ZOMBIES!!!!!

I've been a zombie fan my whole life (growing up in Pittsburgh and having worked in Monroeville mall for 7 of those years), and I loved Zombieland to no end! Although I thought Dead Snow was one of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever seen. Sorry it was lame IMO.

Has anyone seen 'Fido'? That was a very cool zombie film, with a 1950's leave it to beaver feel to it. I'm also waiting for a the new films to come out, hopefully at least one gets a 'Zombieland' budget!

I watched colin last night, i liked that fact that someone has finally done it from the zombie point of view but the film was entirely too long. I would say brilliant concept but they killed it by dragging it out too long. By the end i was a bit bored to be honest.

As for George's film, i dont think it's fair to compare old against new. Zombieland had a huge wealth of experience to call on whereas living dead was the start of the genre so should be exempt from comparison. I would say that George lead the way and zombieland turned the page and opened a new chapter on zombies. Both are special in their own rights.

As for dead snow, i'm afraid i thought it was crap. I've never seen ninja fast zombies and the lack of footprints in the snow left me thinking it was badly directed. Too predicatable and did not stick to the rules enough to be a zombie flick.

I'd also point out that colin was made on a budget of £45 so i think it takes the award for cheapest film ever made!

Saw a spanish language film the other night 'rec'.
About a film crew for a tv station that get locked into an apartment building when there is a 'zombie' or 'undead' outbreak.
I liked it. Bleak but not too gorey...suspenseful and well shot.

Rec is the original for "quarantine" which in itself was a pretty scary movie

I love all things zombie...I have yet to see zombieland, but that is because I was laid up for the last 2 weeks with injuries that make sitting upright for more than 2 hours very
uncomfortable

Nothing beats Romero's unholy trinity

Night, Dawn, Day...I have all 3 originals on dvd...listening to Commentary is Mandatory for fans!
The 30th anniversary edition of NightOTLD has extra scenes shoth just for 30th anniversary... Some Origional actors too...expands what happened @ Beakmans Diner as well.

That scene in DayOTD, where the guy in the corridor is torn in half whilst watching it happen to himself?. They used real pig offal for the scenes...kept in a big drum in the refrigerator...They Had ONE SCENE left to shoot when they went on 3-5 days Christmas break or something.
Some one turned off the fridge.

When they got back after the break to film this ONE LAST scene...the offal was OFF!...half the cast and grew were in respirators up until seconds before filming began!:muahaha:

Yup that is "diary of the dead" came out last year or the year before

If I were to rank my all time favorite Zombie "Style" Movies.......and bare in mind, that I am easily swayed by great special effects..

1. Night of the Living Dead -1968. This movie is awesome, not that it is overly scary with horror and gore, but just the way humanity breaks down and with huge racial undertones. "They are coming for you Bar ba ra" Is a great line, and I use it whenever my gf says she heard a noise while we are camping...LOL

2. Dawn of the Dead - 2004. I love this movie. Would be my dream location for a zombie invasion, a fully stocked mall.. Would have been nice to discover the gun store before the place was crawling, but man, does this movie ever impress me. The part with the armored shuttle in the midst of the mass of very badass zombie swarm is epic. It does not hurt that I have "the hots" for Sarah Polley

3. Dawn of the Dead- 1978 almost as great as the remake, but some of the zombie parts and actors drive me a bit nuts in this one. The Francine one is especially annoying. But a great movie. I own about 4 different versions of this one.

4. 28 Days later -2002 This movie scared me. It is like a great zombie movie on steroids. It actually pins you for the entire movie, you cannot not watch. Danny Boyle is coming back for a new one named 28 Months Later, so you can bet a good portion of Europe would be the new battleground for that one

5. Return of the Living Dead -1985 The first zombie movie I ever watched, Seen it in the theater when it was released, and laughed and squirmed the whole way through it. all lot of full frontal from Linnea Quigley

6 Day of the Dead -1985 A bit repetitive with the whole isolated and trapped theme, but the army/science fight is neat. alot more Gore in this one..

7 I am Legend -2007 I hear they are vampires, I hear they are zombies, maybe a mix, who knows, but crazy.. You start to think this is great, him being all alone ina city, racing through the streets in whatever car he wants, but that quickly changes. Props to " The Last Man on Earth 1964 and The Omega Man 1971...pretty much the same movie

8. Shaun of the Dead 2004 - This movie is very funny, and clever. How his relationship with his GF being his main concern during the zombie apocalypse is great. Nick Frost steals this movie from Simon Pegg

9. Resident Evil in a sub order of 1. Resident Evil, 2. R.E. Extinction, 3. R.E. Apocalypse. Milla is ridiculously hot.

10. Diary of the Dead 2007 a good renewal for Romero, and jumps on teh cam shot movies bandwagon, but a descent zombie movie

Saw it. It was not great, but a staple Romero film. I'm going to add it to my zombie collection though...

OMG!...how can you favor this over the origional! It never came close! But I must admit that I prefer substance over flash/bang films.
If you want something of such good quality you could just listen to it and not have to look @the screen, get 'Callan' a BBC tv show from late 60's/early 70's...

3. Dawn of the Dead- 1978 almost as great as the remake, but some of the zombie parts and actors drive me a bit nuts in this one. The Francine one is especially annoying. But a great movie. I own about 4 different versions of this one.
Yeah, there are about 6-8 different edits and versions...this Italian one had the most unedited scenes. The BEST of them ALL!

4. 28 Days later -2002 This movie scared me. It is like a great zombie movie on steroids. It actually pins you for the entire movie, you cannot not watch. Danny Boyle is coming back for a new one named 28 Months Later, so you can bet a good portion of Europe would be the new battleground for that one
I liked this one!...28 weeks later was ok...the animated zombie shorts on the disk were good...gonna give 28 Months Later a shot when it comes out.:)

5. Return of the Living Dead -1985 The first zombie movie I ever watched, Seen it in the theater when it was released, and laughed and squirmed the whole way through it. all lot of full frontal from Linnea Quigley
Saw this...I'm not that into horror-comedies..I like something that can make me uneasy...

6 Day of the Dead -1985 A bit repetitive with the whole isolated and trapped theme, but the army/science fight is neat. alot more Gore in this one..
I liked this one!...not as much as DOTD but enough...it really did get eerie in places...the stress shown by the survivors was evident. And of course, there was Bub!There is a remake...I highly recommend staying away though. In this piss weak version Bub is a harmless zombie 'cause in life he was a vegetarian! What Bool$hite!

7 I am Legend -2007 I hear they are vampires, I hear they are zombies, maybe a mix, who knows, but crazy.. That's because they are ALL based on the same book, 'I am Legend' by Richard Matheson...who wrote a lot of famous 'Twilight Zone' eps...
Even George Romero has said that 'I am Legend' by Richard Matheson influenced NOTLD! The 'man running from everyone!' syndrome! hehehe

8. Shaun of the Dead 2004 - This movie is very funny, and clever. How his relationship with his GF being his main concern during the zombie apocalypse is great. Nick Frost steals this movie from Simon Pegg
Love British Humor!

9. Resident Evil in a sub order of 1. Resident Evil, 2. R.E. Extinction, 3. R.E. Apocalypse. Milla is ridiculously hot.
You're right! 'nuff said!

10. Diary of the Dead 2007 a good renewal for Romero, and jumps on teh cam shot movies bandwagon, but a descent zombie movie
I agree.

I am very much looking forward to 'Word War Z' though...

I love the holloween episode of the simpson's where Lisa turns everyone into zombies, and Homer shoots zombie flanders with a shotgun. Then Bart says, "wow dad you shot zombie flanders", then homer answers, "He was a zombie?"
