be! LOL :)

Ok I lied there, I have bills to pay and a big new op to finance, so I do need to get back to my normal system. I just can't stop experimenting!

Grow on folks, but don't idolize the lazyman! Hahaha!

K+ for the honesty. It's one of those things that you learn something new every day no matter how long you do it. Keep truckin'. It's great to watch you grow.

Thanks buddy, same to you, love watching your attic thread! I know there are lots of guys who think growing is easy, and that commercial ops are only expensive to set up, but we all know that's all bullshit.

I'm trying to push the limits of what I think is possible for one man to do in an op, by making everything I can as efficient as possible, and streamlining the crap out of it.

I love this site though, I learn something every single day here, and I'm hopeful that at least a dozen guys learn something from me every day.

We CAN make this an exact science, and the more formulas and plans we have the more predictable our outcomes. Overgrow the planet! :)

Alright, some new pics at 6 days flower, man these things are beasts. I pruned the SHIT out of them, over 1000 cuttings overall, gave a bunch away and thre w away the other half. I put 12 of the big ones on a table next to a paid of lights, they will only get side/indirect lighting the whole grow:

Jackpot, man these get FAT stalks:

This one was vegged 2 weeks:

Purple mr nice, not stretching much yet...

and my new album cover, lol

Temps are down to low 60's now, even with the lights on and no cooling. Ha! It usually gets up to about 72 by the time the lights turn off. Gonna have to change my air filters/exhausts to just scrubbers.

Oh, and I'm only watering now when I see new white roots poking out of the smartpots, they seem to like that the best.

Low budget run is working 5X better than the coco chips, about on par with coco but there's no side by side this run.

Thats some good stuff Lazy. Must have been some vigorous growth to get that many cuttings. DAMN! :joint:

I actually had to do something similar...I had switch from air cooled to just scrubbing well because the temps were getting way too cold and the RH would go up.

Glad to see things are going well.

Looking really nice man. How many under each light. i wish I had that kind of room brotha... I got my 8 lights in a 8 by 12 room. Very bright in there. LOL. Everything looks really healthy and green man.. Impressed I am..

thanks man, yeah it was something to see, the Purple Mr Nice got almost a month of veg so she'll yield well, don't even need her to stretch! ;)

Take care man, good to see you...

Thanks buddy, right now I've got about 12-20 2' tall plants per light, but I'm gonna have to lower my tables, that'll be a ball, lol. They're just gonna get too big and I'm gonna need the height.

Yep AN Sensi nutes both sides this time, I'm at 1100 ppm right now, ph 6.2 or so, and FFOF. Stupid simple, this is how I "usually" grow. ;)

So you're about 6 weeks in eh? I hope you kick ass in the yield bro, how many did you fit in there?

I ended up with more than I needed, gave a few teenagers away to make some space. I think if you veg 2-3 weeks, 150 fills 8 4X4's pretty well. If I was doing a 1 week veg I think I'd put 36 per tray wuth a good indica strain, sinething compact and narrow.

ahh very nice i like the upgraded from your first posting..with anything you learn what works over time... im using 4 plants a square foot in both 3 by 6 and 4 by 8 tables with about a week or ve time..works well for me.. how do you like those smart pots?

Thx Omenman, yep def. took some dial-in to get this room right, plant count is everything if you don't have enough veg time!

I LOVE the smartpots, they take and lose water very evenly, the plant gets tons of oxygen through the fabric, and you can see exactly how your roots are doing on every plant at a glance. THey clean up in the washing machine, and fold flat in a box for transport.

The only thing I don't like about them is when you move a pot of soil/coco you have to fix the edges, where the bag pulls away from the medium. Other than that they're sweeet!

Oh yeah, I got a cut from a buddy the other day, called "Emperor Kush." It's a Headband crossed with OG Kush. He tells me he has the best OG cut around, and it's garbage compared to this Emperor kush, both in quality and yield. He just threw out a whole bunch of other strains to grow this one (and 2 others.) Another buddy is gonna mother it up for me so we can get some cuts in a couple months for the new spot, woot!
